ETA: I got to hold little Hailey for quite a while. I can't believe she is 8 mo. old already. She's a little afraid of strangers and we have only seen her twice, so I was happy that she allowed me to hold her. Could be the full tummy helped too. Awwww.... Hope someone got a photo!

Happy Boxing Day Pokeys! grammadee - it's my favourite day of the year too, for all the same reasons! DD (19) and her cousin (18) decided to go out to sushi tonight together as a treat but otherwise the house was verrrrry happy with leftovers. So much good food here! grammadee - love the (big!) gingerbread house! nylene - I'm so glad Hailey was down for a cuddle, and I'm really glad you were well again to enjoy your family time. joyfulnana - what a *wonderful* photo! The blanket is beautiful and at least you have next year's presents on "order" Linda - will you leave your trees up until 12th night? We did not do PJs this year because we all have plenty, but we did all unwrap long sleeve t-shirts so we'd be matchy. Unfortunately, we left mine in the mailbox...we'd express shipped it but forgot to retrieve it as we left in such a hurry because of the storm! So in all our photos, everyone else in in red and I'm in green. Oh well! We did have quite a terrible blizzardy drive to Ottawa. It's normally 5.5 hours with 2 bathroom breaks. This was 8 hours with 1 break. Our average speed was 70km/hour (40mph?). Our normal would be over 100km/hr (about 65mph). There were a few complete white out moments that had DH saying "uh oh uh oh" but the AWD vehicle was a good help! We had to take a different route than normal because the normal route is along Lake Ontario and it was closed by the storm. It was so nice to be here though!

grammadee - sounds like a great day today with no plans nylene - awww I'm glad she let you cuddle - eight months can be a tough age for that. kitbop - that sounds like an awful drive - glad you made it safely. Yes- trees will stay up until Epiphany. I wasn't going to do the pyjamas this year but when I suggested that, DD16 and DH were both disappointed so I got them for the 3 of us. I got the bottoms at Sam's club an just picked up coordinating tees...and mine didn't fit. So I'm in a light blue tee and H and DD are both in Navy blue in our pictures. leftovers here today and tomorrow. Not expecting the big kids until 10pm or later - it's a 10-12 hour drive and DS works tomorrow before they can set off.

Awww so happy you got to hold the newest GGD nylene and that you had a holiday full of family. It sounds wonderful. Glad you made it safe kitbop, but man that sounds like a harrowing drive! Thanks for the love on the blanket, it was super easy, and the yarn came packaged with those colors. Now I'll find colors for everyone else, and at least I have a year right? Linda enjoy having your family under one roof!

Great to see you all had or will have family time. I did virtually nothing this year for dinner prep except buy the ham and peel some potatoes. We do a white elephant gift exchange with lots of laughter and good natured ribbing of one another. This year one of the guys got stuck with bath bombs! fabulous pictures gramma and what an awesome guest! Last minute cleaning here before the kids arrive this evening...need to do a quick grocery run and also drop off recycling. If we have space in the car, I would like to drop off donations also but...we'll see. Might do some baking - still haven't made mince pies or toffee triangles.

Love the family photos, gramma . And here's to shared work and shared fun! I cooked the dinner on Christmas Day, but since then have been basically kicked out of my kitchen while dd & hubby look after everything, especially the cleanup. Today though I am booked to make waffles & bacon for lunch and turkey a la king for supper.
ETA and your grinch photos are a HOOT!
ETA. My ddil from Calgary called me twice Christmas morning, crying, she was so overwhelmed with the frame we made her.
Wow. What a road trip, kitbop ! Hope you have an easier time getting home. Love that you were able to improvise for your pj pic's. I thought I was the only one whose memory sometimes has glitches. But I guess the next generation is catching up... This year one ds & ddil discovered the gifts they had intended to send us under their tree Christmas morning. (They will be here in time for Ukrainian Christmas January 7th). Dd left her dad's gc's and the ham at home when they drove out here. Hope your ds and dd have a safe and pleasant trip to your home, Linda . And Happy Second Christmas! You will be busy knitting all year, joyfulnana , now that you have demonstrated your knitting skills with that wonderful blanket for Rudy. I love the idea of a "magic sleeping chair". Dd's family springs for new Christmas pj's for themselves and for us each year. I will share our pj pic in a bit.

grammadee Ummm is that a cat in the house? ;-) Only for short periods per day in her kennel or on someone's lap. She has been moved from the deck to the attached garage with the other farm animals. Dd's cat comes to visit when they do, but she stays in their room upstairs.

grammadee - love the photos! And I spy a happy indoor lap kitty... I'm done with my housework - dh is still working on rearranging his bonus room and DD is still cleaning her room. Kids are on the road - hoping to see them around 11 or 12

grammadee and gramma, I love your photos. I love hearing about all the fun you have had with your family. Your DDIL must have been so thrilled with your thoughtful gift, grammadee! And where did you find such a Grinchy guest, gramma? Would you believe that I have never seen the Grinch movie and don't really know the story. Every year I think I will watch it, but it never seems to be on when I have time to watch. What fun for your family! Linda, you sound all ready for the arrival of your older kids and another great Christmas together. I hope they travel safely. joyfulnana, I love the blanket and what a great idea to make more through the year. You know they will be loved and appreciated! What colors are you planning? kitbop, I am sorry about your scary ride! I drove to Idaho once in a terrible storm and would never want to do it again. I'm sorry about your pajamas. But that photo will always show that you are so special you get your own Christmas color. LOL. Hope you have an easier trip home, but glad you could get away! I didn't have to do any clean up of dinner this year because Tori did it all while I held Hailey. And, yes, grammadee, she did take photos. It seems I am never in the Christmas photos, probably because I am behind the camera. I haven't added a single point in the teams this quarter. Life and Covid just got in my way. I hope to be able to recreate some of the things I did. I just made cards, not a single layout. I was not a very good team player this time. I hope the rest of the Pokeys are doing well now that the busyness is over. Pop in and let us know how you are all doing.

Hope the "kids" are home safe and sound, Linda. And that you are feeling re energized so you are able to enjoy all the family fun. Things are pretty quiet here this morning. Dd is working remotely from her room upstairs. Dh has gone to town for an appointment, and dsil took dgs to a local ski hill for some snowboard lessons. I used the quiet time to put together a couple of pages. Just grabbed the top photos of the pile, so Patches is featured again. The page I did before will be for the calendar. This LO will go into my album. Patches by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Hope all the Pokeys are well, and rested up.

Absolutely adorable grinch party-crasher gramma! What a great memory for those kids. What a great costume! We are home and I'm back to work tomorrow. Busy unpacking and doing laundry which is one of the worst parts of a trip! We still haven't opened our family's gifts. We plan to do that New Year's Eve. With extended family, we all had jam-packed stockings, and 1-2 gifts each only (across the families, not within the family). gramma, lookie what I did Untitled by kirstendrew, on Flickr The stitching is really neat and tidy and I'm very happy with the new functionality!!!

Happy New Year's Eve everyone.
I'm worn out - not sure I'll make it to midnight tonight. We went to the art museum in the city and then a bunch of stores and only just got home. My knees aren't the least bit happy with me - between overdoing it cleaning the house and then helping DH re-arrange his bonus room on Tuesday, hiking on Thursday, and then the museum today...I think I'll skip the planned hike tomorrow morning

I'm catching up on this thread and I LOVE all the photos you guys! I forgot to get my group shot, even though I mentioned several times that I wanted to get one. I'm really bummed about that, but next year. The one of me and Rudy is a good substitute Linda I would be exhausted too! And my knees wouldn't be happy with me about all that walking either. I hope you get restful sleep and if it were me, I would skip the hike tomorrow and relax I'm still stranded at home, it's not the battery, it's the alternator. So now I've got to call and see if the extra warranty stuff they talked me into covers this. It better lol. Rudy slept over last night. There was a water main break downtown and we are right on the outside edge of the boil advisory,so I've been doing that too. I said the other day that surely 2023 would be better, when I remembered that every year of this decade has gotten worse, not better so I won't be setting a high bar for this year lol. I hope you all have a wonderful evening!

We won’t make it to midnight. A friend invited us over for supper and board games but we left by 10. I don’t want to jinx myself but 2023 pretty much has to be better for us. I love seeing all your pictures. I’ll try and share a few tomorrow. Happy New Year, my friends.
