It just dawned on me that the green avatars are kiwis. There were three in a row on a post and I thought, man that is a lot of green. It kind of makes it hard to separate the posters. Then I looked back at them and they are kiwis.
Yes, I know I am waaaaayyy late to the party, but I get it now. I thought kiwi was somebody's term for one or all of the cartoonist looking characters and in my mind the green ones were hearts in the middle.
If I could post smilies from my phone, I'd post a whole lot of embarrassed ones.

It took me a little while to put it together at first. Initially I was like "man, Gar is on a roll!" Same here! Then I noticed that gar's avatar is just a wee bit different, although it's the same color. I don't mind the kiwis or the cartoon avatars, and I've gotten to recognize many of you by your caricatures, but when several people have chosen to illustrate themselves the same way, I get a little confused. |

I agree. I recognize posters by their avatars more so than their user names. If everyone on the board did an avatar change on me in the middle of the night, I'd be screwed.

All of the kiwis and cartoon avatars are one big same old poster to me, despite how people have tried to make them look like themselves. They all blend into one.
I also used to think Gar posted a lot!
And on a side note - I am excellent at either seeing an avatar and immediately knowing the name attached to it, or "seeing" an avatar in my head just by reading the name somewhere in a post. Unless you're a kiwi or cartoon.

I use an avatar from here but not too many people here are using it. I think the kiwi is the default avatar. There are a few people who use the goldfish like me and sometimes I get confused myself when I see it and think " I didn't post on the thread yet"

I might have thought that about the kiwis. I know grinningcat has brown Hair on her cartoon and elanah has blonde. |

 All you guys think I talk too much  The colour does makes it easy to confuse them at a glance though, I agree  The kiwis definitely throw me sometimes, trying to follow a thread when 3 different posters have the same avatar takes more concentration so come on eastcoastpea lindywholoveskids @crack-a-lackin scrapmaven et al - help my middle aged brain out and get your own avatars!!  I had my lime avatar on the original site and decided to keep it, not knowing that the default would be green kiwis obviously, but I don't want to change it now - I wouldn't even recognise myself

But some of those cartoon faces are similar too - there's been times when I've read a post and thought "That doesn't sound like grinningcat/Elannah" and looked properly and it's someone else. |

Same here! J u l e e you have to keep the same avatar, even when that sweet little girl in yours is 47, you're not allowed to change it! I agree with Nink, I'm screwed if anyone changes their avatar. |

I don't know how many there are. I don't see it that often but I do see it. I think maybe I post here more than the other people with the goldfish so it's most likely me if you see it but not always. Maybe I'll get my sister to change my avatar to a picture. I'm not good at that stuff that's why I picked one from here that and because I think the kissing fish are cute. |

After Yubon made a nasty comment about my "stupid grin" in my avatar I decided to change it for the Christmas season when my dh took a picture of me with our Grinch. I thought afterward that no one was going to "know" me anymore and that I broke a long standing Pea rule!
