An aide to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis used a private email account to help a former client obtain a contract with the state to conduct a controversial program to fly migrants to Democratic states.

Email records released just before Christmas by the governor's office suggest public safety czar Larry Keefe, using the alias "Clarice Starling," wrote some of the language Vertol Systems Company used in its bid proposal to fly migrants from Texas to other states, reported the Miami Herald.

Keefe represented Vertol for years in private practice before taking a job as a U.S. attorney in the Donald Trump administration and then accepting a DeSantis appointment last year as a top adviser whose responsibilities include fighting illegal immigration.

He communicated with Vertol CEO James Montgomery, a longtime friend, using a private Gmail address that showed his name as “Clarice Starling,” the heroine from the thriller "Silence of the Lambs," and including the phrase "Heat 19," which Keefe has said was a call sign given to him in private practice by a former U.S. Air Force Special Operations commander.

Vertol's official proposal to the Florida Department of Transportation included eight paragraphs almost verbatim from Keefe's emails to Montgomery, and the state quickly approved that bid and the first flights started about a week later.

Jamie Raskin announced today that he has treatable cancer.

U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, of Maryland, announced Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

“After several days of tests, I have been diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, which is a serious but curable form of cancer,” Raskin said in a statement Wednesday.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the U.S. and worldwide, according to the Lymphoma Research Foundation. More than 18,000 people are diagnosed with the disease each year.

On his chemotherapy, Raskin said, “I am advised that it also causes hair loss and weight gain (although I am still holding out hope for the kind that causes hair gain and weight loss).”

He has pleaded guilty..

Jason T. Schofield, who was the GOP election commissioner for Rensselaer County, resigned from his position and will plead guilty on Jan. 11.

His guilty plea will mark the second conviction in the federal investigation focusing on the harvesting of absentee ballots in elections since 2020. Schofield reportedly will now be cooperating in the investigation.

It's unclear whether Schofield's cooperation deal will be made public in his plea agreement when it's filed next month," the Times Union's report stated.

"Schofield was arrested in September outside his residence by the FBI on charges detailed in a nine-page indictment accusing him of fraudulently obtaining and filing absentee ballots using the personal information of at least eight voters without their permission."

Harleth was an employee prior to his service as WH Chief Usher.

According to Axios, former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham testified to the Jan. 6 committee that Trump became incensed when he learned that the White House Chief Usher, Timothy Harleth, a former employee of the Trump Organization, went above-and-beyond his responsibilities to communicate with President Joe Biden's transition team to assist with the logistics for the Bidens move into the White House.

It is common knowledge that the outgoing White House administration and staff works with the incoming White House administration and staff to make the transition as easy as possible, in what is expected and supposed to be a political-free process. Trump wanted his administration and staff to blatantly ignore this tradition, especially the employees that he had ties to prior to serving as President

In Grisham's interview, upon learning about Harleth's actions Trump, along with then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, wanted to fire Harleth immediately, no questions asked. According to Grisham, former first lady Melania Trump intervened and demanded her husband not to fire Harleth. Melania had personal interest in the situation, as she had appointed Harleth to the position upon entering the White House in 2017.

According to the New York Times, Harleth was fired three weeks later on Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.

The lack of a Chief Usher meant that when the Bidens arrived to the White House for the first time there was no designated personnel to have the White House doors open, so they arrived to closed set of doors.

Yeah, they're all falling all over themselves, wanting to be the first to "bust" Biden. I'm so glad that they're focusing on that, instead of doing the people's business. Eye roll.
