Okay - it's Beard Poll time! I just saw a picture of David Letterman and I just can't with him. I can really love a nice closely-shaved beard and scruff is just too gorgeous (at least to look at). I can even love a beautiful Santa beard that looks kempt, but Letterman's look is not my cup of tea. It looks like things are growing in there. However, that doesn't mean that others don't like or love that look, so this poll is just to see if it is only I who doesn't like those full beards or if it is more universal.
FWIW, if I were a man, I get the not shaving thing.
I did not add an other, because this a general question. I get that maybe a super sexy guy could wear a beard or not and even if you hated beards, you'd love it, or if you usually like beards some dude wears one and you just say no.

1 and 2. I generally do not like beards, but occasionally like a little scruff.
We call the long, unkempt beards "feces beards".

Well, I think there's a fine line between full beard and Burt's Bees, and it really depends on the man. I don't mind a full beard at all but the unkempt look is never hot.

I love my husband with a beard. What I don’t like is when it looks like a man is unkempt and too lazy to shave. The length differs on different men but I know it when I see it.

I don’t like big hillbilly Duck Dynasty beards. I don’t like scraggly or unkempt.
But I do think most men, especially as they age, look better with facial hair. Stubble or a nicely kept close shaven beard.
I hate it when DH has to shave his beard off (he shaves for trips that involve scuba or snorkeling as he just can’t get a good seal with a beard).

I prefer a clean-shaven look but I can appreciate how a 5 o'clock shadow or even a nicely kept closely shaven beard looks. Full beard is fine for Santa
That said - just as DH doesn't tell me how to wear my hair or comment on how frequently I do or don't shave - I feel his facial hair is his to decide about and keep my opinons to myself.

I prefer clean shaven and some scruff can be hot on the right guy.
Beards are a turn off for me. Wild, scraggly, unkempt beards are disgusting.
I hate to say it but my oldest has an unkempt scraggly beard and I want to comb it and trim it every time I see him. It makes him look so bad. But he won't listen to me.

I will admit though, I would rather a shorter kept beard. It seems my guy grows his out a little more this time of the year. He has a mustache & goatee (so smooth cheeks lol). What bugs me is when he sits and plays with it while watching tv or scrolling online. LOL

My husband has a beard and prefer it when he keeps it short and well kept.

I don’t like them at all for DH. But just to look at? For me, I think some men look amazing with scruff or a well kept short beard.

I really am not a fan of beards. Anything that close to your mouth catches stuff in it.
That being said, I really don't care what other people choose to do.

Dh has a well-kept beard which I love.. Ds has a well-kept beard until he doesn’t…then it’s way too long and I dislike it intensely. Santa’s is the only long beard that I like!

I love a bit of scruff.
What I don’t like is the wild and wooly beard that DSO grew in The Year of No Shaving, AKA The Yeard.

I don't like facial hair. I definitely am not out there telling people what to do, and my opinion doesn't really matter, but I don't care for it, personally.

I generally prefer a clean shave, but scruff or a close-cropped beard can be attractive in the right situation. I am not a fan of hipster beards at all, but I have no jurisdiction over another person's face - they can do as they like best!

I like scruff on some men. But for my personal guys, DH has a nice silver goatee. He sometimes ventures to a full beard. But also close and kept. ODS has a full beard. Kept (usually). Without it, he looks like a baby. YDS is in the Navy. So he only does the porn stache. His leaves aren't usually long enough to grow any kind of beard. But when he does have leave, he does not shave.

I like scruff and a nicely trimmed beard. Those long untrimmed, wish-I was-a-mountain-man beards are just gross.

Any facial hair that is groomed is fine with me. A tangly nest is beyond gross.

I prefer clean shaven, but will readily acknowledge that some men look great with scruff or a short beard. I have yet to see someone with a beard longer than what, an inch? That I think looks good. I'm sorry, but almost all beard hair grows into a pube-y texture with any real length to it, and I just don't find that appealing in the slightest. I know there are men who grow them out and take great care with them, but to me, they are just kind of gross looking.
I know I'm not God's gift to men, either, so I'm not pointing fingers. Just answering the poll!

I like what I call a normal standard shaped mustache, beard or goatee. Not super close but not long. Probably no more than 1/2inch to 1inch in length. Must be trimmed, groomed, shampooed & conditioned for cleanliness and softness.
I do not like the ZZ Top or mountain man look. I do not like any not standard looks. No partial(mid-cheek) beard, no 1/2inch line only around jaw, no 1/2inch spot of hair on chin with no other facial hair, no not standard mustache shapes.

I'd never kissed anyone with a beard with the exception of a blind date and it was a quick good night/bye one. I like the way it looks on some, not everyone. In 2018 DH decided to grow a beard to be Santa and it took a bit for me to get used to it. Some of our friend's kids think he's Santa and he enjoys it. He was thinking of shaving it off, but I told him if he did, he'd have to do it after the holidays!

I like most facial hair, except some silly little moustaches; but beards? Yep, I like them.
A couple of questions for those who don’t like them or don’t like big full beards…….
If you see someone with a very curly frizzy head of hair, does it make you wish they would comb it? What if it’s hair that is like that naturally? Why should it be any different with a man’s beard?
For those who say a beard catches food crumbs because it’s so close to the mouth - do you usually have food crumbs around your mouth when you eat? Why should it be any different for a man with a beard?
For people who say it looks as though they are too lazy to shave - do you, or would you, shave your legs and armpits every day?

I prefer a beard on most men, but a well trimmed shorter one. DS occasionally grows his out more than I, ( and more importantly his wife) prefer.
But I’m entirely in favor of men taking back their right to have facial hair, after Gillette and anti “commie” or “hippies” propaganda held the US in particular in such trap.

My personal preference is for clean shaven and short hair on men. Some guys can pull off some scruff or very closely shaved facial hair. I’m not a fan of any length at all.
I have a special abhorrence for those full mustaches in weird shapes. They are just comical to me.

I don't really like them--especially on guys that I've seen before without beards-like famous guys. And yes, David Letterman is one of them. I read that he did it so that he would not be recognized. He looks really scruffy with one but he doesn't have to "impress" anyone. But mostly I think they look bad on formerly "cute" guys--like Jimmy Fallon and John Stamos( I think their beards really look bad). And way back Paul McCartney had one.

Yes, I shave my legs, armpits, and elsewhere every day. When I see frizzy curly hair, I wish they would learn to take care of it properly (which would be making sure it’s moisturized and trimmed as needed, not combing it). No, I don’t get crumbs around my mouth because there’s nothing there to catch them, so they fall down onto my shirt or the table.

Some guts look better with beards than without. But, I do not like them at all, regardless of how much better they might make a guy look.
