Scrapbook.com has announced another SBCFest on Friday, March 10th, and Saturday, March 11th, 2023. Details here: www.scrapbook.com/pages/sbcfestWill you be tuning in? Which classes are you most excited about? And while we're on the subject, did you make any of the projects from SBCFest 2022? If so, which one(s) did you make, and how did they turn out? Discuss!

Hmmm, that's the Labour Day long weekend here, and chances are, I will be down at the beach. At least I will be able to watch later on You Tube. I'm interested in seeing what classes there are.

I am going to try and watch live this year. I was only able to catch a few classes in 2022 because I was watching all of the kiddos. I should really go back and watch the whole thing and try and make some projects soon. Perhaps it can be a February goal of mine!

There's literally only 4 weekends a year that I always have plans and they have hit 2 of them so far! LOL! What are the chances?! I never went back and watched from the one last fall and I probably wouldn't with this one either. I'm still gonna go check it out and see what they are offering!

Last time I only took advantage of the sales. I tried to watch a video and it just wasn't for me.
If there are good sales, I will see if any of my wish list items are part of it.

Really enjoyed the videos from the fall. I didn't make any of the projects, but I did pick up some tips from Vicki and Simon, and practiced some stenciling not long after. I definitely took advantage of the shopping promotions too. 🤣
I'll probably catch these on replay this time around instead.

I definitely took advantage of the shopping promotions too. 🤣 I'll probably catch these on replay this time around instead. I watched Vicki's and Simon's 2022 classes, too, and I feel like I learned soooooooooo many interesting things from them. I learned quite a bit from some of the other teachers, too. For me, the most interesting takeaway from SBCFest 2022 was Vicki's idea to stencil using Scrapbook.com's Pops of Color, and then use the stenciled image as a resist for the ink when you do an ink blended background around it. This idea was (and is!) really exciting to me. I already had a few of the bottles of Pops of Color in my stash from when Scrapbook.com gave them out as freebies, but I didn't have the right colors to use with the stencils I have on hand. So bought a few more bottles of Pops of Color because I LOVED Vicki's ideas for using it so much. I just tried using the Pops of Color with stencils a few days ago. I didn't get any of the stencils from the class bundle; instead, I used the Simple Stories Waves stencil with some blue Pops of Color. It came out amazing. I found the Pops of Color easier to stencil with than the acrylic paints and inks I usually use. It has a hard, plastic-y feel to it on the paper after drying -- a different experience than inking through a stencil, for sure. I still have yet to try doing the ink blended backgrounds around the stenciled images, but that is on my to-do list to tackle soon. I am looking forward to it, but I have decided to keep some of the stenciled images I already made with plain white backgrounds and just use them as is, without the ink blending. I'm really pleased with them. I'm also going to try stenciling with a green Pops of Color on an Altenew leaf stencil that I have, and then ink blending the background of that. So I didn't actually make any of the SBCFest projects, either, but I definitely drew inspiration from them. There's another class from the 2022 event that I want to watch over again and actually make the projects, but every time I have checked for the corresponding dies, they have been sold out. Lawn Fawn makes a similar die, and every time I've checked, that has been sold out, too.

But whatever your prior plans are, I'm guessing you'll have way more fun with them than you would have at home watching craft videos...

The beach sounds like more fun than a day of watching crafting videos, so I totally get what you're saying. If there were a beach around here, I'd be at it as often as I could be, too.

After reading about the techniques you’ve shared, now I want to go back and watch the ones I didn’t! Also, I really like the Pops of Color, too. I like nozzle/tip used on the bottle, more so than other brands.

I will for sure tune in. I love live crafting events. I watched some of the 2022 classes and even bought one of the class kits but I haven't made the projects yet. I own a few bottles of the Pops of Colour and love the idea of stencilling with them, I will have to try that for sure.
Paige Evans is doing a class this year so of course I will tune in for that!!

Paige's class is the one I am most excited about, too, Marg. I love her style and the look of her work. Her color palette is brighter and more colorful than mine, because the pics I have to scrap are mostly outdoorsy sailing, beach, hiking, forest, and mountain photos -- so I use mostly blues, grays, greens, browns and neutrals. But her work is such eye candy. I don't know her personally, but it's evident, if you really stop to analyze her projects, that she spends a TON of time on planning and executing them. I'm sure that the project she will present for this event will be amazing. And I'm excited to see what Becki Adams will make, too. I just recently discovered her work and love it. I'm sure I have lots to learn from all the teachers who will be presenting at this event.
