I recently got rid of my old Cuttlebug (it actually broke!) and replaced it with a shiny new Spellbinder's Platinum 6. My CB plates and mats were all in pretty decent condition. There is no point in me keeping all of them right? Or is there......

Personally I never give up a potentially useful consumable - who knows, maybe you'll come across a second-hand Cuttlebug missing its plates in the future? Depends on how much space you have for storage, too.

Cutting plates could be repurposed as stamping blocks for large background stamps (or an entire sheet of stamps at once), palettes to mix paints/pastes, non-disposable vehicles for the packaging/kissing technique, mini book covers (if you drill at least one hole for a ring/ribbon), etc. Also, consider donating or selling them locally or on the For Sale or Trade sub-board here. Happy crafting with your new machine!

Of course you should keep them and use them, that's why we have shims.

I would keep them or sell them for way too much money because people will pay a lot for those plates, even used. I'm one of those people. ETA: I don't need plates now, I paid way too much for them last year.

Maybe list them for sale on etsy or ebay and send them along to someone else who can use them?

They are about the same thickness as Big Shot/Big Kick plates, as well as Gemini plates. If you are buying a different die cutter, the plates may work for the new cutter.
Keep your Cuttlebug plates till you know whether or not they can be used in a new die cut machine.

My old, well used Cuttlebug plates work perfectly in my Vagabond. Keep ‘em and try them in your new cutting machine.

I use my cuttlebug plates in my large Gemini! They are the perfect width when I want to do smaller dies and don’t want to use my bigger plates😊
