i noticed the slow pace too. i also looked at the poll about our current ages. our board is definitely skewing older these days but hopefully that doesn't prevent people from engaging.

I donāt start many threads. I think we should all (myself included) try to start more threads instead of just browsing and responding.
This reminds me of a committee I belong to in my development. Many of the members sit there waiting for someone else to suggest ideas and to organize them; then they show up to help. Itās annoying, and I feel like theyāre being lazy thinkers.
Iām going to try to start posting threads regularly. I hope I wonāt be alone in doing that.

I do read and try to respond to a variety of topics because I always seem to find something of interest in most threads. What I find is that within a thread something comes up and topics are added or change, or prompt other comments ( I find I do this a lot) which a lot of people donāt like/complain aboutā¦stay on topicā¦but I find that is hard. A lot of real life conversation is someone says something, that leads to something else, etc, etc.
It is hard to know if you are annoying people and when you should start another thread,or when you can just let things progress naturally and see where it goes. Sometime it feels like you are getting the finger or a fist shaken at you if you are a lane changer or you donāt keep it between the lines in a thread.š
I also feel like people donāt want to read long responses and it hard (for me) to discuss things with just a few word replies. I know my post are always too long so they are skipped, but I am just not a succinct person. š¤·š»āāļøšš

I started one about waxed paper for God's sake (that one turned out pretty good, I was so happy lol) Since I decided to participate in jeremysgirl breastfeeding comment, I'll participate in this one, too. I don't usually have waxed paper around, but I really wanted some yesterday. I made cookies and wanted to seal the tins better. Waxed paper would have been helpful. I know that commentary didn't really enrich anyone's life, but it's one more comment to read, at least.  |

My thing is that I rarely feel like I have anything new or insightful to add, or I'm not sure how to say it. I have a problem with writing in that I tend to try to write the way that I talk. Unfortunately, I use a lot of sarcasm in my speech, and that doesn't always translate well to the written word, and I'm often misinterpreted. I've been thinking the same about all of this! I've consciously tried starting threads of my own, just to get the conversation going, about anything! I started one about waxed paper for God's sake (that one turned out pretty good, I was so happy lol) But yeah, I'll keep trying to do my part. Heck I'm willing to watch the H&M documentary just so I can participate in the threads lol. I'm tired of all the reminiscing of the old days, it's been rehashed so much it's not even funny much anymore. Yes, Altoona PD, yes its Thrusday. Gah. Wow. Thank you for your service! I have a fear that the board will slowly fade away because we don't have a draw to gain new members. At the old site there was the website that brought new people and along with that came a more varied age range and life phase of the posters. Maybe we should post FB ads to bring in some fresh meat |

but god forbid if you don't like someone's trashy outfit. or if you don't admire the Kardashians because they WORK SO HARD! and you have to idolize Kim because she's a lawyer (sure Jan) and that Hammer guy who wants to cannibalize his girlfriend and BBQ her ribs, that's perfectly OK and if you say it's disgusting you're kink shaming. And if the same famous people keep putting new content over and over but you comment on it more than once...you're obsessed. And they have zero sense of humour, posting shit about a famous person doesn't mean I "hate" them, I'm responding to something they did or said or worse...it's not that serious. Those people who actively shut down conversations are the same people who wrote one line answers anyway and have very little of interest to say (except to tell others what not to say), so they should just let the people who want a discussion get on with it. I've been actively fighting back on that point - someone tells me not to post about something...I hit back, I don't actually care if it makes me look like a bitch, I'm not having it. |

It always makes me sad that there seems to be loads of lurkers who might pop in very occasionally when a particular thread speaks to them but otherwise they don't join in. That's such shame - everyone has something to add, and it would be great if a few more shy posters would add to our board more often.Ā This would be me. I may scroll through and read once or twice a day, especially if I see a news story that I expect to see a thread on (I was actually surprised to not see a thread about the sweet little girl Athena, that got hit/kidnapped and killed by the FedEx driver.), but I donāt post much, especially threads, because Iāve had enough hand slaps in my time that itās not worth it to me. |

Same. Unfortunately, there are a few very active peas who are so nasty that drown out the rest. I think it is also a demographic issue. I wanted to ask for advice recently and started and deleted a post a few times because I was afraid of the response from some of these peas.
