One of my ancestors was thrown into the Tower of London for being a Quaker. Quakers were considered to pose a serious threat to national security because they challenged the state's idea of religion. (Look it up if you don't know how terrible this was.)
He was finally released and brought his family to America by ship to be part of William Penn's great Holy Experiment.
The descendants of these same Quakers were the first religious movement and among the first people in the entire world to denounce slavery, their position dating before our Revolutionary War.
This same local group of Quakers had excellent relationships with the local natives (Indians) that were never broken.
This history of faith to God and literal peaceful co-existence continued generation after generation through my family line to today.
Today, I too live a life of faith in God and peaceful co-existence with my neighbors, but because I refuse to go along with what the State proclaims is truth I too am now labelled a national threat by my own government.
If I were young without a family depending upon me, I very well could be out in public demanding that our government be transparent and accountable for the horrendous policies they continue to impose upon us.
But I am not young, there is no one else who can presently step into my shoes as caregiver, and I cannot afford thousands and thousand of dollars to fight the malicious lawfare that is used against those who publicly speak up.
If, however, I was a woman in today's Iran, I don't know. I may just be out there speaking up anyway fully aware of the danger.
Because if I must monitor my every word and action in today's America, where despite despicable, prevalent, now-somehow-acceptable censorship I still have the constitutional right to speak freely, I know that anyone who is forced against their will to wear restrictive clothing and be subjugated to intolerant religious doctrine must also know the tremendous risk they take when they openly resist.
Why so many in America don't understand what a very dangerous course we are proceeding down befuddles me.
I will not go along with you.
Our government is broken and I will not pretend that it isn't.
*I am literally praying that this post later in a thread on an obscure scrapbooking website that is overwhelmingly in accord with our present government does not subjugate those I am responsible for to closer scrutiny.
