Have any peas bought or received a cool new cookbook?
Which one?
I had my eye on the new Ina Garten cookbook and spotted it at Costco this past weekend. Flipped through it and went eh. So not getting it.
I would love to find one on sides. Need some new side dish ideas!

I just picked up Chrissy Teigen's Cravings cookbook at a used bookstore. I promised myself that I would only buy cookbooks that had AT LEAST 7-8 recipes I will try, and this one fits the bill. They don't look too complicated either. I also ordered Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat by Samin Nosrat. I may allow myself to buy two more in the near future.
A long time ago, I had somewhere around 115-125 cookbooks. I got rid of a lot of them and have managed to own less than 10 for many years, probably only 4 or 5 for the last 4 years. I do have a binder of recipes I've saved, though. I'm challenging myself to cook a lot of new dishes in 2023, so that's my excuse for buying a bunch of new cookbooks - that and the fact that it was my birthday last week!
I also did something big. I started a cookbook club in a local girlfriends club! I just posted the event last night, and our first meeting will be the last Saturday of the month. We will voting for a cookbook, and everyone will pick a recipe to cook and bring to the gathering. Super excited to explore cookbooks this way!

From the library: Ten Dollar Dinners by Melissa d'Arabian. I always liked her show on Food Network and the recipes I tried from the show. I bookmarked half the book, so I should probably buy a copy...

I have Jen Hatmaker's cookbook, Feed These People. So far I have made the roast chicken + gravy and the fried rice. Both were VERY good and Dh especially loved the fried rice.
If you are familiar with her writing style (she's hilarious) she definitely brings it to this cookbook too.

I love Chrissy Teigens cookbooks. Her first one Cravings is the best. All very rich dishes though!

In December I bought Downshiftology by Lisa Bryan. I've been following her for quite awhile on YouTube and Instagram.

I'm done with cookbooks (famous last words!). There is just so much available online, and I end up googling most recipes anyway.

I picked up Preppy Kitchen around Thanksgiving at Costco. I tried about 5 recipes and it's a keeper so far.
I'm trying not to keep buying cookbooks as it's primarily just DH and I and we are creatures of habit, but I love cookbooks. I have started a binder of recipes I print off the internet that we've tried and they're winners, so at some point, that may become our primary recipe source.

I bookmarked half the book, so I should probably buy a copy... I remember her! I really liked her show - Ten Dollar Dinners. I need to check out her book at the library. (Particularly since they recently eliminated any late fees and fines. Ha). I bought my DD The Pioneer Woman’s Super Easy! 120 Shortcut Recipes. I also got her Trisha Yearwood‘s Tricia’s Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family. She works full-time and with my grandson doing travel hockey and high school baseball, they are always on the go and need quick and easy meals. DD seemed happy to get them, but then I found out her mother-in-law got her an Instant Pot for Christmas. So she’d really like to have an Instant Pot cookbook now.

I mentioned on another thread that I got this one: The Defined Dish: Whole30 Endorsed, Healthy and Wholesome Weeknight Recipes
It's not strictly a Whole30 cookbook and most recipes can be modified to fit paleo, grain-free, dairy-free and gluten-free as well. I've made 2 recipes from it so far and loved them.

I wish I had a group of friends who like to cook. I'm jealous of your club. I don't actually even know these ladies yet. I recently joined a local Girlfriends group on FB. The purpose of the group is to make new friends. While I love my close circle of friends that I've known since elementary, middle, and high school days, I made it a goal to expand my circle of friends in 2023. I put out feelers a week ago to see if anyone would be interested in a cookbook club, and quite a few said they would be. I created the event and posted it around 12:30 last night. I woke up this morning and found that I already had 5 people who RSVP'd! Maybe search FB to see if there already is a cookbook club - or a girlfriends club - in your area.

I highly recommend cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen, mainly because, well, they test EVERYTHING.
I have a lot of cooking/baking for one or two cookbooks, as well as one-pot or one-pan meal cookbooks.

My son got me Alton Brown’s latest cookbook for Christmas. We are big Good Eats fans at our house so it’s fun to see some behind the scenes stuff and to cook “with” Alton.

I don't like her recipes enough to own any of her cookbooks, but I always enjoy leafing through the newest one just to see what she's got.

The most popular cookbook here, it seems, is the Recipe Tin Eats book by Nagi Maehashi. She's been on the internet for ages, and this is her first book. I bought it for DD for Christmas, then wished I'd bought one for myself. My stepmum got it as well. My mum loved it too, so we went to the shops on Boxing Day to try and get one for her, but everywhere had sold out.

I got the latest Smitten Kitchen cookbook, Keepers (link here), for Christmas. I'm a big fan of Deb Perelman, the chef behind Smitten Kitchen. I love that her recipes are pretty straightforward and no-nonsense but if there's something that readers/cooks would think is fussy she explains why it's better that way or provides an alternative when possible. I have all of her cookbooks (3 now), and use them regularly.

Would you mind telling me if Flavor recipes use a lot of wheat ingredients? I need to avoid that as well.

My future son-in-law got me Kenji's Food Lab cook book. It's not new but it was really thoughtful and sweet. My daughter's fiance is a home chef and loves Kenji Lopez-Alt. He saw that I put on FB an article about Kenji's love of bagels - because I'm a little obsessed with good bagels - and remembered it and gave it to me. I was really touched. And it's a gorgeous cookbook.
