I have really enjoyed watching Alaska Daily and episode 6 was a real cliffhanger. (no spoilers posted by me) I didn't realize there was only going to be 6 episodes to the season though. I kept checking back to see if episode 7 had posted yet. Finally I decided to Google to see when it was expected to show up. It isn't! It hasn't been cancelled, they have already gone into winter break. That first season was only intended to have 6 episodes.
The good news is it has been approved for a second season! It will begin Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023. So if you were like me, anxious to see what happens, you are going to have a much longer wait than you anticipated.
I have become spoiled with the ability to binge watch the majority of shows online. It was annoying to have to wait a week for each episode of Alaska Daily to air, but I enjoyed it enough to keep coming back for it. I'm tempted to just let several episodes air before returning so that I can just binge watch a few.

We recently watched it and thought it was great. Such great stories, and I really loved the ensemble work of the cast. The first six episodes are the first half of the season, and the February restart will be the second half of the season. Did you know it is loosely based on a series of investigative articles by the Anchorage Daily News about how violence and sexual assault against Indigenous women was not being investigated?

I am LOVING that show! As a Native American woman (not Alaskan, though), I am grateful that these stories are shared. Crimes against Native American women are so often under investigated or not investigated at all.

I didn't know it was based on real articles from the Anchorage Daily News, but I did know there is a major issue with Indigenous women disappearing and not much being done about it. And not just in Alaska, but all over. I'm hoping this show sheds some light on the issue and gets people outraged and caring about the missing women.

We watched it. Hilary Swank is such a terrific actor and so is the ensemble cast supporting her. Have you ever seen Wind River? Watch this movie while waiting for the second season of Alaska Daily to drop. It blew me away when we saw it at the movies maybe, four or five years ago. There is even a PSA at the end that speaks to the plight of indigenous women in Northern areas (Alaska, Wyoming, Canada) who disappear and often turn up dead, and their families cannot get assistance or justice from local authorities. I think the woman in the film is on the tv show Yellowstone now, not positive it's her. In any case, it's a well-cast movie.

It's not really considered a 2nd season. All the Thursday ABC shows take a long winter break and pick up the season in February each year.
I am enjoying the show. I wasn't sure after the pilot which I can't explain without giving away the story. But the 2nd episode was actually better than the first. They are doing a good job of spreading out the stories so all the supporting characters are getting airtime. I'm learning a lot about Alaska also.

I watched two episodes but have the rest waiting. I don’t seem to have much tv time. I still haven’t watched a million little things or the rest of this is us!

I have had the last 15 episodes in my DVR most if the year. I just started watching them today. I'm loving Alaska Daily. It's a great show.

Lifelong Alaska girl here, born and raised and I love this show. It’s surprisingly “fairly” accurate (although trite at times) and it’s quite engaging. It’s fun to see so many familiar spots. I was a teacher in a few villages and the issues/struggles are shown and are (mostly) respectfully depicted. A few stereotypes exist of course. Like you I’ve been waiting for the next episode! This is the only show we watch weekly and I don’t like waiting lol. I’m glad it has another season as the story must go on!
