Keep in mind that degrees and experience are not necessary to hold public office. There are no qualifications other than age and residency. A healthy chunk of the electorate actually thinks that less education and experience are better. Pathological lying is also not disqualifying to those people. Watch for this guy to become a folk hero to the right - the guy who was clever enough to pull one over on the left despite his lack of ... everything. This will be seen as master-level lib owning. They'll elect him again by a landslide. I’m not so sure that’s the case here, though. It’s a heavily-Jewish district in Queens with a history of voting Democratic. He presented himself as Jewish and the grandson of Holocaust survivors. I don’t think these people would likely vote for him, or someone like him, again. Are you saying that people who typically voted Democratic, had done for years, flipped and voted for this guy - whose views some of them must have found repugnant - just because he claimed to be Jewish? |

Maybe … I don’t know. The fact that the DNC seemed to think it was a safe district tells me that might be so. If it was a close race and a few older and/or more conservative Jews saw a good excuse to vote Republican, then maybe so. |
