Well, it's been awhile since I've had one of these ...
DH bought some Reddi-Wip yesterday for a pumpkin pie. It's the spray whipped topping that' says "made with real cream".
He was sweet and bought the BIG can so DD and I could also use it for our "fancy coffee". It was left out of the fridge overnight... BUMMER. The can says, "Refrigerate to maintain safety" It was out about 10 hours or so.
I'm on the fence. With the price of groceries going crazy, would you keep or toss?

Unless the room was very warm all night long, you are fine to use this.
The way that the container is made, the cream will be kept at a cool temperature. Use away and enjoy, but use within the week.
Now, if you lived where it is hot & humid, 90+ degrees, I would toss but not if the room was cooler, less than 70 degrees in a cool climate area.

I would put some on my finger, sniff it, taste it and probably keep it. I live on the edge though.

I’d let my family decide because I don’t like whipped cream under the best circumstances.

I am always so paranoid about things like that. We got a new microwave a couple years ago and it does not have a "soften butter" setting. So I take out butter early in the day to make cookies, and then that night don't feel like making cookies, then throw it out because it would be out too long. I have wasted so much butter with this new microwave, haha! I hate to bake, so I really should have learned by now that I won't make the cookies, so why take out the butter!

We leave a stick of butter out in the counter all the time. If I left butter out to soften and didn’t use it, I would put it back in the fridge.

I would liken the whipped cream to milk or half and half. Would you use those if they had been left out for that length of time? I would not.
As for butter, softened butter (real butter) can be left out for days/weeks with no issues

Get yourself a butterdish, we keep our butter in such a dish on the counter all year round. No issues except when we had a heatwave last summer and the butter got too soft.

Butter does not have to be refrigerated. It will eventually begin to turn rancid, which you can smell and in any case won't kill you and takes a long time to happen. I never refrigerate butter unless it's very hot inside, which is virtually never.

I always keep a stick in the cabinet. (Used to have a cat, so got used to putting it in the cabinet.). Butter can last a long time on the counter.

I grew up in a household that left the butter out in a butter dish all the time. The dish held 2 cubes at a time so the other two went into the refrigerator and the two that were in the dish remained until the dish was empty and ready to be washed. No one in my house ever got sick from room-temperature butter. I do vaguely remember Mom putting it into the refrigerator during really hot days of summer so that it didn't melt, but that was the only time.

I like how we are all worried about wasted butter. I actually put it back in the fridge and have never had an issue. I know people leave butter on the counter but it’s hard to change old habits.
I world also keep using that can of whip cream. The only time I’ve ever thrown out a can is when I opened it and the spray spout had mold all over it.

Yes, you are wasting a lot of money, especially considering how expensive butter has gotten. As for the OP -- yes, I'd eat the whipped cream, unless (as someone said) your house was really hot overnight. Ours gets down to 60 degrees at night and for whipped cream in a can that wouldn't worry me at all.

Get a butter bell. Cheap and awesome. Only hitch is extreme hot weather. If that can was at my house, I would eat it, my kitchen is always too cool. We're in the NE, so not an issue here.

I would use the whipped cream as long it looks/smells/tastes fine. Which I’d assume it would in those circumstances, 99% of the time. I am always so paranoid about things like that. I know everyone has already said it, but just adding my voice … butter doesn’t need to be refrigerated. Mine is out on the counter in a covered dish year-round, sometimes for weeks. I’ve never had it go bad. Please stop throwing away butter!

Well, I wouldn't eat that canned fake cream to start with but if I *did* eat it, then I would have no problem eating it after it's been left out overnight (as long as it wasn't a hot night).

I had no idea you could leave butter out! That's good to know. I can't stand to cook or bake so I am no expert in the kitchen. But I am quite the germaphobe and am always worrying about food poisoning. Thanks for the information. I won't be wasting butter anymore or begging for a new microwave!

Me neither! This one is made with real cream and is more expensive so that's why I was so reluctant to throw it out! ;-)

But I am quite the germaphobe and am always worrying about food poisoning. Thanks for the information. I won't be wasting butter anymore or begging for a new microwave! Especially if the butter is salted, it could sit out on the counter for weeks and it won’t go bad provided it’s not really hot inside. We always leave a stick of butter out on the counter because it sucks trying to butter your toast with cold butter! Unsalted butter will eventually get rancid faster than salted but as others have noted it will take a while. Definitely not overnight or even over a week. Butter is WAY too expensive right now to toss it after leaving it sitting out for one night!

I would use the Reddi Whip without hesitation. It’s essentially canned, with the only opening a small pinhole where the squirty cream comes out. Really, it’s fine.

I’d eat it. It probably has a lot of sugar in it which helps preserve food.

Nope, I wouldn’t eat it. But I admit I’m weird about stuff like that. Anything that could potentially make me sick and vomit, I wouldn’t take the chance. My answer is almost always no when the peas ask this question.

I’d probably taste test it then yes eat it if it didn’t seem bad. (Well actually I’d ask one of the kids to smell/taste because my sense of taste and smell are still off from stupid Covid).
As far as the butter, I tend to get butter out to soften, and then give up at the end of the day and put back in the fridge. Repeat for a day or two (or three). It’s a running joke now that the secret ingredient in my butter cookies is the softened/hardened/resoftened for days butter lol.
