Ready to have trump as Speaker of the House? Can you imagine the chaos he would cause?
So it seems one does not have to be a member of the House to be Speaker. The idea was floated a while back that if the Republicans regained the majority in the House they would make dumpster don the Speaker of the House. Find ways to force President Biden and VP Harris to resign and dumpster don as next in line as Speaker of the House would become President. Far fetched?
Tonight this guy suggested renegade Republicans have their own non House member candidate for Speaker of the House. Is it trump? Or someone else like maybe Newt Gingrich who doesn’t seem to go quietly into the night?
Kevin McCarthy is no Nancy Pelosi which makes him a weak candidate. Last I heard he didn’t have the needed number of votes to win.
On one hand you want to say no way the House Republicans would be that dumb to elect trump as Speaker.
But I have to tell you, never in a million years would I believe what has happened these last 6 years with trump could have happened. But yet here we are.

If that's really their strategy, Ron DeSantis would be a better pick than Trump. There's also rumors Trump has dirt on a lot of people though.

On one of the other threads I asked would a non elected person were made Speaker would they stay in the line of succession?
Just remember that if Biden were ousted, Harris would be sworn in immediately as president and she would name a VP. Or if she was ousted Biden would appoint a new VP immediately.
The only disastrous time would be if they were bumped off at the same immediate time.

I can see them trying to install Trump to protect him from prosecution.

6 months ago I was genuinely worried about the possibility. I still think it's possible, but it seems less likely after Trump's candidates did poorly in the election. The Republicans care about winning and I think even they are starting to see that it's not possible with Trump. I also think after being President, Trump would not want to be Speaker. He wants back into the spot light, but he doesn't actually want to work and I don't think his ego would allow him to take a less powerful position. But, Merge has an excellent point. If he thought it would save him from indictments, he might be more inclined.

How will it reflect on the house republicans, though, for them to stand up and say they don’t have anyone with enough support to be speaker among their own ranks? Seems like a weak way to begin a majority term.

I think it's going to be a circus, especially in comparison to the relatively smooth process for the Democrats. But, I think after making a lot of noise, the Republicans will unite behind McCarthy. If they don't, a Democrat could possibly take charge and they won't let that happen.

McCarthy with MTG literally glued to his hip.
Although Matt Gaetz has been mentioned...
But more than likely MTG will be Ringmaster!

If he weren't such a narcissist that he couldn't stand somebody else as the center of attention, this would fit his criteria.

Not paying attention to the TV here.. oops... There was a representative on saying there could be an 'outside' Speaker named by them. They'll tell in a few weeks.

Thank heaven they don’t have the Senate.

One more time, these are deeply unserious people. They're very serious about destroying our system of government.

I mean look at the jack asses who wanted to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer
