Does anyone here drink chicory? I have questions
Do you have a tried & true method? Do you buy it or roast & grind your own?
While I already drink decaf tea, my Dr suggested chicory but the one I bought is darn bitter I simmered it like the recipe on the bag & it was awful. It did taste ok with agave & vanilla coffee creamer added but I’m sure adding sugar will be adverse to the benefits the Dr was suggesting it for.
I’m going to try to cold brew it in coconut water like I do coffee in the summer but if that doesn’t work it’s going to be a pass from me. Sorry doc, I’ll stick to my teas.

The coffee I drink daily has chicory in it, but I've never had it solo. I don't find it bitter, but then I've been drinking it for 40+ years so if it is I'm just used to it. I'm curious why the doctor recommended it?

I'm curious why the doctor recommended it? I’m not sure, I think she thinks it’s better than tea and I drink quite a bit of ‘tea’ though not all if it is tea tea some if it is herbal. For instance, in the summer for electrolytes I often drink Olive & bay leaf tea with a tiny pinch of salt. But I’m so far not on board with this chicory at all.

All I know about chicory is what I heard from my parents. During the tough post WW2 era it was mixed into the coffee because it was cheaper or more readily available than coffee. Nobody drank it because they loved it!
