This is partially a question and a vent. I just got done ordering quite a few Maggie Holmes pieces. The thing is, I don’t really use the stuff I buy from her collections. It doesn’t normally fit with the pictures I have to scrap and/or I feel like I need to save it all. I sort of collect it. Don’t get me wrong, I do use some but no where the amount I have collected. Also I should say I don’t buy everything she makes because as we know a lot of her collections are the same and I also don’t buy the things I would never use. Does anyone else do this with Maggie Holmes or any other brands?

I do this with Paper Person pocket page kits. I subscribe and get one every month but have probably only used 10% of those collections. I have a hard time using them because as much as I like them, they are fairly specific and won't be able to use them on everyday types of layouts.

Vicki Boutin for me!
I also "collection" cocoa vanilla and pink fresh...but those I use more regularly. The VB I use less but still need to have!

I do this with Maggie Holmes supplies, too. I feel like her collections are harder to use with regular family life pictures. I have a hard time using them if I don’t have perfect pictures of a tea party or DD in a pretty dress. I recently used a bunch of MH supplies for pictures of a trip to Carmel. Love how that layout turned out.

Yes - I have a ton of Maggie Holmes and have never used any of it! I’ve stopped buying her collections since I haven’t ever used what I have. I also have a lot of Shimelle and have only used a tiny bit of it.

I do this with Cocoa Vanilla. I find it easy enough to use the collections, but I typically love them so much that a part of me thinks I need to have a spare one (or more) in my stash in case I want to use it again. I'm ok with using embellishments, but paper is definitely my nemesis, I have more of this than probably any other brand in my stash. I shopped her BF sale this weekend and picked up a Storyteller bundle that has a lot of embellishments I already own, but my thinking was one I can use now, and one to admire.

I am a sucker for cute patterned paper like Doodlebug, but then when I try to use it I often find it's too busy or doesn't match my pictures. Sometimes I end up using the more subtle B side but then I feel like I am wasting the cute pattern on the other side. Yet I still "collect" it.

Maggie Holmes, Paige Evans, and Vicki Boutin. I love their products but they never work for me. The only products I can ‘crush’ are Ali’s. I have no issues using 90%+ of any of her kits.

Yes, me too! Maggie Holmes & Dear Lizzy products are very similar to me. I love them but I prefer not-so-perfect products.

I'm pretty ruthless when it comes to acquisitions.
If I can't immediately see myself using X, X does not get to come into the house. It doesn't stop me from staring longingly at all the cute little animal stamp sets though. I know I won't use them, so until that changes, they can't come in.
Could maybe make a case for the number of die sets I have. Sometimes I have multiple of the same design in different sizes, just because the versatility is fun. Strictly speaking I probably don't need multiples. But I want them! There's no specific collection that I buy without exception.

I kind of collect stamp sets and definitely don’t use them as fast as I buy them. But to be fair, I have mostly stoppped that more recently. I find that if I dont look, I don’t “need”.

Yes, I definitely have a “collection” problem, especially for Pinkfresh Studio currently, and discontinued manufacturers/lines like October Afternoon and Basic Grey. I have stopped buying full collections because I will never use all of the embellishments, die cuts, and stickers I currently have, and I now buy paper by the sheet and only purchase what I know I will use. But it took me awhile to get to this point, and a lot more active scrapping. Now that I am scrapping more, I have a much better handle on what I will use, and it’s become easier to say “no” to all the things

I collect supplies but not anyone in particular. I cannot pass up a free or give away table at a crop, or any truly cheap supply being sold off by others if I think I can use it someday. It is a sickness but not terminal thank God! Unless I get buried under my hoard!

Paper Person and sometimes Heidi Swapp. I buy and hoard a lot of AE stuff and I’m finding some of the older stuff seems dated or I don’t like it anymore and it’s not even that old. I need to use the stuff!
ETA: Instead of getting rid of it I'm planning to (one day) make mini books with my Cinch out of the papers I won't use, and give them to my daughter. I do have some maggie holmes sitting around.

I have collected quite a number of Karen Burniston, Elizabeth Craft and Spellbinders die sets that have never had the packages opened. Not that I would use them UP if I used them... Just have not found the perfect place and time.
I collect possibilities.

I think that is me with about everything.
But I've been on a scrapbooking binge in November and twice I pulled out papers that I thought were going on the "just to admire" pile.
I bought Stamperia Bauhaus, with no idea what I was going to use it for, and it ended up being one of my favorite layouts this month.
I also needed to an old Halloween picture of me wearing a pink prom dress. I was thinking: I wish they made Halloween scrapbook paper in pink. And then I remembered I bought that pink Prima Halloween paper. I never in a million years thought I'd use that paper and I love the layout I did with it.
Prima and Stamperia are both lines that are not my usual style at all and yet I find them slipping into my cart. I'm also not a cutesy scrapper so I have no need for Doodlebug. And yet I made 3 layouts with it this month. Pinkfresh is another one that just isn't my style, and yet I've made some nice layouts with it, too. I just struggle with it. I know I have way too much of all of those lines- much more than I'll ever use.
I learned long ago not to buy Maggie Holmes. I have 2 of her lines, bought way back, and I can only think of one layout I ever made with it.

Oh yes, guilty. Not of Maggie Holmes hoarding but October Afternoon. I do use it but I hate to since it's no longer being made. I really should just make some sort of collage and get it framed so I'll at least have a little piece of my favorites forever. Now one brand that I bought so much of years ago (and still have quite a bit) and find really hard to use is K&Co. Their papers are truly beautiful but I just can't seem to get them to work for me.

Paper Person -except I do use the stamps, it’s just the kit supplies that are harder to use. The ideas and themes are great, it just challenging. Whenever I use a piece on a page I’m pretty proud of myself. Lol Her next kit completes my sub and then I can cancel and I will NOT resub again like I just recently did for access to BF sale and xmas discount. I can buy any stamps offered outside of kits, but I have to let the kits go.

I think some sub kits can be this way for me. I’m going to pare down my subs in 2023. I love Paper person style, but like others, many products get unused. I do love her month cards and generic patterns and wish her kits had more month specific stuff because I would use it more. And the stamps are cool, but I find I use many once if at all, which is not a good ROI. So will end that sub, end AE SBTM sub when it runs out and possibly her monthly physical kit - waiting to see 2023 changes.
And too much Christmas stuff usually, although I really do use my AE stuff up pretty well. I need to write down what gets left over so I stop buying it. I did lay off VB and Crate paper this year bc I still have plenty from last year.

. This is it in a nutshell. I have so many more ideas than time but want the option. Fall supplies are my favorite, I've bought a ton the last couple of years but I haven't done any fall pages for 20, 21, or 2022 yet. I didn't let myself buy anything fall this year except a few digital supplies. I've also had to ruthlessly pare down since I don't have a space any more. It's been eye-open the stuff I let go of like tons die-cuts, there's just way too many in each kit for me use them all. I recently canceled my Coca Daisy kit sub. They were piling up unopened and while there's a few kits I adore, there's been at least 3 this year I didn't use at all. Cute, but not my style. I was just collecting so I canceled.

If I don't collect paper now, I won't have anything fun and vintage to play with in 10 years.
I have to start aging some collections now, for future me to enjoy, haha!

I subbed with SC for about 8 years slowly collecting the good stuff to use in the future… Im glad I stocked up because now I just grab one of those “vintage kits” & it’s so thrilling. Breaking into the brown paper bag or the big 13x13 zipper pouches brings back all the excitement of memory keeping. I used a few kits when I got them but tried to use them up before breaking out a new one. Guess I’m slow!

I collect in the "buy it when you see it, because if you wait you may never get it" kind of way.
A lot of scrapbook product is seasonal, quarterly?, etc.... New releases are usually not repeated or replenished because the company is on to the next line they come up with.
I often purchase products that I have no use for "right now", but I know it will get used eventually. If I love something I often buy more than one, such as birthday stuff. The same product can sometimes be used in a variety of ways.
I "collect" older discontinued products, that I see on ebay. Again the same theory of "buy it when you see it" or I may miss out. I mix old and new (and everything in-between) products.
My philosophy in regards to scrapbooking is >> it will get done when it gets done. My philosophy in regards to scrapbook products is >> it will get used when it gets used.

Patterned paper is my "thing" no matter who makes it, if I like it I have to buy it. I love dies too. I have SO much stuff that I will never be able to use it all.
I have decided that next year I'm going to place a ban myself - no more scrapping purchases for the entire year, except for essentials like adhesive. I'm also going to have a good cull, I have stuff I bought 15 years ago, still unopened.

Like Christmas; I prefer bright red and white, a bit of green, and black. I love an awesome vintage Santa paper. I bought five of these. I should use one.
The only two lines where I almost bought a collection was Pink Fresh Case of the blahs and EK Success's Coca-Cola line from many years ago.
I love using the old and the new on pages. Organizing by themes help to use it up.

It doesn't stop me from staring longingly at all the cute little animal stamp sets though. I know I won't use them, so until that changes, they can't come in. OMG, I thought it was just me! I do have Create a Critter cartridges that still work. I have to keep reminding myself, I don't NEED animal stamps. There's only one I'm going to allow myself to buy because of the expression on the cat's face.

I'm doing this right now, but with mini notebooks. Dumb me, thought I was buying a pack of traveler's notebooks. Instead it was the size of the Paper Person kits (4x6?).

Ever, ever, ever. I just don't. Don't like the cleanup, don't care for the whole inking/stamping process, don't enjoy trying to get perfect impressions, get annoyed dealing with embossing powders. It does not spark joy.But I still linger over those cute stamps. Stupid brain.
