Looking for a place in MCO Orlando airport to buy a bunch of oranges to bring home. That's the only chance I'll have to get some. We are taking a cruise and will take a bus from the cruise port to the airport at the end. Does anyone know of any place in the airport that sells oranges? TIA.

I don’t know about Orlando, but I’ve seen those mini-marts at airports that sell individual fruits, and I know I’ve seen oranges. They will be expensive though and priced per piece.

How long will you have? Within the airport itself, I can only think of restaurant or grab-and-go type options, but you could send a member of you party by Uber to somewhere close OR to set up a delivery to the Hyatt at the airport.

There are Florida citrus groves that you can order oranges and grapefruit from and they will ship them to you. I have been to MCO may times and do not remember seeing fruit stands , but I haven't flown there recently.

I wanted to be able to save some money and fill one of my carry on bags with oranges. Much cheaper than having them shipped.

I wanted real ripe Florida oranges so bad! We stopped at a stand and I bought a bag. Good gravy - they were the absolute worst oranges I had ever had in my life!
I also bought a jar or orange marmalade and ended up tossing it.
I was so disappointed!

I’m truly not being snarky, but at the height of the citrus season in the southern US, isn’t there a good chance the oranges in your home grocery stores are from Florida?

No, there isn't anywhere there selling oranges. That would've been nice, though.

I'm guessing that you have never seen the oranges in Florida. Google "Sun Harvest Citrus" and look at their navel oranges compared to what you get in other parts of the country. There is no comparison. Get yourself a treat and order some. You won't regret it!

The oranges in my grocery store in Texas. www.heb.com/product-detail/fresh-extra-large-navel-orange-avg-1-24-lbs/375169I don't see a difference? But if you prefer the Florida ones, by all means, enjoy! (Texas grows oranges, but they don't look like these - these came from elsewhere.)

So I was curious and looked up the difference between Florida and California oranges. Apparently they are the same variety but the climate makes California oranges have thicker skins and are not as juicy as the ones grown in Florida. The Florida ones are mainly used for juicing since they have thinner skins. Thank you P’s, you made me learn something new today!
