I am moderately cautious, but DH just got his first positive test this morning. My test was negative, but I think it’s likely I will test positive by the end of the week. We are both fully vaccinated and got the updated boosters in September, so I anticipate our cases will be manageable at home. I’m kinda bummed he got a positive test, but I feel it was only a matter of time, and we were fortunate to avoid it for almost 3 years.

I am moderately cautious in that we haven't gone to a Christmas party since 2019. Having said that, when we traveled to Ireland in May and Croatia in September we didn't wear masks much at all. DH caught it in May and I caught it in September. Both really mild cases and we've gotten 5 shots as of September.

I've had it twice. The first was last Christmas. We got it from my Dad. We were still wearing our masks when in public, but he would only wear his when it was required. He lives in Orlando, so we were doing theme parks. He did notice (and felt bad) that our N95s did protect us from the original infection and we got it from home.
2nd time was more of a shocker. We got it from an outdoor concert, end of June. Omicron is a stinker that way. The older gentleman sitting next to me was coughing a lot.
DH works from home, I don't work, no kids, no regular friend groups so it's been easy to figure out the when, because most of the time it's just the 2 of us at home. We still wear our masks when traveling because it's never fun to get sick early in your vacation. We don't wear our masks during day to day things, but we are still avoiding crowded areas / crowded shopping times. We're double-vaxxed, boosted, and bivalent boosted. So I picked moderately cautious.

My level of caution varies based on a lot of factors. If a place is crowded, Im wearing a mask. If we are outside, I am not wearing a mask. Now that it is cold and flu season, we wont eat in restaurants very much at all- that was our norm before Covid as well. I have not tested positive for Covid and neither have dh, ds, or my mom.

Neither DH or I have had it but we have had the 4 injections (1 and 3 boosters) available and we still wear masks out especially shopping and in enclosed situations.
None of our friends have had it either but they are all as cautious as we have been.

Cautious now or 'back then'? I was reasonably cautious then. I answered for the early days of the virus Now, I barely think about it. Cases are very low and I can't remember the last time I tested myself. I've had all the recommended jabs and haven't had it as far as I'm aware. I guess in a more general sense. For instance, the first year prior to the vaccination I was very cautious. When Delta, and the Omicron reared their ugly heads I became more cautious for a period of time. I'd now consider myself moderately cautious. I'll wear a mask is when I'm at a show, on a plane, or other places I'll be seated elbow to elbow with strangers for a decent period of time. Otherwise, I don't generally mask up. I still test if I'm sick for a number of days, and a Thanksgiving guest tested (not at my request) when she was under the weather with a fever the day beforehand. So my answer would be in the moderate category. This is how I answered as well. DS had Covid last Christmas. We managed to keep him sequestered and no one got it (that we know of). DH & DS went to Scotland this summer and DH got covid. DD & I went to Italy, leaving 2 days before DH & DS returned home, and we both got it towards the end of our trip. We have had 3 of the 4 jabs, but I didn't want to do flu & covid at the same time, I wanted to space them out, and got the flu shots first. DS had to get a meningitis vaccine and before that he was on an antibiotic for an ingrown toenail. So we pushed our shots off until early Nov, and DS just got over the flu anyway . I was hoping DD & I could ride the Covid immunity until she got home in December to get the 4th booster (none of us do well with them, and she is particularly bad). DH got the shingles vax, so he got flu & covid together and felt kind of yucky. So DD, DS and I will probably go before Xmas.

I was very cautious for the first year and did not get covid. I had it in October after dining out in a crowded restaurant. Clearly I'm not being as cautious as before. I'm due for the newest booster but waiting until 3 months after having Covid. My pharmacy said you no longer need to wait after being infected

I'm not very cautious, have only had the first 2 vaccinations, and have not yet gotten COVID. (even when my DH had it.)
I was at the beginning, when mask-wearing was required all over the place-- that was in AZ. Since moving to MO, I've only been required to wear a mask in the hallway at the hospital, in the doctor's office, etc. and at work ONLY when I was informed about a close contact with a coworker who tested positive.

I have it right now and wasn’t careful enough. I should have worn a mask to the funeral and didn’t. That was dumb and I know better.

Well until last week I was Covid free... blah... I was moderately cautious throughout the epidemic but I would say I was back to living like normal (pre covid) except maybe a tiny bit more cautious.
I have no idea how our whole family got it (except DD).. the three of us that got it did go out to eat right before Thanksgiving and believe we must have gotten it there. We all within a day started feeling bad.
Oh yeah.. I have had four shots so far... DUMB DH and DS has not had any shots at all. My husband was just slightly worse off than I was.. DS was similar to me. DH ran a big temp for awhile. DS and I never ran a temp...

Whether someone is moderate or cautious with COVID protocols is probably subjective. I consider myself to be moderately cautious now. I wear a mask when I'm in close proximity to people, but I will go maskless if a store is pretty empty and I can socially distance myself. Some people would consider that to be very cautious. I have never tested positive for COVID.

I describe myself as moderately cautious (I've always followed guidelines and erred on the side of caution, but I teach a huge number of students and interact with a lot of other people, so only so cautious I can consider myself). I believe I had COVID waaaaay back at the beginning before things shut down, but haven't had it since, even though I get exposure notices a few times a week and five of my household members had it (I even unknowingly shared a hotel room with a COVID-infected kid).

Too many variables….cautious at the beginning, in the middle or now? Cautious by pea standards or by regional standards?
I was cautious at the beginning and followed all of the rules and most of the recommendations. At this point the only thing I’m still doing is not licking my fingers to open the stupid plastic bags at the grocery store (why did I ever do that before? Gross), haven’t worn a mask in eons. I work closely with germ magnets, go shopping and have traveled unmasked for quite awhile now. (Peas would be horrified at my carelessness, yet I was cautious far longer than most in my community)
Got vaccinated in April 21 and boosted in Dec 21, at this point I don’t intend to get another booster but will if a more severe strain reappears.
Got 1 very mild case in Jan 22.

Why are you working through insurance? You're back in the States, right? Just go to a pharmacy and make an appointment. I haven't paid for any of my covid shots. I don't think any of them have even asked for my insurance card to be honest. Maybe the first set of shots, but after that, nope. Interesting. We asked about it at CVS in MN and were told that they had to run it through insurance. DH is especially complicated, as he can't get care at the VA until he retires on January 1. Until then, his official dr is the one he used in Belgium and he can't get any medical care that isn't authorized by his PCM and he can't get an appointment because he isn't in Belgium... We were going to ignore the rules and just get the dang thing as it's mandated by congress for the military, but they said he needs to run it through insurance. And the only insurance he has is through the military. Maybe it's just a CVS thing? I've gotten vaccines through Walgreens and Rite Aid with no issues.

I had Covid in March 2020, right at the very start of the pandemic, before they even knew exactly how Covid was transmitted. I had the high fever, fatigue and headache but very mild respiratory symptoms. I was glad I was one of the people who didn't get extremely sick from it. DH had it right before I did (I got it from him) but we didn't know it was Covid at the time as his symptoms were extremely mild - just a minor headache and fatigue. He didn't know he'd had it until he donated blood in July 2020 and his blood tested positive for Covid antibodies. We both followed all of the safety protocols as long as they were in place. We weren't too worried about getting Covid again since we knew we could survive it. Both of us work in essential industries so we never were on complete lockdown. DH's job transitioned to home but I had to go to work every day, where we had strict safety protocols in place.
DH and I both were vaccinated as soon as we were eligible, got the second vaccine to be fully vaccinated and got boosters. As Covid symptoms became milder as the virus mutated we became less cautious. We traveled when we could (still wore masks and distanced where possible) but we weren't really worried about our own health - we just didn't want to get anyone else sick if we were infected but had no symptoms. I got Covid again last July while on a cruise. We both tested negative for Covid before we got on the ship but at the last day of the cruise I started to feel a little "off" and when we got home the next day I took a Covid test just in case and to my surprise it turned out positive. I had no fever, headache, nothing but a slightly stuffy nose. I've felt much sicker when I've had the flu or even colds in the past.
I'm a practical and cautious person for the most part, but I didn't let Covid or the worry of Covid rule my life. However, I knew from pretty much the beginning of the pandemic that I could survive it so I'm sure that made a difference. I do have one slight regret during that time. My mom lived halfway across the country from me. I last saw her in November 2019. She died of colon cancer in October 2021 and I only got to see her once about a month before she passed away. If it weren't for Covid I would have visited her much more often, but I was afraid of carrying germs to her and making her sick. Hindsight is 20/20 and I had her best interests at heart but I would give anything to have had more time with her in person.

Definition of moderately cautious. Since I mask up in stores (still) I put that I was caution and still covid free.

I have never been cautious at all. My household locked down for 2 weeks in March of 2020 and that was it. After that, we saw friends, went to restaurants even before they were “supposed” to reopen. Went to Disney and Universal the second they reopened. Took tons of flights in 2020. Hated masks and only wore them when forced. No one in my household ever had it. No one in all of my extended family ever had it. I don’t know any friend or acquaintance who died of it or even had a serious case of it. Now I don’t even think about it except when someone talks about it here 🤷🏻♀️ This is my family, too. Except we have all had Covid. I’ve had it twice. We were all fine. DH and I got the first 2 shots (we had to in order to travel) but neither of us have or will get a booster. I rarely see Covid or masks mentioned anywhere except on here. I do live in Texas though- haha.

I'm somewhere between not very cautious and moderately cautious. We each have gotten 4 shots. We don't wear masks in public anymore now that our county is at the green level (finally). At the same time, we don't go to many events. It's just us here so no school germs. But we go out to eat twice a week.
At least half of co workers have had it. Both kids have had it. My dad had it. I'm pretty sure none of our siblings have had it. MIL managed to avoid it when working as a nurse and then retired a year early.

I was very cautious at the beginning before the vaccine, now not really cautious at all. I caught it in NYC in June after having the vax 2x and 1 booster. I had the second booster in October.
Obviously if I were around immunosuppressed people, my behavior would be different.

I put moderately cautious, although I was much more cautious early on. I needed to protect my brother and his wife, who were both super high risk, and I was doing their shopping, during senior hours and always wearing a mask and sanitizing. I really didn’t want to get it and I very much did NOT want to infect anyone else.
I don’t wear a mask now unless it’s required. I’m fully vaccinated and boosted. However, I’m still not real comfortable with the idea of something like a cruise. I have two cousins who are on one now and they stayed away from the family Thanksgiving because they didn’t want to run any risks before they left. Honestly, I’d be more worried about coming home with it and possibly messing up Christmas.
I have never tested positive and don’t believe I’ve had it.

I chose "moderately cautious and have never had it".... Although in the beginning I was extremely cautious. I didn't go anywhere, and even after things opened up slightly I wore a mask everywhere and stayed away from people. My mother was still alive at that time and even though she was fully vaccinated I was still afraid of taking it to her. I've relaxed a bit since she's died. I had stopped wearing a mask anywhere, even at school once the requirement was lifted. I did wear one on the subway a few weeks ago because it was the first time I'd been on the metro since covid, and there were a lot of people. Although honestly, I'm considering wearing one at school again with all the sickness going around. Covid is on the upswing, plus flu and all sorts of other illnesses. I feel like I'm living on borrowed time. I am fully vaccinated -- five doses? the two original plus three boosters? I've lost track, lol -- plus a double flu vaccine.

I've only had it once (February 2021) and have been somewhere between "not very" and "mildly" cautious. I pretty much did the minimum necessary, which is to say that if a place required a mask I wore one, but if they didn't I did not. I took my time getting vaccinated because I wasn't as fearful as others so I let others go first. I did get one booster, but I have no plans to get more.

I wasn't sure how to answer. From March 2020 until early this year I was moderately cautious and never had it. Since this year, I'm not very cautious and have never had it. I also worked in a very high risk business (casino). I was able to get vaccinated in March 2021 and have also had one booster.
I'm also someone who has gotten an annual flu shot for the last 40 years. I'm not someone who gets sick with anything other than a mild cold, and and those have been few and far between in the past 15 years.
