Im curious about what topics or facts you wish you knew, especially if you are hesitant to ask or admit you don’t know irl. For me, I remember always wondering why undocumented immigrants didn’t come the “normal” way. I wasn’t against immigration or helping people fleeing which made me very scared to ask the people around me. Now I know! But remember the feeling of just wanting to ask a few questions but not align myself with those against immigration.
2) I want to know more about how a car works. What things are called. I usually look for info in books but I haven’t been able to find a BASIC book. I own a car and should know the basics but it’s boring and I don’t want to fit the stereotype of a woman who doesn’t know anything about cars 😆
What do you wish you knew?

I feel like there's not a lot you can't just Google nowadays. I don't need to know everything, I just need to know what I don't know and where to look.

I would like to understand more about economics. But I don’t want to study economics. I just want to already know more about it. 😂

I'd love to know how it felt to live in a country with Universal Health Care.
That, and how to speak another language fluently.

I wish I knew basic fixes for things around the house, how to use tools and which tools to use for which job. I wish I knew how to play the piano and how to invest in the stock market.

YouTube and Google are where it's at In some ways but for complicated issues I think you have to know the basics before evaluating randoms on the internet. I agree with the peas who want to know about the economy. I know lots of folks have very strong opinions about the Fed but I have to tap out after not to long : )

I wish I could speak Spanish. I'm studying it but it's slow going. I'd like to be fluent in Spanish. We were offered French, German and Spanish in high school. I took two years of French and could speak and understand it really well. I have had no occasion to use French since then (half a century ago) but can still muddle through speaking and can understand it when I hear it. Then I married someone who is fluent in Spanish (and English) and I taught myself to read and understand old German script doing genealogy. Either of those languages I would have actually used. In my 40s I took two years of Spanish but I can't speak it much at all. I can read & write Spanish but can't come up with the words fast enough to speak it and people speak too fast for me to understand it. I am in So Cal and Spanish is everywhere. I so wish I could learn it. It is hard to learn language when you get older.

I learned a lot about economics the more interesting way - Podcasts. I like Planet Money and Freakonomics. They talk about the economy as it affects our lives and our behaviours. I didn't know economics could be that interesting.

My husband has an MBA in finance and I guess a good understanding of all that, but his opinions are colored by his political beliefs so I have to take them with a grain of salt. Would take a lot more than some YouTube videos to get up to speed, I think.

Be able to sing and play a musical instrument. I have taken piano and guitar lessons, but with a nonexistent singing voice, just no. I would love to be fluent in Spanish and have taken a few classes.

I wish I knew how to not stress over things.
I wish I knew how to shut my brain off at night to sleep. Falling asleep takes me forever cause I think of the most random crap. Once I’m asleep I stay asleep just fine.

I wish I would have been taught about money, finances, budgeting, saving, credit, etc... as a child and teen. After a lot of trial and error, mistakes, learn as I go. I finally figured it out. Better late, than never.
Nowadays, I wish I had a better understanding of technology. This type of stuff, has never been easy for me.

I wish I knew how to better express myself. It's not just that I need a bigger vocabulary, but how and when to use it.

I wish I knew more about finances, investments, retirement plans, other investment plans like education, overall budgeting and long term planning. I feel like we do a good job year over year and with savings, but I wish I felt more confident in long term education plans for ds and for retirement plans for me. I feel like I went from a poor student to making a salary that’s taxed and no one has really talked about longer term investments or planning. We’re comfortable year to year but what happens when ds starts hs and possibly college? What happens when I want to retire early before age 65? How do I plan for all of that? Besides burying treasure in my backyard from holiday gifts!

Once I’m asleep I stay asleep just fine. I'm just the opposite....I fall asleep immediately, and I can sleep anywhere. But then I often wake up at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. Then my mind starts going over all the random crap (lol). ugh.

I retired 2 years ago, and thankfully I had sound financial advice while working full time.....However navigating all that is not for the faint of heart....so much information to process. You need to find yourself a good financial advisor...Fortunate for me the manager of the Credit Union recommended someone for me who comes to the CR a couple days a month and meets with folks ...She was a lifesaver for me.

I could see learning more about cars when you could actually fix them yourselves. Now it's hook it up to a computer to diagnose it. I'd like to know how to do more home repairs or improvements. Have and use power tools to fix or make things.

Just generally, I’d like to know enough to competently do some home maintenance. I hate having to rely on handymen to get things accomplished.
