Here is how history is changed. The right wants to pretend that what happened on 1/6/2021 never happened. We could hope they have already been turned over to NARA and the Senate. Will it all matter if TFG or friends are elected. They could blow up NARA.. If it was just a bunch of tourists and not an insurrection why would they try and hide it? 🤦♀️

If it was just a bunch of tourists and not an insurrection why would they try and hide it? 🤦♀️ My guess is that they're trying to rehabilitate TFG's legacy, hoping he won't go down in the history books as a wanna' be despot. Of course, they're busy working on controlling what history books that already exist say about many things, too. There's a real bent towards authoritarianism in these folks.

Guess the if you aren’t guilty you don’t plead the fifth and if you don’t have anything to hide you then … doesn’t hold true for them.

Not one Democrat should honor any subpoenas issued by the Republicans in Congress. And when the Republicans whine about it remind them that they themselves set this new precedent when they ignored subpoenas.

Jordan et al will cut all funding for DOJ, specifically for SP Jack Smith.
If TFG, or friend, is elected their new AG will jump through their hoops to please.

Like This comment... Kevin McCarthy is the Ted Cruz of the House.. So, were you the least bit surprised by McCarthy's troubles and the troubles he is about to face?" the MSNBC host asked. Oh, hell no, no, no!" Steele shot back as he laughed. "Look, I will tell you, one member of the caucus, summed it up for me perfectly. This was a while ago when he said,'Kevin McCarthy is the Ted Cruz of the House.' So, if you want to know how the members feel about Kevin McCarthy, that's all you need to know." www.rawstory.com/kevin-mccarthy-gop-caucus/#cxrecs_s

Sound advice. But I doubt the power crazy vengeful Republicans in the House will heed.

The fun starts.
On the to do list is cut spending for entitlements. At the same time the Republicans want to make the trump tax cuts permanent.
Here we have a political party that claims they support the blue collar works of American. Yet the very programs a lot of these blue collar workers depend on themselves now or will soon or have family members that currently depend on these programs they want to cut. While at the same time they want to make sure the rich and large corporations continue to pay as little as possible in taxes.

Not so good... Classified documents from Biden’s time as VP discovered in private office, source says By Jamie Gangel, CNN Updated 5:52 PM EST, Mon January 9, 2023 Biden’s lawyers found the government materials in November while closing out a Washington, DC-based office that Biden used as part of his relationship with the University of Pennsylvania, where he was an honorary professor from 2017 to 2019, the source said. Fewer than a dozen classified documents were found at Biden’s office, the source said. It is unclear what the documents pertain to or why they were taken to Biden’s private office. Federal officeholders are required by law to relinquish official documents and classified records when their government service ends. *** The classified materials included some top-secret files with the “sensitive compartmented information” designation, also known as SCI, which is used for highly sensitive information obtained from intelligence sources. After the discovery, Biden’s lawyers immediately contacted the National Archives and Records Administration, which started looking into the matter, the source said. Biden’s team cooperated with NARA, which later came to view the situation as a mistake due to lack of safeguards for documents, the source said.......The news about classified records turning up at Biden’s private office is sure to provide new fodder to Trump, who has already announced his 2024 presidential bid. www.cnn.com/2023/01/09/politics/joe-biden-classified-documents-upenn/index.html

Oops... TFG lawyers drop the ball again. Missed a filing date... Trump deposition could be unsealed after attorneys miss crucial deadlineTravis Gettys January 09, 2023 U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan issued an order Monday in the lawsuit filed by advice columnist E. Jean Carroll against the former president, and she had filed excerpts from depositions given by each of them to support her request to speed up evidence-gathering in the case, reported Bloomberg. Carroll had submitted Trump's testimony under seal, but the judge said he failed to respond within three days, as required, to explain why the 34-page excerpt should not be released. Trump's attorneys, including Alina Habba, responded afterward with a letter saying they hadn't realized they were required to respond within three days and asked for a three-day extension to file their response.www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-and-e-jean-carroll/

The lengths the Republicans will will go to stop any sort of investigation into their actions is amazing.
Remember this is what the voters wanted when they chose to vote for Republicans in Congress. I mean the Republicans were honest about what they were going to do if they got the majority.

And Habba isn't done... Trump attorney Alina Habba in 'judge's sights' after outbursts in courtroomTom Boggioni January 09, 2023 Buried in a report on the troubles attorneys for Donald Trump are running into as judges slap aside their arguments in a series of blistering rulings, is a mention that one of the former president's lawyers in particular is on thin ice with both the judges she appears before and her colleagues on Trump's legal team.*** With the Daily Beast's Jose Pagliery reporting that delaying tactics employed by Trump's lawyers are being shot down as "frivolous" at best, the Beast correspondent noted that attorney Alina Habba appears the closest to being sanctioned -- not only over her time-wasting motions -- but also over her demeanor in the courtroom. That combativeness may end up costing her in the long run with Justice Arthur F. Engoron. "On Wednesday, he cautioned Trump’s lawyers to stop putting forth the same rejected arguments in an email that warned he was 'considering imposing sanctions for frivolous litigation,'" the report states before noting, "Habba in particular has found herself in this judge’s sights, after repeatedly trading barbs with him in court in a manner rarely seen in the profession—frequently interrupting him on the bench, accusing him of unfairly siding against the former president, and making snide remarks about his law clerk."Pagliery added, "It’s gotten so heated at times that her own colleagues on Trump’s legal team have quietly criticized her for putting on a show better fitted for nighttime cable news programs than the courtroom. (She has since become one of Trump’s attack dogs on right-wing TV channels like Newsmax and One America News Network.)" www.rawstory.com/alina-habba-2659088149/

Tough job being President . Pressure mounts on Biden over Bolsonaro's Florida stay after Brasilia riotsReuters January 09, 2023 By Gabriel Stargardter RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) -The United States has a Jair Bolsonaro problem. *** After watching supporters of former U.S. leader Donald Trump storm the U.S. Capitol two years ago, Democratic President Joe Biden is now facing mounting pressure to remove Bolsonaro from his self-imposed exile in suburban Orlando. The White House said on Monday it had yet to receive any requests from the Brazilian government regarding Bolsonaro's status, but the former Brazilian president's presence on U.S. soil has put Biden in a corner, with few good options. By letting him stay, Biden invites criticism that the United States is harboring a man accused by his successor of fomenting anti-democratic violence. But forcing out the former president of an allied state who entered the country in good faith with a top-tier visa poses awkward questions about due process. "Bolsonaro should not be in Florida," U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro, a Democratic lawmaker in Congress, said on CNN on Sunday. "The United States should not be a refuge for this authoritarian who has inspired domestic terrorism in Brazil. He should be sent back to Brazil." Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, another Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, echoed those views. "The US must cease granting refuge to Bolsonaro in Florida," she tweeted on Sunday. *** Three U.S. sources said Bolsonaro had almost certainly entered on an A-1 visa, which are reserved for heads of state, diplomats and other government officials. Normally the A-1 is canceled after the recipient leaves office. But with Bolsonaro having left Brazil before his term ended, they suspected his A-1 was still active. www.rawstory.com/pressure-mounts-on-biden-over-bolsonaro-s-florida-stay-after-brasilia-riots/

I wonder what that bill is that will cost $114 billion? "I would remind my friend that the first bill you’re doing is gonna add $114 billion to the deficit," said McGovern. "Enough.” McGovern is referring to a new Congressional Budget Office report finding that canceling the funding to restaff the IRS would save about $71 billion — but also reduce tax revenues by $186 billion due to reduced enforcement, for a deficit increase of $114 billion. The IRS restaffing, which Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has directly pledged will not be used for audits on people making less than $400,000 a year, was passed as part of the Inflation Reduction Act — the broad package of energy, climate, and health care reforms passed via reconciliation last year. www.rawstory.com/mike-duncan/
