Please share some of the scrappy--or otherwise--tricks you play when wrapping or presenting holiday gifts.
When I was a child, my older brother was always annoyingly proud of how he could always guess his gifts before unwrapping them. One year, I wrapped his gift with rocks and jingle bells in the box and open egg cartons all around the outside. No accurate guesses THAT year!
Last year, our gift wrapping dynamo dgs had enormous fun wrapping boxes inside boxes for his grampa. And more fun watching Grampa unwrap each box to find only another box inside it. It was a huge box. I think there was a box of dh's favourite chocolates at the centre.
This year dh wants to give his nephew money towards a pricey tool he wants. I printed a pic of the tool on cs, then cut it up with my Cuttlebug jigsaw puzzle die. I backed the negative space in the cs with acetate and attached three of the nine puzzle pieces. On the back is an envelope with the cash and a note that is is to cover the pieces already attached, and a little ziplock bag with the rest of the pieces and a note that he will have to find a way to fill in the puzzle himself.
Again, any fun ways to make the unwrapping of a gift particularly fun?

DS was saving for new tires for his car so DH and I decided to get them for him. I bought a set of toy car wheels and used glue dots to attach them to each corner of the card. When he opened the box he had that WTH look on his face until he turned it over and saw where the gift card was from.

My son always guessed correctly. I never do anything with gift wrapping to make it interesting or fun.
I'm visiting my mom and she is busy wrapping gifts. She is slipping a bit as she will be 88 in 2 weeks and has some memory issues. Her efforts at wrapping look like a little kid did it but she is all happy that she is getting it done. It's almost like these are the most beautiful packages she ever wrapped. I'm sad and happy equally that I have her to even wrap gifts at all but time is rushing by and taking parts of loved ones with it.

I always wrap gift cards with a small gift. One year I didn't have anything, so I wrapped the gift card with a 2 pound box of spaghetti noodles. DD could not figure out what the gift was before opening!

So lovely that she is still enjoying Christmas wrapping, and not frustrated because the results are not like the ones she could have achieved in the past. Time is indeed a thief. That is why we scrapbook to nail down at least parts of what is important to us. Can you get a photo of her Christmas Joy without disrupting the process?

DD could not figure out what the gift was before opening! I always do this too. This year I got two Walmart gift cards with enough on them for my sons to each get a fishing license with it. I decided to add a bag of fish bait to each one so that it matched the gift card this year.

One year my parents did a swap. My siblings and I were color coded and my parents knew which color belonged to who.
So my gifts had tags for my brother or sister. So Christmas morning was fun!
I have sent my nephew on a scavenger hunt for his gift. It was money so it was hidden in the tree.

I've done the pop top cans where you open the can from the bottom using a safety opener, empty the contents and remove the label. Use your scrapping supplies to create a new can wrap, place a small gift, , money or GC inside and use crazy glue to reattach the bottom. The recipient uses the pull tab to open the gift.
