I have an Expression 2 and I’m wondering if it no longer works with the Cricut design space . In the past I was able to use my laptop but when I tried recently I was not able to get it to work. I tried looking around the internet for solutions so I’m hoping someone here knows what going on. TIA

Have you updated the software recently?
I kind of think that I read somewhere awhile back (quite awhile) that those who had used their Cricut Expression within the last month before they made some changes, would still be able to use it. But for those who hadn’t used it for awhile weren’t going to be able to. I hope I’m wrong.
It might be worth contacting their customer support. But you can be waiting a long time to get through, so plan accordingly to be on the phone awhile.

You can't use any Expression machines in Design Space. It works with Explore (1) and above. Do you mean the Explore 2? If so, you should be able to use it. Make sure that you have the most recent update for DS and your laptop's operating system.

I had to reload Cricut Design Space on my laptop last week to make it work. I hadn't used it for a while. I'd give that a try.

Yes, sadly, Design Space isn't compatible with the older machines. Design Studio won't run on newer operating systems, so you probably can't use that either. Maybe that's the program that you had been using? I don't think any of the other companies' programs (Make the Cut and Sure Cuts a Lot) will work with an Expression 2 either. I'm sorry. I know how frustrating and disappointing that is.

Yes, this is correct. I was confusing Design Space (used Cricut Explore and newer machines) with Design Studio (used with Cricut Expression). Unfortunately, Cricut has a track record of abandoning the owners/users of their older machines. Silhouette has done a better job supporting its users IMO on that score. I have both Cricut and Silhouette machines. I am NOT impressed by Cricut management. queenbeeof3, you can either just use your Expression to do basic cutting without the benefit of the online software, or you can buy a new machine. If you even consider the latter, then I suggest you do the following before making your decision: 1. Look at the designs offered by each company to see which you like better. 2. The software for both Cricut and Silhouette are free to download. You will probably be more familiar with the Cricut software, since it is pretty basic. Silhouette has far more capability, but it takes longer to learn for some things you may want to do. Play around with the software of any machine you might consider. The only thing you won’t be able to do is to actually cut, but it will help you see what you are comfortable with.

Thanks for the feedback. I still have my Gypsy and I assume it l still works but I haven't used it in a long time. Last year was the last time I used my laptop with Design Space. This Expression 2 belongs to the school I work at and I also own the original Expression. I need to think over my options.

I had an an Expression 2 and used my Gypsy with it. Started using Craftroom and linked my Gypsy with Craftroom. On the go I would still use my Gypsy. Try your Gypsy with it. As long as the battery is still good, you should be able to. I sold my E2 years ago and gave away my Gypsy to a school to use with legacy machines. I now have The Maker and use Design Space with it.
