I had a friend in high school and I rinsed my glass every time I was at her house. There was some kind of dishwasher film on their glasses that was like nails on a chalkboard. No problem with the dishes, bowls, or silverware, but I could not hold a glass without rinsing it first.

i would absolutely rinse any glass that i would use at my former mother in laws. they hand wash their dishes and didn't use hot water to wash or rinse the glasses/dishes clean. there was always a film in the water that they poured for me. I learned really quick to bring bottled water when being forced to eat at their house. Thankfully i don't have to have my presence grace their house anymore

If I've learned anything from TikTok is that people have very strong opinions/preferences. If a glass came out of my dishwasher, it's clean. My dishwasher is cleaned regularly, including the filter. If a glass came out of my cabinet, it's clean. If I took one out, maybe a wine glass, which doesn't get regular usage, I'd probably give it a quick wash/dry before handing it to someone. As someone said above, I'm more concerned about food preparation. There's a 'song' on TT "You can't eat at everyone's house. Ohhhhh you can't eat at everyone's house". And the more I watch the more I believe. I know there are some people that do stuff for shock value (like the person who mixed drinks in the bathtub/toilet/kitchen sink  ). But there are some people cooking and I would starve to death before eating anything they cooked (filthy kitchen, cross contamination galore, etc). |
