In December I bought Downshiftology by Lisa Bryan. I've been following her for quite awhile on YouTube and Instagram. I bought this one too! I really like her YouTube channel.

I highly recommend cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen, mainly because, well, they test EVERYTHING. I have a lot of cooking/baking for one or two cookbooks, as well as one-pot or one-pan meal cookbooks. I have their cookie cookbook and it’s fabulous! I’ve made several recipes out of it and they’ve all been great. For Christmas I got the King Arthur The Essential Cookie Companion cookbook. Can’t wait to try out some new recipes but we still have too many treats in the house from the holidays to be whipping up anything else at the moment.

I totally forgot about 10 dollar dinners! My library has them on their e-book site so I got 2 of her books. And I added her show to my watch list on Discovery +

I have the one that spans all 3 shows. I also have a few of their books already. LOVE the one for dutch ovens and braisers.

I had my eye on the new Ina Garten cookbook and spotted it at Costco this past weekend. Flipped through it and went eh. So not getting it. I put a hold on it at my library. I don't like her recipes enough to own any of her cookbooks, but I always enjoy leafing through the newest one just to see what she's got. I have 9 of her cookbooks I really like her cooking style and recipes but was bummed about this new book.

My future son-in-law got me Kenji's Food Lab cook book. It's not new but it was really thoughtful and sweet. My daughter's fiance is a home chef and loves Kenji Lopez-Alt. He saw that I put on FB an article about Kenji's love of bagels - because I'm a little obsessed with good bagels - and remembered it and gave it to me. I was really touched. And it's a gorgeous cookbook. I have 2 of his cookbooks and just love to go through and read them. I have quite a lot of recipes flagged. I also follow him on Youtube.

We eat a WFPB diet. Books i picked up at the Barnes and Noble 50% sale included Plant Based Woman Warrior (Esselstyn), Flavor (forks over knives) and Plenty (Ottolengi and not a wfpb book but lots of amazing veggie recipes) I've been curious about Ottolengi's cookbooks. What is the difficulty level of the recipes in Plenty? I think most of them are pretty easy although some may look daunting if they have lots of ingredients. That said, most of the ingredients are spices/ herbs so not so bad.

Would you mind telling me if Flavor recipes use a lot of wheat ingredients? I need to avoid that as well. Yes and no. I happened to see amazon prime has a digital copy so I borrowed it to check for you 🤣🤣. There are 88 instances of the word "wheat" in 150 recipes but almost all included substitution suggestions as well.

I mentioned on another thread that I got this one: The Defined Dish: Whole30 Endorsed, Healthy and Wholesome Weeknight Recipes It's not strictly a Whole30 cookbook and most recipes can be modified to fit paleo, grain-free, dairy-free and gluten-free as well. I've made 2 recipes from it so far and loved them. Would love to know which 2 recipes you loved! So far I've cooked the Black Pepper Chicken and the Greek Chicken thighs with Lemony Greek Potatoes. I wish I would have doubled the Greek one. My family devoured it!

I got Marion Grassby's Just As Delicious. Haven't made any yet due to injury, but there are plenty of post-it notes marking the recipes I want to try.

I got the Jen Hatmaker cookbook for Christmas. I am trying the Pork Tenderloin recipe tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
My most recommended cookbook is Scrumptious by Christy Denney - @thegirlwhoateeverything. I got it for Christmas last year and immediately flagged 10-15 recipes. The recipes are simple with minimal, simple ingredients. Everything I've made out of it has been a winner!
The Joanna Gaines cookbooks are favorites too! Of course, Pioneer Woman, Half Baked Harvest, and Damn Delicious are right up there!

If you like Asian/Indian food I’d recommend Nisha Katona’s cook books. Mowgli Street food, 30 Minute Mowgli and Meat Free Mowgli. Very easy and tasty recipes. She is often on TV here in the UK and owns several restaurants.

Are there recipes not on her channel? Yes it seems like they are. Of course there are things like chia oudding, hummus which might just be a different flavour than she has released before. There are 200 pages of recipes and 100 pages of meal prep, info on how to pick, cook, store a bunch of veggies, containers to use, freezer tips. 4 meal prep ideas, what to prep and a few recipes to use, like her meal prep videos. I like that her recipes are almost always things I can by in me small northern village. quiltz Mennonite Girls Can Cook looks good, I've seen their website. Doesn't work for me anymore as I'm gluten free. The Half Baked Harvedt books look good too but too much gluten.

The most popular cookbook here, it seems, is the Recipe Tin Eats book by Nagi Maehashi. She's been on the internet for ages, and this is her first book. I bought it for DD for Christmas, then wished I'd bought one for myself. My stepmum got it as well. My mum loved it too, so we went to the shops on Boxing Day to try and get one for her, but everywhere had sold out. I was given this for my birthday and like it so far. I never paid much attention to her but after awhile realised I was getting many of my go-to recipes from her website.

I got Claire Saffitz's first book, Dessert Person, a while ago and really liked it. I've just borrowed her latest book from the library, What's for Dessert, and find the styling really bad. The pictures just don't inspire me to want to make anything. I get that she was going for a certain aesthetic, which I don't mind, but the execution was absolute garbage. I've looked at many of the pages and thought...but where's the food. The recipes aren't that interesting compared to Dessert Person. I went through and marked a few recipes but I was forcing myself to try something. When she first started marketing the book before it was out, she made some recipes from the book on Youtube. I made them at the time and thought they were good. But now I've seen the book, I think possibly they were the only ones worth making.

It was only a couple of months ago, when she mentioned Sydney in one of her posts, that I realised she is Australian.

A new edition of the classic Betty Crocker cookbook came out this fall. My mom gave me one back in the 90s and I still use it all the time. I’m enjoying looking through it and making plans to try out recipes.

I also did something big. I started a cookbook club in a local girlfriends club! I just posted the event last night, and our first meeting will be the last Saturday of the month. We will voting for a cookbook, and everyone will pick a recipe to cook and bring to the gathering. Super excited to explore cookbooks this way! That is such a great idea! I wish I had a group of friends who like to cook. I'm jealous of your club. me too! Come back and post how it went after your next meet up!

I also checked it out from the library and returned it just a few days later.

Anyone? we've tried that before here, I think it got a little hard to stay with the time frame and commitment. I think maybe we can all try a recipe from a book we have and post the recipe and share the results? Maybe a monthly ongoing thread? I'd be in for that The What's for Dinner thread frequently does this but this we could keep on topic so there is something for everyone.

That way people can share the recipe they tried (title and a little about it) and then give a review - what they liked, didn't like, what they would change. Eta: oh and cookbook title
