If you use Avery Elle envelopes, do you combine smaller stamps into one envelope? What do you use for the backing?

I put inexpensive cardstock that’s just a bit smaller than the Avery Elle pocket in it for stability and for any samples that are placed behind the cardstock.
Often small stamp will have its own pocket, and I stamp it at the top of the cardstock to see it as I leaf through pockets.
But if several small stamps have similar sentiments or images, they’re put in one packet.

I store my stamps by company so I will combine two small sets of the same company into one pocket.
I use the Michaels Recollections white cardstock as my pocket backer. If my stamp set has coordinating dies, they go behind the cardstock.
I tried the Joanns Park Lane cheap white cardstock and it was just too grey for my liking.

Same as others, simple white cardstock backing. I’ve been using Neenah index weight. I do not combine stamp sets. Avery offers 3 sizes of pockets, I use them all. I have a numbered system for my stamps with a binder of each image stamped.

I used to do it similar to CardBoxer and the others but I felt like I wasn't seeing all the stamps properly. I know, weird! So I bought the smaller size (5x5, think) pockets and put each stamp in its own pocket and file all those "mini's" together in one bin.
One other thing I've changed up. Instead of put a piece of cardstock in the pocket, I just trim down the companies packaging stock that comes with the stamp and use that as my backer. I like that because 1) I'm not using extra cardstock, and 2) I can quickly flip through and look for a certain manufacturer by their logo.
ETA: also I've looked high and low for stamps or dies I know I have but can't find and they've been in the back of another pocket because I combined them! I'm on a mission to correct that by giving each stamp it's own pocket.

I also do this but mostly for my large stamp sets (6x8) in the extra large Avery Elle pocket. My OCD can’t handle the way it looks in the regular size pockets because there is too much naked space on the sides. 😁

Like some others I put dies in the stamp pockets behind the cardstock if the dies only make sense if used with the stamps.
If the dies can stand alone they’re in die bins in pocket with a note/code on the pocket naming the stamp category and set they go with. And the stamp pocket has a note that there are dies.
I also sometimes include stamp packaging, but cut down and placed behind the cardstock. Not always.

I keep my few stamps in a planner sized 7-ring binder rather than envelopes, but I do combine sets. I just don't have enough of them to waste that much space giving a whole page to a single stamp or two. For my backer sheets I use laminated white cardstock. The stamps stick right on, which is convenient.

Only stamps I combing are really small stamps ( less than 3x4 ) from the same company.

Stamp organizing newbie here - what’s the advantage to using stamp pockets instead of the original packaging, other than uniformity-aesthetics? The stamp pockets seem to be thicker material and would take up more space.

I use a white cardstock backer, one stamp set per envelope. If I have a coordinating die it goes in the back (behind the cardstock). If the die set has little pieces I add a trimmed down magnetic vent cover to hold the dies to reduce the likelihood that I lose something. The front top left corner gets a label with an abbreviation for the company name + the stamp title {Example: LF Scootin By (Lawn Fawn Scootin By)}. If I find it helpful I'll trim down the manufacturer's packaging to keep in the pocket.

The stamp pockets seem to be thicker material and would take up more space. Easier to flip through + see what I have. When they're different sizes sometimes the packages want to go whomper-jawed as I flip. Little packages are harder to see. If you're using stampin up designs those CD cases take up a lot of space and are harder to store. And tbh the uniformity is pleasing to me

Stamp organizing newbie here - what’s the advantage to using stamp pockets instead of the original packaging, other than uniformity-aesthetics? The stamp pockets seem to be thicker material and would take up more space. Some people use the original packaging—100% fine. I like pocket uniformity mainly because it’s easier to speedily flip through them. Other than full coverage 6x6 stamps and a few giants, all stamps are in the same size pockets. And some packaging is a bit too wide for my bins. But I keep some of it sometimes behind the cardstock. Once in a while a stamp set is a bit too wide so surgery is done, cutting through the stamps/index sheet to fit the pocket, but avoiding the stamps. I sort by category, other than one company, so if wanting leaves I head to Leaves, sometimes pulling out a few/a lot, easy when they’re all together. Others find it easier to sort by manufacturer. Designers usually have to..

Thank you for all of the ideas! I try to use original packaging with 4 x 6 or 6x8 stamps. Laminated Cardstock might be the perfect solution for the smaller ones to combine them. Thank you!
The original crinkly packaging makes me twitchy and the resealable flap drives me crazy which is why I use Avery Elle pockets (or knock-offs)

The original crinkly packaging makes me twitchy and the resealable flap drives me crazy which is why I use Avery Elle pockets (or knock-offs) If I use original packaging I slice it down the right side so I can get the stamps in and out without wrestling with the stupid sticky flap. I also chop the hang tag part off the top. I don’t like the crinkly sound but with the slice down the side/quick access it’s not so noticeable. I’m another who often just cuts down the packaging to fit into a storage envelope. I wish there was more uniformity in packaging sizes, just so that it’s easier to store and flip through them. I put them in storage envelopes if the plastic gets torn or the size is annoying.

If I am combining small stamps it is usually the same manufacturer or they are a similar theme. Ex - I have several of the small Lawn Fawn stamps (like the Year 1,2, etc or the smaller $4 sets) and I put several of them in one stamp pocket. I prefer the stamp pockets over original packaging as I tend to rip the original packaging and I prefer the uniform look and sturdiness of the stamp pockets.

Yes, I forgot about the original packaging ripping too easily with my clumsy hands. And like your example, I have three tiny magic wand stamps from Kae Pea (Rubber Moon) that are in one pocket, each stamped at the top of the cardstock. Then it doesn’t matter if they’re toward the bottom of the pocket when quickly flipping through.

So I can't tell what backing you are referring to, but I have combined 2x3 and 1x6 stamps to fit into pockets and give them the same backing (Grafix P05DC0912 9 x 12”, Pad of 25 – Ultra-Clear .005” Film, Acetate Alternative, Glossy Surface for Coverings, Stencils, Color Separation, Window Applications, Transparencies a.co/d/4kHu5bF). This stuff is great. I don't like to combine stamps into a single pocket unless I can guarantee they'll stay put and not slide into each other. It also works great for companies that don't use a stiff backer on their stamps (like some of my old technique tuesday stuff). For the stability in the pockets, I buy the 100 sheet white cardstock when it is 50% off at HL. I buy both letter and 12x12 because each has less waste depending on the size I need.
