these are so useful!! I think I bought them from someone's recommendation here, too. elaine 's, maybe?? They're really helpful 1) because they're FLAT on the bottom, and 2) because it seems like cashiers in some stores are trained that the max item # you can put in any plastic bag is ridiculously small (like only 3-4 items). These bags hold a LOT more than most cashiers would typically put into a plastic bag. eta: I also use one as my "library book" bag because it's easier to carry than a typical 'bookbag' shoulder tote bag. Yes, I have been singing the praises of these for a few years now (since pre-COVID)! I love them and use them for everything - even bringing things into work. Today I was able to bring a number of things, including a new orchid, safely and undamaged. Cashiers almost always comment on how much they like bagging in them too. They hold so much, it is incredible.

I wish I could remember, but it was a thread about something you bought that you loved. Someone suggested these Shopping Boxes
Normally I would not spend almost $30 on something I don't "need" and I have so very many reusable shopping bags and totes. But I find that cashiers at WalMart do not want to or cannot use my reusable bags. They are so automated that if I give them a bag that isn't on their spinny thing they can't handle it. And I am overrun with single use plastic bags. Even though I have a cat with litter to clean and numerous small garbage cans to line, still I have been overrun. So I got these and now, if I go to WalMart, I bring 2 of these boxes, folded flat in my cart. At the register, I open the boxes and they sit it on top pf the spin rack and they pack the box. I have severe back pain and I cannot easily bend and twist. When I get home, instead of having to unload numerous bags from my trunk, which is so painful, I can briefly pick one of these up, put in the utility cart I use to bring groceries from my car to my door, and I only do that twice. They hold a lot and I can look into them to see what is in there, rather than searching thru many bags for my perishables, or digging in bags. If you have a big family to shop for, I'm not sure 3 would be enough but for me, I never need more than 2. Just 1 of these holds A LOT. Best of all, in the short time I have owned these I have not brought one more darn plastic bag into my home. SO ... thank you for the suggestion!!! Just your local neighborhood enabler, here! These are the best thing since sliced bread.

These seem like the utility bags from 31. Are they similar to those?

I have enough disposable plastic bags to open my own store. And I have plenty of reusable bags, but of course, they got put onto a pod. I decided I needed these as well. I found these, 12 bags for $27.99, and can come up with several uses for them. I used to use one of those wire wheeled shopping carts to transfer my groceries from Costco to my house, but this house has a couple of stairs from the garage level to the house level. My back wouldn't appreciate me lugging the heavy wheeled cart up those stairs so these smaller bags would be better. I suppose I could still use the cart by putting the cart inside the hallway and transferring the bags from the car into the cart to wheel to the kitchen and laundry room. The laundry room is on the opposite side of the house from the garage and of course, that is where the heaviest items would need to go. Yes use your cart to move the bags to the other side of you house ..

These seem like the utility bags from 31. Are they similar to those? The pictures look similar - I don't own any 31 bags. However, you can get 3 of these for between $20-$30, as opposed to 1 bag for $33 + shipping & handing over all your contact info to an MLM. I tried to see what shipping would be as a comparison, but can't get any information without entering my home address and selecting a consultant. This is one of those cases where MLM’s are slimey. That said, 31’s bags appear to be over 3 times as expensive.

Oh thank you! I deliver for Amazon and this will be perfect for organizing the packages instead of them rolling all over the seat. I got the green, blue, and purple set for $21 including shipping. And if they don’t work out, I can always use them for groceries like you do.

I just noticed the holiday bags are $35.99 because all of the other sets are on for 30% off right now. I think the holiday themed bags would be good to use instead of wrapping paper or a paper gift bag. Then the recipient can use the bag for shopping after opening their gift. And if your gift is on the heavy side, these plastic bags are better than a paper gift bag. That's a really good idea. I like the gift bag idea. Unfortunately the WalMart people by me would not be able to work with the bags. I already have bags like these and it's a pain. I've even had some of them bag my stuff so badly I wondered if they were doing it on purpose. I really like that the shopping boxes aren't so tall and the sides don't flop down.

An acquaintance just sent me an amazing gift for my granddaughters, and I was looking for a small but nice thank you. She lives in California and I know they don't really use plastic bags there. This seemed to be a great thank you gift - inexpensive, pretty, and usable.
Then a set popped up with one thermal bag and I thought that my son in California can probably use those, so I ordered those to go in his Christmas box.
Anyway, thanks!!

I have a number of 31 bags, and they are made to last a long time, structured, heavy duty, made with quality fabrics. They aren’t $5-$10 bags. Even without the MLM upcharges, they’d be more expensive than the shopping boxes/bags.

The 31 tote I have (it was a gift so I have no idea which one - huge rectangle) has zero rigidity aside from the wire/frame at the top so the fabric sags way down if you put anything with weight in it. I actually dislike it for this reason and rarely use it. I don't think it would work nearly as well for groceries as these bags.

Maybe it’s missing a hard base that’s supposed to go inside? Or maybe it was meant for some specific purpose that that particular construction would work well for?

As a grocery cashier(though I'm in gas station now instead of in store) I can say us cashiers LOVE this type. They are awesome and hold so much How do you like the gas station? I used to work for King Soopers (Kroger) and had to cover the gas station sometimes. I hated it so much. Most of the time it was ok but the worst part was the dang trash. And that is where the hate comes in….Lol…

Pros are I've done it so long I have a really solid routine, and we get to sit down when able which physically works better for me having a couple chronic pain issues. But it gets lonely as there's no one to talk to-- but sometimes that's a perk too. Another con is that people treat you worse out there, way worse.
