My Oreck upright bit the dust the other day. It’s about 20 years old, and part of a plastic piece completely broke off and the vacuumed up stuff is now spewing out into the air. Ugh. Anyhow, I need to replace it. I planned to buy either a Miele or another Oreck today, but my dishwasher and/or plumbing (will call a plumber on Monday) died in the middle of thanksgiving yesterday, so I need to be extra budget conscious. I’m looking at two different shark uprights, on sale. One is $250 the second is $400. From what I can tell the lower priced must be a discontinued model. Anyhow…do you have a Shark? What do you think of it? I have very low pile carpet upstairs, and large format tile downstairs. Two cats who she’d like nobody’s business spring-summer.

My sister LOVES to vacuum -- LOVES it! She has two Shark vacuums and just sent a Shark to my DS. She hates Dyson and says they are junk. She thinks the Shark vacuum is priced well enough that when she wears it out, she can easily replace it.

I have a Shark. I really like it. Personally I feel the suction is better than it ever was on the Dyson that died. I don’t remember which model and I am at home. I will say that the canister is removable but I never use that feature. Maybe if I had stairs. But it does seem to make the vacuum heavier than it neds to be. I would buy another Shark but no removable canister.

I have a powered lift-away Shark. Pros: great suction Cons: warranty sucks, tips over when I use the wand and attachments. I won’t buy another one. I will buy a Bissell. Their warranty is great.

I bought a Shark Navigator Lift Away a few years ago and I’ve been happy with it. It does a good job picking up cat fur and litter on a variety of flooring.

I have 2 shark vacuums & I love both
Older one has a cord, - I don’t suggest a corded vacuum - it creates scenarios where I don’t finish vacuuming - otherwise this vacuum is great & still working well - only issue is from when I dropped it- my fault
My new shark vacuum is a cordless wand vac & I LOVE it. I swear I vacuum way more often with this thing, it’s small & light & the top detatches to be a handheld vacuum. Cons - small reservoir size - have to empty it each time ( doesn’t bother me ) and I wish they had a detachable battery so I could have a spare - other than that it’s great!

I totally love my Shark's. I have an older Navigator and a new stick. Love them both!
To keep them working the best - clean the filters! I usually buy an extra foam filter right away.
After one or two uses, I take the foam filter out and try to bounce as much dust as I can out of it (outdoors) and then I wash it well with Dawn and warm water. I squeeze the water out using a towel and let it dry completely. I like having 2 filters so I can leave the one I just washed to dry completely before putting it back in the vacuum. .

www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6421820.p?skuId=6421820I have this cordless one and I like. Like that it folds down/in half for storage and the way it "breaks" to get under sofa etc. Charge seems to last pretty long too, imo. I only have carpet in bedrooms if that makes any difference. Oh, and the headlight is a plus. When I first got it DS thought that was stupid/not needed. Until he used it and it showed him all the stuff easily overlooked with naked eye. It was a liter aha moment for him, changes his opinion (which ain't easy to do😂)

This is what I need to do. The foam filter does get NASTY but at least you can clean it. There’s another thinner little filter thing underneath the foam one that can be pulled out and cleaned too. You can also completely clean the canister with soapy water which I do every few months. I have two of them and love them both. I have an older corded Navigator Lift Away that works great. I love that it’s lighter weight and easier to do stairs than our old Dyson which almost killed me multiple times and which trashed my shoulder. I have a newer cordless at the lake cabin and I love that one too. It’s perfect for our cabin which is mostly hard flooring with a couple low pile rugs and one hardwood staircase. The battery lasts about 45 minutes which is just long enough to do both levels before needing a recharge. The cordless wouldn’t be a good fit for my house because I have too much carpeting there. It takes me 45 minutes to completely vacuum one level of my house.

We had to buy a new Shark a few weeks ago. Walmart had a better price than Lowes for what we thought was the same vacuum, model number was off by one. It was hard to find the difference. Model number vs. model number took me to a tech review site. The only difference was the cheaper model did not have a removable battery.

I have a cordless Shark. It is a good machine. Nowhere near our Dyson cordless, but now I just need it for our wood floors, so it is perfect.

I have a shark and I like it. It is a pretty basic/cheap model (a couple of hundred dollars). The only two things that are kind of annoying is that it seems to be top heavy so I make sure leave so the handle is propped against something so it won’t tip over. It also doesn’t have enough places to keep all of the attachments on the vacuum so I seem to alway misplace those and have to go hunting for them.
Mine does have the canister that disconnects from the base/brush roller thing. I do like that and use it when vacuuming my stairs.
I had a canister vacuum before …truthfully not sure which style I like better. They both have pros and cons. It does suck well and I like not having to deal with vacuum bags.

I have an older Shark Navigator. I specifically bought it because reviews said it was great for vacuuming pet hair. I love it, it is great.
I bought mine at bed bath & beyond and used a coupon so it was a great deal.

I bought a shark at Costco a few years ago - gosh, maybe 4-5 years at this point. It was only $160ish and it’s still going great. Works better than my Dyson did and is much lighter to move around. Dd bought the same one a year or so later and also likes hers.

I have an old Oreck, an old Sebo and a Dyson. Love the Dyson. The Sebo is great but heavy so I don’t use it. I thought the Oreck died a couple years ago but took it to a vacuum cleaner shop and it was repaired inexpensively. The shop owner also said it’s a good idea to bring them in for yearly maintenance but few people do.

I like my Shark better than I ever liked my Dyson. Me too. I have one of the pet versions with a lift away canister that is fabulous for cleaning the steps. Will absolutely buy again when needed. I just looked up when I purchased it. I bought ours in 2019 and I don’t feel it has lost suction at all. I agree with keeping the filters clean. Replacements on Amazon are cheap.

We upgraded from the Shark Navigator to a Shark Cordless last year. It's great. Picks up all the dog hair, has plenty of battery life to vacuum the whole house, and is so convenient.

We have a Shark robot vacuum that was purchased last summer. I like it a lot and would purchase again. We also have 2 cats, but have wood-like plank flooring.
