I saw this and thought this has to be a joke. Not a funny joke but still a joke.
So I googled it and apparently it’s not a joke . This channel does exists.
I honestly don’t know what to say.
There is a segment in this country that is dragging us back in time.
From the article…
“Inside The Online Community Where Home-Schoolers Learn How To Turn Their Kids Into ‘Wonderful Nazis’
“A Telegram group called Dissident Homeschool has been a resource for neo-Nazis who want to teach their kids hate at home. Now its administrators have been unmasked.”
On Nov. 5, 2021, a married couple calling themselves “Mr. and Mrs. Saxon” appeared on the neo-Nazi podcast “Achtung Amerikaner” to plug a new project: a social media channel dedicated to helping American parents home-school their children.
“We are so deeply invested into making sure that that child becomes a wonderful Nazi,” Mrs. Saxon told the podcast’s host. “And by home-schooling, we’re going to get that done.”
The Saxons said they launched the “Dissident Homeschool” channel on Telegram after years of searching for and developing “Nazi-approved material” for their own home-schooled children — material they were eager to share.
The Dissident Homeschool channel — which now has nearly 2,500 subscribers — is replete with this material, including ready-made lesson plans authored by the Saxons on various subjects, like Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee (a “grand role model for young, white men”) and Martin Luther King Jr. (“the antithesis of our civilization and our people”).
There are copywork assignments available for parents to print out, so that their children can learn cursive by writing out quotes from Adolf Hitler. There are recommended reading lists with bits of advice like “do not give them Jewish media content,” and there are tips for ensuring that home-schooling parents are in “full compliance with the law” so that “the state” doesn’t interfere.
The Saxons also frequently update their followers on their progress home-schooling their own children. In one since-deleted post to Telegram, they posted an audio message of their kids shouting “Sieg Heil” — the German phrase for “hail victory” that was used by the Nazis.
Over the past year, the Dissident Homeschool channel has become a community for like-minded fascists who see home schooling as integral to whites wresting control of America. The Saxons created this community while hiding behind a fake last name, but HuffPost has reviewed evidence indicating they are Logan and Katja Lawrence of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Logan, until earlier this week, worked for his family’s insurance company while Katja taught the kids at home.
The Anonymous Comrades Collective, a group of anti-fascist researchers, first uncovered evidence suggesting the Lawrences are behind Dissident Homeschool. HuffPost has verified the collective’s research.”

I read that earlier. We have some of those in NJ. The couple who had their kids taken away, one a newborn a year or so ago. It started when daddy got upset because a super market bakery would put the kid's name, Adolph Hitler in a cake ..

Why homeschooling should be better regulated, right there.

Oh My Lawd. I would say I have nothing to say, but those people are evil and anyone educating their child this way are evil as well. Ghouls, the lot of them.

Just remember, a lot of the people complaining about "indoctrination" in public schools and getting mad because "diverse viewpoints" supposedly aren't allowed, are mad because we won't allow Nazi viewpoints (or those closely approaching them) in school. Not every viewpoint deserves time in our curriculum.

Words fail me. The depravity of some people. And what can you do to stop this? Nothing much.

This is bothering me. I have a friend who home schools her child. He has issues and I personally think it is a good idea, especially since experiencing what my DD did in public school. I am saying this to note okay with home schooling in general. However, my friend has gone off the deep end. She is a definite Trumper. She no longer belongs to the home school groups she previously did. She doesn’t listen to “mainstream media” because of “the lies.” She supported and even drove to the “big” truck rally or “The People’s Convoy around Sacramento. Last year they took a day off to go “protest” around the Capital when there were anti-abortion rallies. I looked up the bill in front of the State Legislature and it said nothing about “after birth killings” but to her it did. They won’t watch Encanto because it is about Mexicans. She hates how “woke” Disney has become and points out anything that is different. They listen to every Trump rally and make a big deal about it by making “All American” meals and MAGA cookies. She puts down the homeless. She is judgmental about everyone who is different than she or her immediate family is. Oh and Covid is/was a “PLANdemic”. “They planned it.” She became more and more isolated and went down a rabbit hole during the shutdown and afterwards. She has taken her child out of piano lessons and swim lessons because of having to wear a mask. She lied about immunizations to get into Disneyland. Yet she claims to be a great Christian. She has become a totally different person than I knew. Oh and don’t get me started about all the sex trafficking and the perverts that are lurking around every corner.
I say all this because when I was reading the OP, I got chills. I hope to Helen that she isn’t involved in this group. Though I certainly wouldn’t put it past her. She is already indoctrinating her child.
Nothing wrong with this and it maybe true, but we were together during the Holidays and Bing Crosby singing White Christmas came on the overhead music. Her son announced, “He wasn’t a very good father.” Even that bothered me that she is so uptight and judgmental about people and everything that she can’t even enjoy a great song on the overhead of a store.

I think there are more people like this than we know. I see little comments like you mentioned on local groups more often than I like. It’s a scary time. I certainly don’t think most homeschoolers are anything like this but obviously there are some. Reading the linked article was really eye opening. I just can’t imagine thinking that way. I hate that they are indoctrinating kids to this. I just can’t imagine any one idolizing Hitler. Then again the things I hear from Maga people just makes me 🤦♀️. I was a Republican and just don’t get it. None of this is what I grew up thinking and I certainly can’t condone it. The whole there are good people in these white supremacy groups made me go wtf and I can’t believe that so many don’t see it and ignore his comments like this. Then the other politicians that say the same or worse things and the oh they didn’t mean it that way. That’s exactly what they have said snd many have doubled down so it wasn’t a misspoke incident. Just 🤦♀️ over snd over again. I know this isn’t the majority thank goodness snd just the extremes but still the fact that others don’t loudly disown this sentiment is what gets me. I’m sorry your friend had gone down this path.

I’m sure the distinction makes no difference to someone like your friend, but Encanto is set in Colombia, not Mexico. I shudder to think what she’s teaching her kids about geography.

I do, because about 20 years ago I fell down the rabbit hole of fundie and extremism watching…because we home schooled, ironically. I was seeing disturbing things. Anyway, I could talk your ear off about all this and where it’s lead these 2 decades on.

How much money is anyone willing to bet against me that this will never be a story on FOX News?
Also, why was my first thought in reading this that Kanye West would happily school his children with the materials provided by this channel, if he hasn’t already started?…

This is why I hate telling people I'm homeschooling my kid this year. I make sure it's clear he's online schooling, not following some weird ass curriculum that has an agenda... One of my closest friends is a secular homeschooler who uses normal, appropriate curricula. These people make her irate. And she says that in Texas, it can be difficult to find homeschooling groups that don’t include some crazy people like them.

I have never asked about MAGA cookies. I just assumed they were like sugar cookies with MAGA piped on them.
I started this whole pandemic thinking that it is okay. Each person has to decide to do what they feel best doing to protect themselves and their families. I was not going to let our political differences ruin our friendship. But this has become bigger than our political differences. This is a huge divide. She herself said one time that she “had always been a rule follower” but she “is no longer” because of “all the lies.”
I honestly don’t know when she home schools her son. She used to be very conscientious and scheduled with it. She used to go to homeschool conventions as well. The other day she texted me and she commented that “something is going on because there were 4 helicopters in the area.” She was “flight tracking them.” I am sorry but I don’t have time to worry about flight tracking and worrying about how many helicopters are supposedly “spying” on me. She no longer wears her iWatch or takes her iPhone when she goes out because “of all the tracking.” She has become more paranoid. She spends her time worrying instead of helping her son. Going to protest anti abortion legislation isn’t a “civics lesson.” Taking water to a truck convoy that never left the state isn’t a “history lesson.” I guess that is why when I read the OP I got really really scared.

Why homeschooling should be better regulated, right there. 100%. Some states (NY, CA, eg) are highly regulated for homeschoolers. Other states (NJ, TX) almost completely unregulated.
