It seems almost every year for the past 4 or 5 dh and I like to purge items as we put Christmas decor back in their boxes and organize the garage.
So far I have purged a desk chair, Christmas decor, 2 boogie boards, a lazy river tube, a KA mixer ice cream bowl attachment, Milo's items, tennis rackets, clothing, reusable travel coffee cups, hand towels, and other random items from both the garage and inside the house.
Feels good to let unused items go that are taking up space and just sitting that someone else can use.
We are going to go through more items today to see if there is anything else that has just sat for the year.

The new year always makes me want to purge. I need to go through my closets again. I know I moved stuff that I am realizing I do not need.

I plan to go through all the Xmas decorations as they are being put away and purge some of those.
My girls are home and the oldest completely emtied her dresser; I think she probably added some items to my car, where I am collecting things for a trip to the Animal Shelter thrift store.
I think I will also get rid of a lot of my pyrex (no more lids) and buy new (with lids). I need to research first to find the ones with the BEST lids (ones that don't fall apart after a couple of rounds in the dishwasher).
My pantry could also use some attention...

Once school starts. The ice maker in the fridge broke and water leaked in the kitchen and into the basement. It's terrible down there. I'm to the point where I'm throwing it all away if I don't want it in the house.

No, but only because I've spent so much time purging throughout the year. I like big organizing projects and have sadly run out of them in my own home. Of course I am always on the lookout for little things that need attention or just a revamp of sorts LOL.

Have you ever thought of hiring yourself out to help people who have many of those big organizing projects that they can't get started on?

I'm getting ready to dive into our spare room which is also ds's old room. He stays in it when he's here, but the last time that happened was back in the summer. Meanwhile there are boxes in there from my mom's apartment, and all the Christmas bins, and random Costco stuff that needs to be put away, and a pile of stuff I want to put up on Buy Nothing... etc. omg. Today is the day to get that under control.

Not sure how much 'purging' to be done, but I want to go through my craft room again and reorganize--I bought a new machine and sold 3 old ones, so you would think there would be more room in there, but no.It's also the room we pile stuff into, so it gets messy quickly. I also want to reorganize my pantry--another area that stuff gets shoved around in.....

not really because it's an on-going process here. I will keep an eye out for Christmas decor that we no longer need when I pack it up after Epiphany and certainly I always have my eye out for things that can leave. I did a deep clean before Christmas and filled a box with donations then.

I did a major purge of my Christmas decorations last year. This year I am going to go through my decorations yet again and do another smaller purge.

YES! I don't know what it is about the week after Christmas, but I have this wild urge to declutter everything. I worked on my Tupperware and cups/mugs/tumblers/glasses cabinets yesterday (2 cabinets) and filled 3 boxes for donations!

I mentioned in the other thread, this is the week I give the house a good cleaning. That includes purging. SO is working on the garage today. I am tackling the kitchen today. We don’t get all the rooms done, and we do take breaks to do other things, but we at least do the downstairs before we go back to work next week. I told SO it is time to get rid of all the empty boxes in the garage.

we've been doing donations of regular household stuff and clothes almost weekly for the past couple of months. unfortunately, we offset that with buying more holiday decor this year. ugh. it's a horrible cycle.

I got a new sublimation printer and I’m not sure where it’s going to go since it isn’t replacing a different machine. There’s no room for it on my desk unless I totally reorganize a lot of other stuff, and my desk is the one part of my office/studio that is actually somewhat organized right now. I do need to purge a bunch of stuff in my kitchen cabinets, they too are a hot mess. The plastic containers with lids that got warped or lost, the empty Costco sized tubs from cream cheese, cottage cheese or sour cream, the multiple drink shaker bottles that came with energy drink mixes DH subscribed to years ago but never used? Yeah, you all need to just GO.

I hear you on this. The queen sized guest bed is covered 2’ deep with clothing that I pulled out of my closet and DD’s over the past couple months. Some I think I can sell, a lot needs to be donated but the place I prefer to give it to has limited hours for drop off so there it sits. I need to get it in boxes so it’s ready to go.

We repainted and floored upstairs in October and a ton of the kid's (they are College/HS) stuff is in the attic in boxes. We got them to go though a few things and purge, but we really need to get them to start moving through the rest of the stuff and not just put it back where it was. Hoping to get this kicked off this week.
I have been purging a lot in 2022 but I definitely can do more and hope to use some time this week as I set up a small upstairs craft space to go through things as I set up. This is a nice motivating thread to get on it.

I need to. Tomorrow is our family Christmas so nothing until Thursday. I had planned to get rid of a few large Christmas items before Christmas but I never even pulled them out . A large wreath and this trolly thing with skaters on top if I remember correctly. We haven’t used it since we moved. I also didn’t use several other large items this year but not ready to actually purge them yet. I usually do a major clean and purge during this week but it’s not happening this week. I usually do extra laundry to and wash all the extra blankets, towels (decorative in guest bathroom), rugs. Well maybe I will get to them later this week.

Yes. I usually do a go through, during the week between Christmas and New Years Eve. I like to declutter, get rid of unused or unwanted stuff, clothing that I don't intend to wear anymore, wipe out the fridge, file paperwork, etc...
I always put fresh sheets on the bed on New Years Eve Day, because I like starting the New Year with fresh bed linens.
I also go over my finances, to see where I am financially on January 1 and make a plan of where I want to be financially by December 31.

I usually do a deep clean of my crafting area between Christmas and new year's. There will be garbage bags and boxes.
DH is also off this week so I might get him to go through some stuff downstairs and take stuff to Goodwill.

I already started purging my granddaughters' toys. Their toys have taken over my house. The younger one is still using a few toys but on the cusp of leaving behind the youngest toys. So I am boxing them up to donate.
I am also going to fill a few bags with my clothes. I have put on a few pounds since my XS purchases and all of that needs to go. Then there are items I picked up because I needed clothes in my new size and about half of these can go.
So much stuff. I know I won't even make a dent.

I am trying to force myself to rest.
However, I need to eliminate some things in the house garage in order to have somewhere to store the trees. The small one needs to be/should have been donated. Anyway, the logical choice to make room on the shelves in the garage is the large dog crate. My head knows there will be no more large dogs in my life. But, it was my Girl’s crate and I am still missing her like crazy.

I am not, but mainly because I am on vacation and won’t be home until Jan 8th. Starting Jan 9th, purging will happen. There isn’t really a lot, mainly my craft room, as we moved house in July and a lot went out then.

Nothing drastic but I do have a bag of clothes and shoes ready to go to donation. And I've completely cleaned off my desk including all the little cubby holes. It's been ages since I was that thorough. It looks wonderful and makes me happy every time I look at it and actually see the top.

I just took a load to Goodwill this afternoon. After I get everything down in the next day or two, I'll take another load. We are still trying to update some rooms in the house and "out with old" is a theme right now.
Yesterday I cleaned out two closets as well as cleaned the entire upstairs.

I'm going through closets this week. I'm sure the donation places are busy right now, because I think everyone has the same idea around this time of year.

Yes, I am purging things as I take down my Christmas decor. I don't have a ton of 'excess' in my home but there are some areas that can be sifted through and weeded down.
