After seeing all of the lovely gold foil in others DD albums, I am considering a Minc machine. I have read through some old threads on here and know that several of you just use a laminating machine. Does it really give you the same results? Also, does anyone have the Minc Mini machine? I wouldn’t use it for anything bigger than a 4x6 so I was considering the smaller size. Any pros/cons or good deals that anyone knows about?

I have the Mini Minc. I got it at TM for a steal! I also have a $20 Scotch laminator. In the little that I have done, I can't tell the difference between the 2 of them. I actually use the laminator more as I have been using it as a laminator. I am pretty sure you can laminate with the Minc. I think I saw Heidi do that.

It looks like it’s been discontinued but there are some on eBay. Hmm… I might try a laminator first!

merry27, up to 6 inches. There is one on Michaels for $70. I would go the laminator track before I would that much for the mini.

I have seen people heat emboss with clear embossing powder and then foil through the minc. I tried it with my laminator and it didn’t work. I had been thinking about giving the minc a try to see if it works for me.

I did not get the same results with a laminator. I have a mini and it was janky, I think it was a return on Amazon, it always seemed to have little bits of something stuck to whatever I fed through it.
I bought a full size one from Scrapbook.com, it was on sale, and have been very happy with it. I tried it today with a laserjet transparency and it worked well.
The key IMO is to print using a laserjet printer. I've also had better luck with DecoFoil than with regular Minc foils.

I have a mini Mint and used to use a laminator. I got much better results with the mini Mint. I tried letting the laminator heat up for several minutes and would run my piece through the laminator twice...I was never able to get full coverage.

My results with a laminator were hit or miss. This is like the 3rd year that I've been trying to talk myself into a minc. I'm just not sure how much I'll use it, kwim?
