In the 2023 Goals thread, it looked like a lot of scrapbookers were relatively current with their pages while others - like me - are working on pages and projects from awhile back (like your grown children's school albums). So where are you with your scrapbooking?

I'm about 5 years behind on project life, 4 yours behind on december daily and decades behind on my regular scrapbooking.

It depends how you look at it. I took a giant break from scrapping (like 12+ years) and I am not going to back to do pages from that time. From when I restarted I am current - my PL is up to the week and I’m working on my December daily album.

To me there is no such thing as behind. I don't scrap in chronological order and I scrap whatever I feel like. I just looked in my last pile of layouts I've done and I have photos spanning 25 years. A little of this, a little of that. I would get bored if I had to do them in some kind of order. Some days I feel like scrapping 20 year old baby photos, some days I feel like scrapping something from last week.
I use D-ring albums and I probably have 150 pages that haven't gone in an album yet. I move things around on a whim.

I’m a chronological scrapper. There are some gaps in old albums I’d like to go back and finish this year. I evolved from CM albums to pocket pages to travelers notebooks, and the later years are done. My projects moving forward will revolve around travel, but I have one more empty pocket page album for big family events. After that, who knows? Trying to focus more on art and other creative pursuits.

Trying to focus more on art and other creative pursuits. I'm working on gaps too -- some big, some not as big. I've never scrapped in chronological order -- I've always worked on whatever I was interested in at the time because my crafting time was limited. But I organize completed pages in order, so it's easy to know what I would like to go back and do, time permitting. Right now, my interest is filling in those gaps while creating pages for more current adventures and happenings.

Years and years behind. I organize my albums chronologically, but I don't scrap that way.

It depends for me too. I try to keep current with the current years Project Life, my kids baby books & I always finish my OLW album every year. Beyond that all of my projects are in various states of completion and I have years of old photos, and projects I hope to get to one day. I don't worry about it though.

I am pretty current, but I didn’t set out to do a bunch of backlog years when I starting scrapping regularly. However, if time ever allows, I would like to do albums of my college photos (10 years ago).

I voted other. I scrap what I feel like scrapping in the moment…I don’t put any pressure on myself to make sure I record any particular memory.

I consider myself current. I started scrapbooking when I was pregnant with my oldest. So as far as the kids go, I'm up to date. With that said, my life was chaos in 2009 &2010. I just shoved photos in a premade album on Shutterfly. I probably will never go back to those photos because that was a very bad time in my life. Likewise, 2022 stopped in April and I'm going into 2023 but I doubt I will return to 2022. I've given myself permission not to. So, if that's the definition of current than I am.
With that said, I like the idea of telling stories and I just might tell more older stories from my pre-mom days. And I consider myself in post-mom (kid grown) days now and my books have become so much more about me and our life. However, my first grandchild is due in three weeks. So there will be some scrapbooking about him too.

Back in the day I would stress myself out thinking about how "behind" I was in my scrapbooking but then I remembered it is a fun hobby for me and not a job I need to fulfill and that really helped me not feel the guilt of being "behind". That all being said, I try every year to do project life style pages and make it through to February and never finish a year and I'd really like to complete at least one year of PL so I guess I'm behind there. I have years and years of gaps, trips I want to scrap and my wedding and honeymoon and baby album for my 7 year old but I figure I'll get it done when I feel the motivation to do those major albums.

I only started scrapbooking in 2020 (Project Life with some 12x12 layouts for pictures/events that inspire me). I completed my 2020 PL book, but have 3 months left of 2021 and 6 months of 2022 to go (plus I have unfinished December Daily projects for all three years). We are preparing an out-of-state move, so I had to pack up the vast majority of my supplies back in August to do some work on the house. We've been on the market since November and are still waiting to sell....hopefully it'll go soon so we can move and I can get my supplies back!

I am pretty caught up. I sort of stopped in August 2021 though. I’m trying to decide if I want to keep scrapping. It’s just for me at this point as both my adult children are not interested in physical scrapbooks. I’ve pouring all my crafty mojo into card making.
But, when I flip back thru photos of layouts or my physical albums, I get a lot of joy. So maybe I keep going and do a monthly PL spread to catch up and maintain.

Other
I scrap out of order but album chronologically for the most part. I have years that are complete; years with just a few gaps; and years with months of gaps. I tend to scrap a mix of more current photos and older ones.

I took a giant break from scrapping (like 12+ years) and I am not going to back to do pages from that time. I took a break of about nine years too, then changed to digital. But I will be going back to do pages from that time. So not only do I have to try to stay up to date, I have to re-do all my paper pages, catch up with the in between years, then tackle my childhood / teenage / early adulthood photos. It doesn't stress me out at all, being so far behind. It just means that I have a ton of photos to choose from when I want to scrap, and for all the challenges I do, both here and on other sites.

I scrapbook in chronological order. One or two scrapbooks per year(some years are busier than others). January to December.
Many years behind. I'm not in a hurry, and I don't worry about it. It will get done, when it gets done. I am okay with that.

I chose other because I am years behind some years but others are complete. I'm 65 and have finished scrapping more than half of my life.
My sons now have 30 years of their lives scrapped with the past 2 or 3 years having gaps since I had grandchildren.
Then granddaughters are way behind yet the 4 year old has 20+ albums and the 1 yr old has 3 albums done.
So while I am years behind I actually have much more scrapped than not if that makes sense. It's the sheer number of photos I take now that will keep me from ever getting much done like I used to.
Dec alone I have hundreds of photos to scrap for dgds and my boys.

I don’t count the time before I started seriously scrapping as behind. Anything pre-2012, maybe it will never happen. I am behind currently because I haven’t done any 2022 (I mainly do Project Life). I finished 2021 on 12/26. I’m getting 2022 organized now. I have my pictures printed, my ephemera sorted, my details in my planner and I’m ready to start getting stuff in my album. So, I’m technically behind, but feeling good that I’m going to be able to get this album put together relatively easily because I have all my elements ready.
I’m typically a very slow scrapper, but when I have everything ready it can really push through to get it done. I won’t spend a lot of time trying to be creative and trying new things. It’s going to be more picture and who what where.
One thing I’m excited to do differently is doing categories. My monthly Bookclub details will be in one layout instead of spread throughout the months. Same with work related stuff.

Voted other. I have no thoughts of ever being caught up. Caught up is sad to me. Just waiting for memories to make and record? That doesn’t work for me.
I don’t scrap chronologically. I’m currently working on December Daily from days ago. I have photos from Aug-November of 2022 waiting for PL. A travel album from 2021 that I want to make. And baby photos to scrap from my almost 16 year old twins. I have many many years to work through my memories. I’m not in a hurry and have zero plans to ever be current.
ETA - the only thing I try to stay current on is my kids school albums. I display them at graduation. It took every free moment this past May to complete 6th through 12th for my graduating senior. Never again. 😂

I chose OTHER, since I refuse to worry about being current or caught up. I just scrap what I feel like. That is usually photos from the last few months.
I have worked on my childhood photos and stories off and on.
I don't want my hobby to stress me out.

I'm also an "other". I don't consider whether I'm behind, on schedule or somewhere in between. I don't scrapbook chronologically - I create whatever inspires me in the moment. Sometimes I start with particular photos, sometimes it's a sketch or other 2peas challenge, etc. Layouts are placed into albums that are chronological, though.

Brushing the dust off my account here as I finally get back into scrapping after taking most of 2022 off (had a graduating senior and started a new job)
I need to do 2017-2019, most of 2022 project life. Just added 2017 and 2018 to an album (12x12), need to print a few smaller pictures (4x3) and start adding cards/embellishments. I have a lot of 2019 printed, but I'll find that I'll need to print smaller photos for 2019 as well. Mostly monthly spreads - some bigger than others depending on how many photos I have. 2019 will be a 9x12 album. Going to start 2023 and slowly work on 2022.
For 12x12 layouts and mini albums...a good 6 years behind. I don't scrap chronologically, but I put the layouts in albums that way. I just start projects that I hope will keep me motivated. I have lists of potential layouts and mini albums that I would eventually like to scrap.

Other...I guess? I consider myself to be "years & years behind" because I'm close to 2.5 years behind. BUT...I only say that because I started with my oldest son was 3 months old. For several years I was able to stay 2-6 months behind (one time I was actually caught up and enjoyed it for one retreat because I was able to work on trip albums from before kids and before I started scrapbooking). It has slowly stretched from one year behind, to 2 years behind, etc. I don't care so much about being behind, but I'm starting to forget why I took some of the pictures that I took--I know there's a story, but I've forgotten because of how much time has passed. I also don't care because as my boys get older (both in high school now) the fun stories are fewer and fewer even though I have tons of pictures to do because I take waaaaaaay too many at football & baseball games.
Thankfully I never planned to have all/most of DS's albums out at his graduation party, otherwise I'd be frantically scrambling to catch up! I plan to do some photo displays, include a bunch of photos under clear tablecloths on the tables, and maybe put out his trip album from his German trip last summer (if I ever get it started...and finished).

I tend to stay the most "caught up" with trips (although I did just find pics from a 2006 trip that I am going to scrap this month). I still have lots of baby photos of DS (he is 20) left to scrap as well older pics of me & DH. I don't do Project Life so I don't have to worry about being caught up there. I'm also totally caught up on DS school and graduation albums and his scout albums. I had a hard deadline with those as I wanted to finish the school books by his graduation in 2020 and the scout books for his Eagle Court of Honor in 2018.

Like several others, I picked “other” because I don’t think about being “behind” or caught up. I like to say “catch up” is for french fries, not scrapbooking!
I don’t scrap chronologically, just what I feel like. There are some things I like to do timely, before the details or feelings fade, but I also love spending time with my memories while I scrap the older stuff, like when my son was a little guy. I’m thankful for notes I took in the moment when I have them, but also like to reflect back with my current perspective. Worrying about catching up would just add stress to what is supposed to be a fun, creative, stress-reducing hobby.
That said, I would like to stay relatively current on PL this year, but we’ll see.
