I think my "collecting problem" stems from having to buy on-line. The only craft stores in my area are Hobby Lobby and Walmart. So when I look at supplies on-line, I'll see a collection and panic I should get it all to avoid shipping costs and availability. Truth is I don't scrap "collection only" pages and I don't use all the embellishments, so I waste money and space. (I love patterned paper!)

I think my "collecting problem" stems from having to buy on-line. I've been feeling this recently too. While I haven't bought things that I won't use, I don't shop the same as I did pre-Covid. Shipping costs have gone up significantly and there's a lot more pressure to either hit that free shipping threshold (not actually free, just the seller absorbing the cost), or to make it worth the price by buying multiple things. Shipping inside Canada is quite expensive, even if it's coming from in-province.

I have collected quite a number of Karen Burniston, Elizabeth Craft and Spellbinders die sets that have never had the packages opened. Not that I would use them UP if I used them... Just have not found the perfect place and time. I collect possibilities. This describes me, too. Just add Graphic 45 and some of the brands of papers that have been mentioned, too. However, I justify my collection because I use everything for card making.

bought Stamperia Bauhaus, with no idea what I was going to use it for, and it ended up being one of my favorite layouts this month. That collection baffles me. I do see where they’ve taken bauhaus style imagery ( or at least from that period ) but apparently not the any of the design ideals/principles. I WANT to like that paper but I can’t. Most pieces are just too cluttered and busy to be bauhaus so it’s comes off to me like a deception and somewhere in my mind it bothers me, my brain is screaming

I buy far too much Christmas.
And I am a sucker for a garage sale if I can find Basic Grey or Scenic Route.
I will horde Cocoa Vanilla, because it's hard to get here.

I am a sucker for cute patterned paper like Doodlebug, but then when I try to use it I often find it's too busy or doesn't match my pictures. Sometimes I end up using the more subtle B side but then I feel like I am wasting the cute pattern on the other side. Yet I still "collect" it. I also have had the same experience with Doodlebug! The other issue I have had is that my style changes from time to time, and I found myself not liking the cutesie stuff so much after a while.

I've been collecting supplies for at least 20 years. *sigh* I've gone through different phases: Basic Grey, Doodlebug, Graphic 45, Project Life (still annoyed that there were so many duplicates in each kit), and the list goes on. I think I simply caved to FOMO. *sigh*

I still like it though- the page I made with it is over on the sharing thread. It is kind of hard to work with because it is, as you say, very cluttered. I always appreciate when a manufacturer attempts something different, and I do like the art references. Stamperia also made a Klimt line that I haven't used yet.

I am a huge sucker for Doodlebug and will buy any collection of theirs I even remotely like. That being said, I DO use it, but not nearly at the rate I buy it. 😅

But you were spot on hop2, it's far too busy and characterful for me to use and would totally overshadow anything I scrapped with it. Shame. I liked the idea but the reality didn't chime.

Oh yes, guilty. Not of Maggie Holmes hoarding but October Afternoon. I do use it but I hate to since it's no longer being made. I really should just make some sort of collage and get it framed so I'll at least have a little piece of my favorites forever. Now one brand that I bought so much of years ago (and still have quite a bit) and find really hard to use is K&Co. Their papers are truly beautiful but I just can't seem to get them to work for me. I don't really hoard things on purpose, but I have made some buying mistakes that leave me with unused stuff. I have some old BasicGrey paper that I love and adore, and I love looking at it, but it is probably never going to get used in scrapbooking layouts. I LOVE hoosfn's idea to make a collage, frame it and hang it up on the wall. That would free up some space in my paper organizer, fill some bare spots on my walls and make me smile every time I see it. Fantastic idea! And yes, same thing with K&Co paper. It is beautiful paper that is hard to use. I bought, like, a zillion sheets of it on sale for 10 cents per sheet a decade or so ago. I ended up using some of it to make cards. I just thought of a use for the rest of it: I should run it through the die cutter and use it to make small embellishments, because I am never going to use it as background paper for layouts. I also have bunches of purple paper that I bought before I realized that I do not actually use purple paper for much of anything. I love purple, and I love purple paper, but it just collects dust in my paper organizers. So I stopped buying it. The stuff I still have hanging around, it just occurred to me that I should spray and stencil over it with other colors to make it more usable. I LOVE most (but not all) of Maggie Holmes' stuff. LOVE her "Day to Day" collection and bought a few items from that. Love, love, LOVE her Round Trip collection and just loaded up on a bunch of those papers when Joann had them on sale for Black Friday. I just got 2 of her stamp sets a few days ago and have used both of them quite a bit already. I also got one of her stencils -- haven't used it yet but have plans for basically every image in it, so I think it will turn out to be money well spent. The rest of it, it is too early to tell if I will use it all, so I am hoping it will get scrapped and not just stored indefinitely. We shall see.

If I don't collect paper now, I won't have anything fun and vintage to play with in 10 years. I have to start aging some collections now, for future me to enjoy, haha! This post made me smile! If I could upvote it a thousand times, I would.
