aKathy's What's for Dinner 12/1

Rainy, windy and a high of 48 degrees ~ perfect day to stay inside and decorate the tree. Chicken Noodle soup is on the menu!

I hope some of my seasonal memes don't offend anyone. As I've said before, I have a warped sense-of-humor.

I have a cold, the flu or COVID based on my throaty voice. My dad isn’t well either.

Dinner tonight could be anything at this point. I am eating alone.

I just lent a charger block to a student who only half likes me so he can charge his phone ... always try to build good relationships!   

I am so not into this day at work!  It is eleventy below zero outside and all I want to do is hibernate!

My mum is coming over for dinner ... we are having a Hello Fresh salmon dish ... yum!    


I had some small furniture delivered yesterday and it looks so good!  I will post photos on the weekend!

Today has been a little bit of everything again. A couple of loads of laundry, including washing all the baby sweaters I have made for babies back home. I finally found my 'knit by Oma' labels, in a bag I am sure I have looked in several times, go figure!

After lunch, I was in to After-school care again for more craft. we made Christmas trees, stars and a rather complicated ball ornament (not my project, so it tool some figuring out. It is so lovely going in there - the kids are so enthusiastic to see me, even those who don't want to do any of the crafts. I have a new bestie in one of the first graders - she mainly spoke English before starting school (mum is American) and so she loves to talk to me as a break from having to speak German. I even had to say hello to her mum at the end of the session today!
After all the kids were collected, I dropped by the Asian grocery that is on the way to my train/tram station. They have a lovely curry laksa paste that I can't get at my new Asian store out here, so I stocked up. Then I took the tram to the city, to visit a part of the Christmas markets I haven't made it to this year. They have an ice-skating rink there, and it is fun to drink glühwein and watch-

Dinner tonight is a local Greek restaurant. We had planned to go there a day or two after we moved here, but DH put his back out and couldn't walk, so we ordered in. Tonight, we are finally going to make it. Even though we have moved to the edge of Munich, there is a great variety of restaurants out this way. The only ones missing are a Tha and a Mexican. We have Italian, Greek, Croatian, Turkish, Indian and of course a Bavarian biergarten!

The big bright side is we weren’t sick while away. I am grateful for that! We will test for COVID later. I doubt it is.

Today, I am moving slowly but not feeling bad. DH feels better, but is afraid of overdoing it. ODS feels better. We had groceries delivered and I loaded and unloaded the dishwasher. Now I have to throw a load of laundry in. Dinner tonight is whatever each of us feels like eating.we still have chicken soup. Some we froze.

I’ve been taking them with ginger ale. It’s not so bad today and I do feel a whole lot better so that’s good. I hope you all are feeling better to in your household. I think because I’m vaccinated and got the latest booster shot in October that this is really kept it as a very mild case.

The Birdhouse Lady how has your recovery gone? Are you feeling better yet? Was the surgery a success?

I got it after 5 vaccines. I don't think the vaccines are supposed to keep you from getting it, just makes it much milder if you do. Seems awfully fast to get it from the funeral. I'm thinking since you were on vacation, there were lots of chances including the flights to get it.

Hope you both have a mild case.

Every single person I know who has traveled in the past 6 months has come down with COVID. I am not setting foot in my office right now.

My mom is on a cruise right now. I told .y sister I think we ought to quarantine her when she comes home for several days before we spend any time with her. I don't want COVID for Christmas.

My throat isn’t smooth and I am very tired. I had chills early this morning and was under a heavy feather duvet and was cold and achy.

For now I don’t feel badly laying down. I am just ‘sick’ and will take it easy.

Welcome back!  And absolutely - everyone I know who's been on a cruise caught covid - sure it's anecdotal but this close to xmas I'd definitely encourage her to quarantine and test before visiting. 

No clue on dinner - our Blue Apron box has a shrimp pasta dish that looks tasty, maybe that will be on tap.
