I shoveled my driveway the other day, it is now a pane of ice. All the snow clumps on my flower pot are white ice balls. I hope everybody is warm and cosy.

I am visiting my mom 6 hrs from my home. I was supposed to go home today but this big winter storm was forecast and I changed my plans to leave tomorrow early. I didn't even get a chance to take my mom to visit her brother because we were expecting snow and ice.
I mean it is nice sitting here looking at her tree, but I have been here since Tuesday and now even being here longer we couldn't get out and about. I wish we had a bit of snow to look at. But not a lot.

Yes! Won't go out until Christmas Eve church service, hoping it's not canceled. . .

At home, DH getting over covid, me trying to get up the courage to take paxlovid.
Screen door to the deck from the kitchen is frozen so DH went around back and up the 1.5 flights of steps to put out bird seed, meal worms for the bluebirds and peanuts, plus check the water in the bird baths (heater thing keeps water from freezing).
Cozy and snotty and coughy.Listening to Voiceplay.

It is for me, but not due to the cold thankfully. We got most of our grocery shopping done over the last couple of days, and I've got family staying with me through Christmas, so we'll be just hanging out at home today.

Very much so. Our ice is breaking up and melting and the atmospheric river is on its way. I'm near you, Don, so past the worst of it. The ice encasing the snow this morning was pretty amazing.
I hope everyone is able to stay safe as this cold weather moves in.

Yes it sure is a stay at home day! YAY! Although we have the opposite problem where it’s too hot to do very much so we’re all hiding inside flaked out on the couch 😁 Later we go for our annual Christmas Eve party, but that’s after a nap 😴

It was a stay home from work day for me today. But the weather outside was probably in the 60's. I would not want to live where it snows.

Nope! We drove up to my parents house today. It’s not too long of a drive usually, 4.5 hours, but this time we took the 101 and made several detours. The weather was gorgeous here today 😄

We were in a blizzard warning, so had 2 stay at home days. I love it! I had to take my grandson to a hockey game last night. There were at least 10 cars in the ditch. I wish I could stay home today, too. It's still -5 F with a windchill of -30. YUCK.

It was so windy yesterday which made Michigan bitter cold. We didn't have as much snow as they forecasted yesterday. I stayed home going from one pair of pajamas to the shower to another pair of pajamas. Lol! I finished my Christmas quilt.
This morning it is back snowing again and even though the temperature is currently 5 degrees, it feels much warmer without that nasty wind. I think snow kind of insulates everything too. I have to go celebrate at my mom's today. She only lives a ten minute drive away. But I'm hoping they don't get the roads plowed before I go. Believe it or not, my SUV in 4 wheel drive handles snow pretty well. It's far better than having an icy layer on top of the street. The snow actually gives you some traction when you have 4 wheel drive. At least as long as it isn't too deep.

He said the roads are so bad that he's not going to get his kids to celebrate Christmas eve with us. They live about 45 minutes away. My mom was going to go pick up my nephew who lives even further and he wanted to stop her from trying. Well my nephew apparently has COVID so bad he's on his way to the hospital. Our roads are really shitty.

Yes.
Here in southern New England, weather was an absolute deluge of rain, followed by the deep (for us) freeze. Luckily, enough time elapsed between the two that the roads were dryish and are therefore not the sheet of ice we feared.
My last work day of the week was Tuesday. Wednesday I drove to New Hampshire to get my mom from the airport. Thursday I drove to Connecticut with my mom to make a Christmas visit to my younger brother. Yesterday, I drove around town, in the aforementioned deluge, delivering kids to and fro, gathering groceries and wine for the holiday.
Today I am hunkered down at home to wrap presents and make Sunday gravy (even though it's Saturday).

I think you're in the same general vicinity as I am. So glad to see the rain today. Yesterday it looked like a Zamboni machine drove over the entire city. There was no way I was going to try and get around. For those still waiting for your weather to pass, sending warm winter wishes to you all!

Nah, in WI -12 still isn’t keeping us home. No such thing as too cold just improper clothing 🤷🏼♀️ We had tickets to see a play of A Christmas Carol and it was fantastic.

I’m so sorry to hear about your nephew, jeremysgirl. I hope he recovers quickly. It’s very cold here, so we’re hoping we prepped enough to keep our pipes from freezing. However, we have had no snow, other than a few flurries that didn’t stick. Our DD was already here, but our son-in-law flew in this morning, although he arrived later than expected because his flight was delayed. We all went to DS2’s home to watch “Spirited” and will be seeing them again tomorrow. We’re far enough south that the snowstorms missed us, thankfully, although DS3 and his sweet wife who live in Indiana got snowed in. They are staying with her parents for the time being. They arrived there about 15 minutes before the snow started to fall. They still had power when we talked to them earlier this afternoon.

So sad about the change in your plans, jeremysgirl . Will Jeremy get home himself? Our dd and family arrived yesterday. We left the house to go 3 miles to dh's sister's for supper tonight and now will be home until at least Tuesday. It has been really cold this past week (-40), and it warmed up today to give some relief. Warming up brought snow--about 2 inches since we came home an hour ago.
Stay safe, everyone!

Yes Jeremy got home. He delivers Coca-Cola. So he goes up to an hour and a half away and he's home every night. The weather was bad last night. The roads were in poor condition. We only traveled ten minutes away to my mom's.

Yes, it's wonderful! After driving on icy roads yesterday to have our family Christmas, it really is peaceful to stay at home today. Merry Christmas everyone.

I feel bad complaining about the weather here when so many are having harsh cold weather.
