Hey all, does anyone happen to know if Simple Stories are continuing with their digital versions of their collections? I've been keeping an eye on their shop, but the digitals haven't been updated in ages... I wouldn't blame them for stopping them, to be honest, as cheeky people like me would choose to buy a digital over actual product any day, so sales are probably affected adversely by their release. Wondered if anyone had the inside scoop...

I have a friend who is a digi scrapper and she contacted SS about this; they told her for the foreseeable future they would not be adding to their digital collections.

I'm interested to know why you think it's "cheeky" to buy a digital kit? There's a whole world of digital scrappers out there who love to be able to buy the same kits that paper scrappers have access to. (As well as all the digital kits we already get - we're greedy! ) I have bought a few of the SS digital kits, and I'm disappointed to find out that there won't be any more new offerings. Thanks for the update guzismom. I checked recently and wondered why there were no new digital kits. Did they tell your friend why? I was told that the reason Cocoa Vanilla Studio stopped making digital kits was because people were using the products and either claiming them as their own, or not giving credit. Personally I thought that was a silly reason, seeing how many digital designers there are out there who don't seem to have those issues.

Yeah, I guess it's not cheeky so much as canny for me really; I'm a paper scrapbooker but use digital kits almost exclusively to save money. I can see how that approach might not help out our industry all that well. And Simple Stories' decision to pause the digital kits has totally worked: I'm so all over Kelly Bang's Valentines line that I've gone ahead and ordered the real thing from Hey Little Magpie in case I miss it waiting for the digital version.

I have the same concern with hurting the industry by incorporating digital collections into the rotation. However, I wasn’t really thrilled by the latest releases and was looking for other options. The money savings is a bonus, too. I’ll never move over to fully digital layouts as I enjoy the whole paper, scissors and gluing process in my creating. Here’s to hoping for an awesome collection from Cocoa Vanilla!

You were looking at it from the point of view of a paper scrapper, and I was looking at it from the point of view of a digital scrapper! The funny thing is, a lot of digital scrapbook designers market their products as hybrid, so that the paper scrappers can enjoy their products too. Do you buy digital papers as well, and print them out? I can't imagine that many people have a printer that does 12x12, so I wouldn't have thought too many paper scrappers would be buying digital kits to print paper out. And that wouldn't be cost effective anyway, having to buy 12x12 paper and buying ink. I just think it's short sighted of Simple Stories and Cocoa Vanilla Studio to stop doing digital kits. It's a whole big market that they've chosen not to supply. And let's face it, creating a digital kit is a whole lot cheaper than manufacturing physical products.

I like Traci Reed's 'Smitten' collection but it's a digital collection, I know she has some actual physical collections but I seem to like her digital collections better but I can't be bothered with printing my own stuff.

I'm also disappointed Simple Stories isn't making anymore digital products. I kept checking to see if certain collections were available in digital and I guess now I know why! I do both paper and digital but I love to do hybrid stuff.
