In an apartment complex parking lot. It's a very large complex and I wasn't going to go knocking on random doors. The office will be closed until Saturday. So I called the bank and reported it lost (told them I found it). So they're going to deactivate it. I did the right thing, right? I'm going to cut it up now, but I feel bad for the person who lost it.

I *might* have tried to look them up in the phone directory, but I think you did the logical thing.

Yes you did the right thing. Who knows what some nefarious person would do with it?

You did the right thing. If it's a decent bank, they'll notify the cardholder right away.
I'd be so grateful that someone who found my card was honest enough to do what you did.

I found a card on the ground and called the number on the back. I asked the representative what they wanted me to do with it and I was told to cut it up and dispose of it. I was also thanked multiple times for calling. I think fraud is so rampant, they're happy when someone Honest finds a lost card.

You definitely did the right thing! That was a very nice of you to have called and cancelled it for them. I think many people would not have done the same.

I found one in a mall parking lot a few months ago. I called the bank & they did the same thing - cancelled it while I was on the line with them & told me to destroy it. I felt so bad that poor lady was out there without her card (probably panicking) but at least the worst that happened was she had to get a replacement card.

I found one in a store parking lot. I took it in to the store office because I figured they might come to the store looking for it. If I had found it where you did though I would have done the same thing because it might not have even belonged to a resident there it could belong to a visitor. I think you did the right thing.

You did the right thing. Being somewhat paranoid, though, I would want the card back to know that you couldn't somehow access my account anyway! But I'm crazy like that.

I found a card on the ground a month ago, I tried calling the number on the back, Navy Federal Credit, but I was on hold for 8 minutes before anyone would answer so I just hung up and threw away the card.

I'm paranoid that some criminal already had it and used it then dropped it on the ground and the cops are gonna come after me because I picked it up! But I didn't want to just leave it on the ground. I asked if they wanted me to mail it to them--they said to just cut it up.

You definitely did the right thing. I work for a bank and we have people turn them in all the time. People are very thankful for it too.

Yes, you did the right thing. When they call to report it lost they will most likely be told that it was reported lost by the individual who found it and will be able to rest easy.

I accidentally left mine in an ATM last month and when I returned for it, it was gone. I was hoping whomever found it would do the same thing you did, but I also cancelled it immediately and received a new one in about a week .

When that happened to me, the bank told me that the ATM sucks them back in after a certain amount of time

I agree you did the right thing.....and I'm sure the owner will be relieved when they find out the bank know about the card and it's already cancelled and not in the hands of some fraudster!

You did the right thing. I wish everyone was as honest. My debit card got dropped or it was never returned after we used it at a fast good restaurant two weeks ago. The person who picked it up treated themselves to a shopping spree at Walmart and Target before fraud protection called me.
You did the owner a huge favor.
