I found some Basic Grey fibers in my storeroom at school. I must have taken them in many, many years ago for the kids to use. (I'm an art teacher). I am really excited- I've taken them back home and I'm going to try to do a page with them today.
I am nostalgic for all of my old, outdated supplies that I have purged over the years. I also found some other random scrapbook embellishments at school - companies like Architecture, Junkitz, Making Memories, and Seven Gypsies. Now I'm trying to think of ways to incorporate those pieces into my more modern style of scrapping.
I know I need to purge old supplies but I did two huge purges in my years of scrapbooking and I think of stuff all of the time that I wish I hadn't given away. I sold so much at a garage sale once and it kind of hurts my heart now.
Do you have any old stuff that you have used lately? Any old stuff that is hiding deep in your stash that you would like to bring back into the rotation?
What old embellishments do you wish they still made? I miss Making Memories embellishments a lot. They always had such cool stuff.

I often use old supplies in my layouts and cards - many of them that I've purchased or received as RAKs from those slimming down their stash. I've been scrapping for 20 years but didn't have much money or space to really build a big stash for most of that time so most of my own older supplies tend to be remnants from a SLAB or eyelets etc...

I recently found a couple packs of KI Memories icicles in a random box of junk in my clothes closet! I will definitely be using them in something soon. Brought back fond memories of shopping at Archivers. 💓

I recently found a Basic Grey ribbon pack. It's from the Gypsy (Romani) line. I had another BG one but I took that one apart and kept only a couple of rolls. Don't remember the line but is was a blue/brown line. Might have gotten rid of those now too. It's been a while for that one.

I've got a lot of older products in my product stash. I use older products on a regular basis. I mix old and new (and everything in-between).
I occasionally browse ebay for older products. Sometimes, I get lucky and find some good stuff, when someone is downsizing their stash or selling all of their stash. A couple-ish months ago, there was a grouping of several sheets of Daisy D's stickers. It was "right place, right time" and I was the lucky purchaser.
My favorite "old" products are stickers, paper, frames, from: Creative Imaginations O'Scrap My Minds Eye Daisy D's Rusty Pickle Basic Grey Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby's brand) Karen Foster Etc....

The other day I found a set of about 6 sets of 12 x 12 stickers from BG at our local second hand store. I walked away, but I knew someone would love them.
I have a ton of papers from BG and Scenic Route. I don't have a bunch of embellishments for them other than stickers and chipboard.

Artbabe, I'm right there with you in missing all that wonderful old stuff I purged. In my case, I had to do it because I moved aboard a sailboat and went sailing. I couldn't take it all with me, so I ebayed almost all of it except the stuff I had already invested a lot of time into allocating for projects. I had a friend who was willing to store my scrapbooks, luckily, because I was worried that they would have been ruined aboard the boat. (A valid concern; they most definitely would have been ruined if they had come along with us aboard the boat).
I used to have a wonderful collection of old school wood-mounted stamps that I really loved. Those all got ebayed. I miss them!
I also had a few sets of clear stamps, which I was able to keep because they didn't take up that much space. Now that I am scrapping again, I am still using them all on pages as needed. Most of them are pretty timeless designs and do not look dated to me. They're mostly journaling blocks and alpha stamps, with some florals and other images mixed in, too.
So I'm a landlubber again now, and I am having to rebuild my stash, not quite from zero, but pretty close to it. I do not have a huge stash at all, but most of the stash I do have is older stuff that got stored for years along with my scrapbooks. Most of it is still allocated for projects that I haven't finished yet; I have most of it stored in old Presto Page Managers along with the photos I had planned to scrap using each paper. Opening my old ArtBins full of Page Managers is sort of like opening a time capsule...
I also have a small paper organizer that used to be filled with old Bazzill from before the American Crafts buyout, but my stash of that is dwindling fast. I have a few random sheets left from various BasicGrey 8x8 pads -- and funny thing, I just discovered an unopened pack of BasicGrey metal embellishments. I am not really sure what to do with those.
Anybody remember decorating chalks? I still have all of mine from back in the day, and I am right back to using those pretty frequently. I have some from Making Memories, Studio G and Craf-T Products.
re this: "What old embellishments do you wish they still made? I miss Making Memories embellishments a lot. They always had such cool stuff." YES, this! Making Memories was one of my favorites!!!! I still have a ziplock baggie filled with unallocated metal doodads that are mostly MM. You remind me that I haven't been using them. And is it just wrong that I still love eyelets? Haha. Although I haven't been using those lately, either. When I bought them, it was mostly for use in mixed media art projects, and I haven't been doing much of that lately.
So many of my old favorites are gone. BasicGrey and Making Memories were at the top of the list, and I also loved Creative Imaginations and 7Gypsies.
But it's ink pads that I miss the most -- way more than embellishments. I am glad Tim Holtz is still making Distress Inks, and I LOVE the "new" (haha) Distress Oxides, but I was sad to find that many of my favorite ink brands are either defunct or really hard to find. I'm trying different brands here and there but mostly just slowly rebuilding my ink pad stash with Distress Oxides.

Well, I haven't used the fibers yet. Hopefully I'll use them today. I have pulled out all of my old ribbon and lace from back when that was the rage. I've used it on a bunch of layouts this month. I think I need to pull out a different old supply every time I scrap and challenge myself to use it. It is so fun to dig back in the stash.

I still have a bunch and am desperate for some inspiration. I can't think of what to do with them other than put them through a tag.
