Happy New Year Peas!!! I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday season. Today is a rainy cold day here is sunny Arizona so its a perfect day to stay inside and make some cards. I usually come up with an extra challenge for this sketches, but I'm running out of them. I would really appreciate a little help. If you stop by just leave me a few ideas. Thank you. The video with the downloadable link youtu.be/WakTKVOzaiQProcess video youtu.be/SKTYpOg3i70To collect the extra 10 points this month mix white with gold on your cards. Looking forward to seeing all your creations. Tagging grammadee.

Uncanny! I’ve been inexplicably drawn to mini slimline stuff for days.

I'm back with my version of this sketch. It look much prettier in person than on the pictures. I love to have set of cards on hand for a quick gift. So this is the first for this year. Im planning to make a few more sets with this sketch, it comes together so fast. I did cut my plain cs 8.5x11 in a different direction and a was left with much more usable leftovers, actually I used mine to stamp the Pinkfresh sentiment stamp on it. So no waist . http://instagram.com/p/Cm6ydVIpKtQ

I was not happy with that cutting diagram, either. I started trying to figure out a better optimization, but didn't quite get there.
Your cards are lovely!

I usually cut so I get a mini slimline and a square 4.25" card from a sheet of cardstock with a small leftover piece that I can use for sentiments. But I'm not sure that I'm going to make this Sheetload. I've run out of slimline envelopes and I really need A2 cards for donations. I'll think about an A2 version. I watched Mint Twist Cards video using PL cards, I think a lot of people on this board could use that tip! Your cards are beautiful azcrafty.

Shakti here is the way I cut up my cardstock. Unfortunately you still need 8 for the card bases, but after you have 8 of each pieces( 1.25x3 and 2.25x5.25) you end up with bigger usable leftover pieces.

So azcrafty , it looks like at some point, you'll have enough of the 1.25 x 3 pieces and could rejigger the diagram and get 2 more 2.25 x 5.25 pieces out of each sheet and really have usable chunks left. Thank you! Also, I don't have any mini slimline envelopes -- one of the things I resisted buying at TE's year-end sale. Which is now ended.

If you don't care about them being pretty you can buy #6 3/4 envelopes from office supply stores and apparently walmart and some dollar stores. They're small business envelopes - 3 5/8" x 6 1/2" is the size listed on my box. They're basic envelopes, good enough for donating or for flat designs and the opening is along the long side which I prefer. I'm not a fan of the short side opening ones but that's the style most card companies sell in pretty colors and that most DIY instructions make. This search might take you to some options at Staples - the first 3 that came up in this search are the size I've used. www.staples.com/envelopes+6/directory_envelopes%25206

It works if you needed in a pinch.

I agree, they don’t look as nice, but you can always stamp and color designs on the envelope to coordinate with your card a little better.

I like this design. It seem very versatile. Maybe not the most efficient use of cardstock, but a cute little card you can do anything with. I actually did the magenta one first with scraps. I'll add the embellishments and sentiments closer to valentine Day. Thanks for the Sheetload, azcrafty .

I love that mini-slimline envelope set...and still have that Amazon gift card from work.
I am thinking that if one chose the correct two double-sided patterned papers one could make a set of 8 mixed all-occasion cards that would be a great gift. In theory, with the right papers, some might be a little "girlier" and others less so. Or maybe find papers that are all kind classic and suitable for anyone. Something like that. I gave away a couple sets of notecards this fall and Christmas, but I wonder how many people write notes these days. Sending "occasion" cards -- birthday especially, but get well, sympathy, congratulations as well -- seems like it's a little more timeless. Hallmark is surviving much better than stationers, I think.

Beautiful cards jjpeapea. I love the lemon ones especially. I just purchased some 13x19 cardstock and I can create 5 of them from a single sheet, top folded. It's a 100lb/271msg cardstock but it feels a little bit flimsy to me, but I'm used to creating bases with 110lb so maybe that's why. Its Hammermill so I can always use it for other stuff too.

A friend came over and we did the SLoC together. I made Valentine's/Love cards using some older Doodlebug patterned paper and some Concord & 9th dies. I ended up with 7 because I hated the way one turned out and ditched it. LOL We are going to try and do this together every month. It was a lot of fun. Her cards turned out completely different than mine. Here's a few...I loved her paper choices.

cmpeter lovely and cute valentines! I wanted to make valentines and I just couldn't find any suitable paper in my stash. The vellum scallops, the cut hearts, the cute snail - yours are the whole enchilada. And pass on admiration to your friend. I do love the papers, colors and fresh look of her cards.

Ta-da! My first Sheet Load:
I somehow lost count and ended up with exactly enough white cardstock panels for three more cards; not sure what I'm going to do with them. The mini slimline envelopes someone recommended are now out of stock at Amazon (probably makes sense with this sketch out there for the last three weeks). The sentiments aren't stuck down yet and I didn't decorate the insides or stamp any inside sentiments. I am thinking they'll be a gift set of all-occasion cards. I'm not sure if inside sentiments would end up being more limiting or if not having them would seem incomplete.

Shakti lovely set of cards. Anyone would be happy with them. I'm planning to give my set away too. I usually don't stamp inside messages. You can decorate the inside with the leftover patterned paper if you want. You pp is beautiful too. Thank you for sharing your creation with us and congrats on your first SLoC.

Yes, I'm so in love with that paper pack I bought a second one after the first arrived. It's SU "Symbols of Fortune" -- very Asian/lunar New Year themed. It's on clearance, if you can believe that! I love it and I know my mom will too!

The slimline cards have not been my favorites but after seeing all your beautiful cards I decided to make them this month. I think the thing I don't like about them is that they don't fit into the boxes I make to gift a box of cards. I may have to design a new box. Birthday Butterfly

nylene your card is beautiful. Love that big butterfly it is so perfect! I am repurposing the packaging my Catherine Pooler minis come in. Its the perfect height and I have some room on the side where I can include a pretty pen. I have a few of those , but after that I will have to make my own box too.

Beautiful card nylene! I am generally not a fan of mini-slimilines either, but I also found this one very appealing. I think because of the examples azcrafty posted.

azcrafty - what about using one or more of the alternative ideas from the sheet load download as an extra challenge? Or the color pallet on the Q1 challenge list?
