I am tired of doing it myself. It’s getting longer I struggle to reach the back and my greys seem to show fast .
The local beauty school is accredited and will color hair starting at 38.00.
I am so tempted. I am sure they are supervised. Just looking for feedback.

I have not done it, but there is a local cosmetology school and I know a lot of people use it. $38 is a really good price and you probably would be happy with the results. If you aren't you are not not out that much money.

I started coloring my hair when DD was attending cosmetology school and needed clients. There were several supervisors watching the process from beginning to end.
Do keep in mind that it will take longer than an experienced stylist would take.

I do. My hair is really straightforward and I just get a partial highlight. I go to an Aveda institute and it’s great. It does take much longer but I just bring a book and get comfortable. I’ve had $100 highlights and $30 highlights and I don’t need to go back to paying more.

If it's realatively simple, I would go for it. The last time I tried it, it still ended up costing several hundreds of dollars and took like seven hours. 😂

It does take longer than your normal salon though.

I would/will absolutely do it. My mom has cut and colored my hair my entire life. It's getting too hard for her to do it now so I am looking at other options that are not going to break the bank. Honestly, since COVID and my switch to working from home full time, I really haven't had a need to get my hair cut and colored that often.
At Christmas I went to Fantastic Sam's on whim for my first non-mom hair cut. For $23 it was totally worth it. I don't know that I'd get a color done there but I'll definitely use a cosmetology school for color.

Back when I colored my hair, yes, I went to the beauty school for cut and color. They did a fine job, costing much less than a salon.

I used to be a DIY gal.
Now I have my favorite stylist and it is worth the $$$ for her to do my color and cut. It is expensive, but I look so much better. LOL So much.... oh boy.

I went when my daughter was attending cosmetology school. It took all day but I didn’t mind because it was nice to spend time with dd.

I almost always go to the beauty salon to get my hair highlighted. $28 for partial highlights. $12 for a haircut. I've never had a bad color there. They even fixed my hair with highlights/lowlights when I went to someone a friend goes to who royally messed up my hair.
It does take longer than a regular salon. I think the last time I was there it took 2.5-3 hours for a partial highlight/cut. There are instructors there that have to approve the plan that the student has before they begin their work, check in while they are working and have to check the service when they are finished.

Might that be why the high cost and time factor? It was nice, but I couldn't do the time investment. It would take 2-3 hours at a normal salon, so the extra four were too painful for a few bucks off! Now, I am just greying and scraggly - this was another pre-pandemic lifetime!

Well I went and she did an amazing job. Full foils and some balayage thru out. Brown and copper. It’s beautiful. I spent about 3 hours but it only cost me 50.00. bayalage around here is 150 and foils are 80. So I feel like it was worth 3 hours. I read for the most part.
My husband and daughter love the look so that’s good🤣. I will go back for sure!
