I am not afraid of germs so I will eat anything that has been cooked. The only things that I will pass on are raw salads etc that someone who has a cat makes. Too many times I have seen cats jump up on kitchen counters and their owners do nothing but put them down.

I’m glad you survived! Last week we had a student bring (and offer leftovers to the office) homemade cupcakes. Now normally I would have been ok with it from this family but I knew the two babies were home with one virus while we sent the older two home with a stomach bug not 2 days prior to homemade-cupcake-day. Soooo I passed on that one.
In general what doesn’t kill ya, makes ya stronger right? 🤷🏻♀️ Oh wait, I did toss the cookie that the kid insisted and handing me with his bare hands right below his very runny nose….so I guess inhale my limits

It is saltines, butter, brown sugar, and milk chocolate chips, so if Saladas are like Saltines, you are golden! Saltines are also called soda crackers. I always thought the soda in the crackers are what made them foam up and “float” when they go in the oven. Not sure that is correct but I have heard that. If Saladas have soda they should work. I think any cracker would float in a sea of butter and brown sugar!

I’ve never tried these, but I’ve had something similar made with graham crackers and it is to die for. Need to find that recipe.
And yeah, I’ll pretty much eat anything from anywhere. The best tamales I ever had came from some guy selling them out of the trunk of his car in our work parking lot. He never came back again, and I’ve always been a little sad about that.
Still here to tell the tale.

We Maude Christmas crack last night but are patiently waiting until we can get to grandmas to eat it. Unfortunately the weather is not helpful.

Usually, I have to know the person and have been to their house before I’m going to eat food from them. But in that case, I would’ve risked it!
The recipe sounds delicious though so now I have to make it!

For most of my life I didn't give pot luck meals a second thought..... and then...........
(warning, disgusting information follows) . .
. . . . . .
A teacher brought her dish into the lounge, plugged in the heating element for her crock pot, and about 50 roaches ran out -----and the teachers ran out. I never participated in pot luck meals again. (shudder)

I taught preschool. One mom brought in cookies or cake and then said, “we’ve been sick all week but wanted to bring this gift in.” Would you eat it? It went into the trash at home.

If Saladas have soda they should work. baking soda is the leavening agent in saltines I'm glad to read all the teachers willing to eat homemade goodies as I bake cranberry bread and pumpkin gingerbread every year for the teachers and bus drivers. I always read here and elsewhere that baked goods get tossed and not to bother but it's tradition now (one that was started because I couldn't afford to buy gifts for all the teachers) and some of DD16's teachers have had both of her older siblings and seem happy to recieve

Christmas crack was made here tonight…. No eggs means no Santa cookies… we improvised.
I got the toffee cooked, poured on and spread out, added the chocolate chips, my DD added sprinkles, I put it on the stovetop to cool. DH commented that it smelled like something was still cooking, I assured him nothing was. Checked a few min later… damn burner was still on and I burned part of it. Grrrrr. It’s outside cooling now. Hopefully we can salvage part and give Santa the burnt area. 🤣

I used to host a holiday party for my prison girlfriends (we fondly called it breastfest), and one year I made little bags of this for everyone. I also attached a poem to the top of the bag:
Here’s a bag of Christmas Crack For a little holiday cheer. It’s safe to take this into work; Unlike drugs or beer.
I share this crack with you today To wish you all the best. So know that if you eat this treat, You will still pass your pee test!
