Happy New Year, Glue Crew! Hope that so far, 2023 has been good to you. We had a small NYE party in our basement with our dd, her hubby and their nine year old. Got some fun photos of the ping pong and shuffleboard action. Thanks for being our fearless leader, joyfulnana. Looking forward to hearing from you all. I have been scrapping for just over 20 years. Usually scrap 12x12 "traditional" pages, mostly photos of the dgks' routines and adventures. Toying with the idea of using the Q-1 photo prompts to do a smaller album, about DD size to scrap just those prompts... Plans like that scare me, as I start gung ho then lose mojo toward the end, but the year is early, yet.

Happy New Year!!! joyfulnana thanks for heading up the glue crew! I've also been in the paper crafting world for just over 20 years. Primarily, I make 12x12 layouts of vacations, family events, some childhood pictures, etc. I also make cards and sometimes I'll work in a smaller format for gifts. This year, I am going to block out time and just scrapbook more.

How long have you been a paper crafter, and what is your favorite format? I've been a paper crafter for ~20-25 years. Similar to christinec68 , I primarily scrap 12x12, and I scrap vacations/travel, events, outings, some holidays, and other life-happenings. I've done smaller gift albums, usually 8x8. However, I find any size smaller than 12x12 to be too limiting, as I prefer to make multi-photo (3+) LOs. I'm also a stamper and card-maker. I started learning watercolor about 9 months before the pandemic hit, and am trying to improve my skills in watercolor, hand-lettering, and drawing. Are their things you want to do differently in relation to your creating this year? I started back to work full-time again in November, so I hope to develop and foster some habits that afford me more time in my daily life for crafting.
Looking forward to creating with you all this quarter! Thank you for leading us, joyfulnana !

I have been dipping toes into the paper crafting world for longer than I'm willing to admit I've been alive. I think it started with Inkadinkadoo when they were in a pushcart in Faneuil Hall in Boston. I may have still been in college or taking a break from college.
Some years later, I had an idea to stamp and watercolor my wedding invitations. It didn't happen (duh).
I started scrapbooking when my kids were small. They're now going on 18 and 22. Neither of those baby scrapbooks has been completed.
I reentered the hobby this summer with a cardmaking focus. Strangely, I was a really bad card sender when it was a matter of remembering to go to the Hallmark store to purchase cards, but I'm inundating friends and family with homemade ones and loving it!

Happy New Year everyone!
I first started scrapbooking in 1998. I was pregnant with my first child and was looking for traditional baby books to record all of the baby milestones and highlights. My mom filled my baby book with anecdotes, quotes, etc. and I loved reading all about me as a child and wanted to do the same for my kids. I stumbled onto memory keeping when I saw an add in a magazine (Mormon company from Utah, can’t remember the name). I always took lots of photos so thought memory keeping would be a good way to combine photography and stories. I started with a little box that I could pack up and put in my closet each night. I now have a room that is probably in the range of 18x22ish…and it’s full!
The first 10-15 years I would do upwards of 100 pages a year, went to weekend crops and enticed a few friends to join me in this hobby. Life got in the way, and while I still did lots of shopping, my production faded and friends left the hobby.
When the pandemic started I moved supplies upstairs from my basement craft room to help it be more “in my face”. Still a slow scrapper but it got my creative mojo and interest going again. This last year I moved stuff back downstairs, did a major sort and clean up and have invited friends to join me in paper crafting the last few months.
This year I plan to put scrapping on the calendar and continue to invite friends. If I make it a date then I am so much more committed.

I have some questions about some of the challenges. What are "pop dots" and "PL cards"?

I have some questions about some of the challenges. What are "pop dots" and "PL cards"? Pop dots refers to dimensional foam adhesive. PL cards are project life cards. That’s a scrapping system designed by Becky Higgins a while back but now it generally refers to pre-printed cards or sometimes as part of a 12x12 sheet that is cut apart.

I scrapped two days this weekend and got a 2 pager done and a good start on another. I think this is the fastest I've ha a layout finished in a new year. It feels good! It was good to be cropping online again. Hopefully those will become a regular thing again. That's great that you are making progress Shakti . I am not ready to go back to work tomorrow! Happy new year Peas! Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I’m ready to tackle the rest of my 2022 albums, which will mostly consist of weddings, weddings, and more weddings!
How long have you been a paper crafter, and what is your favorite format? - I started scrapping regularly after my own wedding, in 2019. I wanted to document all the fun wedding planning process because I felt that was missing from my traditional wedding album. But I had made a few scrapbooks before that, and my mom was a scrapbooker when I was growing up.
Are there things you want to do differently in relation to your creating this year? — not really. I will continue chugging along!

Hey, Crew! I have been gluing down alot of photos this month, trying to get my Christmas photos all scrapped so I can put the festive scrappy supplies away. Today I need to make a list of the remaining pages I plan to do (not many), and maybe put together some page kits so if I don't get to them this week I can still start sorting and packing this stuff away. Our tree comes down this upcoming weekend: Saturday is Ukrainian New Years'. So that is my target for getting the crafty stuff stowed as well. Confession: I have completed 16 pages and 1 card, but have not as yet counted up any points... Easy Peasy counting makes that--well--easier --but for some reason I am still putting it off. Somehow when I engage the counting side of my brain, the creative side forgets how to operate for awhile. I need to print my own printable list of challenges and start checking them off. Hoping that as the holiday frenzy dies down, you will all feel more relaxed and have time to play with paper...(and glue)...

grammadee, I think it's going to be sooo easy peasy to add points now. I'm not even dreading it a little (right now LOL) I don't have 16 pages to count either I hope everyone is settling into the year and getting into a groove! I've had car trouble since before Christmas that finally all got resolved today. Without that hanging over my head, I'm ready to get some scrapping done!

Speaking of points, questions about scoring: 1) EVERY creation (card) ALL QUARTER gets 1 just for being created, plus size points, plus 1 point per design/sketch for sharing, right? 2) SPECIAL challenges (page 2) have their own rules? 3) I don't see on page 1 the scoring rules for the REGULAR challenges listed on page 2. Are those the WEEKLY/MONTHLY challenge rules on page 1? So "Paid by the Hour" is for EVERY hour all quarter? 4) Under M-3, Card Challenges, Sheetload of Cards challenge there's a line about bonus points for meeting each month's special challenges. Are there special SLoC challenges? Is this somehow text that got separated from its true place and should be up at the top of the page with the three Q1 Special Challenges? 5) Also under M-3, Card Challenges, Twelve Card Challenge, gives 1 point per card plus 20 bonus points for a dozen cards created in a month. Is this 32 points on top of the regular points for each creation? Or is the 1 point per card the same as the 1 point per creation and it's really just saying there's 20 bonus points per dozen? 6) I'm not sure, but I suspect that RECIPES are pretty specific to scrapbooking and less relevant to cardmaking. The idea is that you need to meet ALL of the elements listed in the recipe on the same page or same card to get the point, correct? And one comment: O-13 is a once per month challenge? Hurray! I'm not having much luck entering the "freezer" but this should help me spread out purchases

Speaking of points, questions about scoring: 1) EVERY creation (card) ALL QUARTER gets 1 just for being created, plus size points, plus 1 point per design/sketch for sharing, right? Yes. EVERY creation you make, share, and size gets a points for all of those things. 2) SPECIAL challenges (page 2) have their own rules? The special challenges are challenges that happen only at certain times in the year. In February there is the 28-4-28 - that happens every year in February, so it's listed as special, and it has it's own rules. In September there will be another month long challenges using sketches. There will likely be new photo prompts in the new quarters, which will be listed as special.
3) I don't see on page 1 the scoring rules for the REGULAR challenges listed on page 2. Are those the WEEKLY/MONTHLY challenge rules on page 1? So "Paid by the Hour" is for EVERY hour all quarter? The Regular challenges have the points listed a long with those. So you would earn points according to that challenge, PLUS the points for creating, sharing, etc.. And YES! You earn points for creating, organizing, almost anything related to any kind of crafting - except thinking about it. I wish we could count points for thinking about making LOL. I'm not a card maker, and I looked on the cardmaking board, but I didn't find what the special challenges are. Tagging azcrafty and Eddie-n-Harley here.
1 point per card PLUS 20 more for every dozen. So yeah, 32 points per dozen potentially lol. 6) I'm not sure, but I suspect that RECIPES are pretty specific to scrapbooking and less relevant to cardmaking. The idea is that you need to meet ALL of the elements listed in the recipe on the same page or same card to get the point, correct? I would suspect you are correct here. But as I was reading through the recipes, you could absolutely, create recipes that are geared toward cardmakers and post those in the next Q when the challenges all change. And one comment: O-13 is a once per month challenge? Hurray! I'm not having much luck entering the "freezer" but this should help me spread out purchases I'm doing iffy so far this month lol. Hi Shakti - I love your username btw I think I answered these correctly, but if anyone sees something I missed let us know!

Is this 32 points on top of the regular points for each creation? Or is the 1 point per card the same as the 1 point per creation and it's really just saying there's 20 bonus points per dozen? Sorry. It should read 20 points per dozen cards created. There is no theme posted this month for this challenge, but in the past year we used the same theme as the Donna challenge of that month. So that would be 30 points per dozen cards created with the theme "sunshine songs" for January.6) I'm not sure, but I suspect that RECIPES are pretty specific to scrapbooking and less relevant to cardmaking. I tried to fill the answers in above. Hope they help!

I know I started us out with a couple questions I didn't answer myself lol. I scrap mainly 12x12 but have been really drawn to the smaller formats, yet I get frustrated when it's not my "normal". I think I'm not giving it enough time to decide if I like pockets or not lol. Also buying albums and page protectors in a different format is not what I consider "fun" spending so it's hard to pull the trigger lol. I want to get more done this year, so I'm going to try attending more crops. In person and online here. I don't know that scrapping is making a comeback, but the crops are coming back here to the LSS and there are two big groups that hold no frills crops at other locations. There are at least two next weekend. And I love the online crops here so much! It's been so great putting pea names and faces together and feeling like I am getting to "know" some peas. There will be an online crop later today if anyone is interested in popping in to see what they are all about! Everyone is welcome to work on other crafts, or just chat. I knit sometimes, and worked on a puzzle another. The peas are good company!

grammadee, I do think that towards the bottom of page 1, it says that if you make multiples of cards, you get points for creating each, but only 1 point for sharing one example of the lot. IMO, many sketches and kits yield multiples that may differ slightly, but still count as multiples. Other than that, I think the answers were very helpful. Thank you both! joyfulnana, thanks also for the compliment on my username. I've used it, or variations of it, on internet forums and other social media for years and years. It was feeling somehow out of place here, and I was considering if I should ask about changing it. Perfect timing on your part!

Hi there Gluers! I’ve been able to hop into the online crops the last 2 weekends and I’m happy to report HUGE numbers so far this quarter…3 whole pages lol. That’s big for me.
If you’ve never tried the online crops why not check them out, especially for those of us where the weather is not great for other activities this time of year.
Come as you are, sweats and ponytails, don’t worry about your messy desk…it’s all for fun, getting some scrapping done and making new friends.

And at 20 points per hour for crafting with others, a great way to earn points, too LOL. I need to figure out how to whip my ipad into shape so it will function for these crops again. Its memory is full, so it plays tricks like not activating my camera for the video chats.

Hi glue crew peas! I decided to quit my job so I’ll have more time come February for crafting. I also need to get our house ready to sell, but I think there is room for both!
How long have you been a paper crafter, and what is your favorite format?
I was a stamping card maker from 2007-2014, then started scrapbooking around 2016. My favorite format is 12x12, but really I like creating in any size. I like making mini albums & cards, too.
Are there things you want to do differently in relation to your creating this year?
I really want to do less shopping and more using of things I already own! I have plenty of product to keep me busy for years. So far I’ve not purchased anything in January. I’m trying.

Happy Weekend team! I hope it's the weekend you want it to be. Mine will spent cleaning since I let that go last week in favor of scrapping And then I'll be glued to the NFL playoffs and my knitting needles. I'll start a blanket today, and it's going to be perfect to work on while I watch the games.
