I’ve been working on whether to throw out negatives and CDs from 2004-20teens. Some were from my pre-digital camera era, some were questionably artistic practice, and most were already in my external hard drives, which is where I would look for photos first. I’m not the kind of person who will just toss them without thinking but I checked and double checked that I had them saved a digital files, in albums or photo books, and many printed out too. I’ve tossed out almost all of them, holding onto a few that I can’t seem to find on my EHDs yet. Does anyone else get overwhelmed because there are too many backups and duplicates of photos?! Sometimes I can’t find what I need because I made a folder of copies for a project and then didn’t trash them when I was done so they got saved and backed up in multiple places. Sigh. I’ve got some more digital organization to do. I recently-ish went through 2 boxes of my mum's CD photo backups and 3 CD books worth of mine - with duplication between hers and mine as we would share copies back and forth. I confirmed I had a copy on my harddrive (which is backed up to Carbonite (automatically) and Google Drive (manually)) and then tossed. It was a BIG project. I'm still working on the cleaning up of the harddrive but yes - my goal is to have one copy of each (digital) photo (which is then backed up in a couple of places) rather than multiple copies of varying quality. |

I went through some of my daughters craft items she no longer wants - some things trashed, some things added to a listing I’ve already made as freebies, some things saved for a future listing as they’re Christmas related and some things on my desk to put away so I can use them later (mostly journaling items that are way too cute to get rid of!) The reason for her destash was she wanted to use her craft cart in her room so all the stuff in it had to go. Sad as it’s the end of an era but happy as she doesn’t find joy using it any more

I added nearly all of my embossing folders to my donate box. I also went through all my dies and will donate quite a few random ones. I decided if I realistically will only use of in a set, I kept that one and donated the rest.
I've also been ruthless about donating really old paper I didn't use. I know I don't care for most cream based papers, so those have easy to add to my box.

Got rid of my grunge board and most of my chipboard at the peas advice. I have quite a bit of chipboard I like so I am going to test it with acrylic paint just to make sure I don’t love it and then will let it go. I made good progress over the weekend, just finished going through my misc patterned papers. I’m not going to go through the papers in my bazillion collections because my plan is to donate those with all of the embellishments I didn’t use when I’m tired of it and feel I have used a fair amount. So even if I won’t use the paper I can donate a more complete collection. Next I’m going through my themed papers while I reorganize them from accordion files to snap envelopes and add the appropriate embellishments. Right now they’re in their own shorter accordion files and I want them combined. I also organized all of the stuff I have to donate so that it’s easier for wherever it ends up. It had just been papers and paper sized things in one box and embellishments in a big bag but I’ve added several bins worth and it was just a big mess.

I've gotten through about half of a box of photos - labelling and organising.
Also went through my embellishments tonight - I have a good-sized bag for donation and I completely revamped how I'm storing them. With a few exceptions, they are either by theme or colour in the 4x6 Iris photo boxes. The exceptions are my BIG themes (military, travel, Girl Scouts, nature/camping, Christmas) and they are in a plastic drawer unit.
Also went through my alphabet stickers - put them in a new container as the one I was using was falling apart - I repurposed one of my previous embellishment containers so win-win there. Tossed the ones with no vowels and sorted the rest by colour
My scrap desk is a tip but that's pretty typical mid-re-organisation/purging. I'll do some more tomorrow.

Jumping in as this thread inspired me to do some deep thinking and destashing. I listed 2/3 of my stamps, dies etc and they all sold well (bulk lots). I got some crafty spending money and some space and clarity over future projects and spending.

Went through my scraps folders - tossed the too small scraps and some what did I bother saving THAT pieces. (tossed because we don't have paper recycling here).

Went through my sorted by colour embellishments - put a good number into the donation bag. Cleared off my scrapdesk. Emptied, cleaned, and refilled my tool carousel. I'm done in the scrap space for now but the final total is two bags of trash and one 2-gallon ziploc for donation

I have been going through my stash and had some washi, alphas, stamps, and embellishments to get rid of. I took it all to an in person crop and managed to give away about half of it. I think I will post the rest for free on Facebook. I still have to go through my paper and embossing folders. And wood veneers, and ribbon, and Stickles, and….

Guess what I tackled tonight?? Matstacks! Anyone remember matstacks? I thought they were an absolute must have, I bought about every one that matched a DCWV stack I had, plus many many more. If I loved the stack, I bought two! Well, I sorted two bins of matstacks tonight, and went through each stack. I am not sure, but someone ( linda maybe? or kitbop ?) was saying they use the white side of ugly paper to use for layouts. I thought, why not use the white side of ugly matstack paper to use for the inside of a card, when I use mat the interior of a card, or make a card that does not have a white cardbase. I looked at each piece of paper in each matstack. Over 20 matstacks. I made 3 piles: one to cut down to 5 1/4 x4 for the inside of cards, one to actually use as matting (could flip and use the white, or use the matstack piece) and one to use for diecuts or embellishments on pages as some of the pages were glitter or something that might look nice cut out. I cut down almost 8 whole matstacks for the inside of cards. Why oh why did I need so much Tim Holtz distress matstacks? Or the kid ones, with hopscotch on them?? Anyway, I made a lot of space in there and I think this paper will now actually get used. Yay! |

Anyone else considering watching the Paper Crafters Get Organized summit? I think I’ll do the free ticket but I’m going to sign up last minute just before the 19th to minimize emails. I think Natasha Foote is going to talk about her small space which is actually a really small space - a corner of her bedroom. I’m so sick of “small space” tours that are bigger than my primary bedroom! papercraftersgetorganized.com/I’ve forgotten whether I found the summit a waste of time in the past. I’ll probably be pretty picky about who I watch. |

At least it will give us something fresh to discuss  and you never know when a really good idea will occur to you while watching something else! Speaking of good ideas, Dana K White's words have taken up permanent residency in my brain, and one of the things she talks about is having things fit "get-to-ably" into the container (space) you have for them. Shoving and having a "crapalanche" means you have too much for the space. I have been struggling a bit with my most-used drawer and finally realized that the stack of Scor-Tape was the problem. The two small rolls I use more often are fine, but they were stacked on the big one I rarely use - logical to keep them together, but it made it hard for me to access things I use all the time. Turns out all I needed to do was remove that one roll of tape and the whole drawer works better. Didn't even need to get rid of it - it fits neatly in the back of the drawer that I rarely reach into. If I need that space later I'll RAK the tape. I did a quick rearrange of my ink drawer too, made some space for Solar Pastes, and my awkward T ruler is a little less awkward now that it's got more room. (But I might replace it with a mini one like this link) |

I was somehow convinced I needed a T-square ruler and I don't think I've used it once. I do use my CS 8" grid ruler when I feel the need to ensure things are straight. I wonder whether or not I would use it more were it smaller?
My "new untried stuff" bin was overflowing. I moved some things that I at least have actual plans/ideas for to a second bin and then a subset of THAT into a third one for things that are seasonal and should be used NOW. Stamped and colored/watercolored some tulips and some cherry blossoms this morning.
The GOOD news is that there IS room in my "regular" stash bins, so I will be able to put these things away properly when I'm done.
But other parts of the craft space are kind of in shambles. Might have to sent the next hour or so trying to recover them.

Half of the time when I use it the things end up more crooked somehow. It's a giant pain in my butt, tbh, and I'd be better off eyeballing, using a regular ruler or a small gridded quilting ruler, using a mat with grid lines, or even just using a piece of scrap cardstock to line things up. I talked to my husband about trimming mine down to fit into my drawer after posting this morning and he says it would be no trouble, but it might be even easier just to declutter it. I think I just convinced myself. Sounds like you're in need of some time/energy to work on new stuff Shakti At least you can get double points for your organizing time this weekend. Tulips and cherry blossoms sound lovely... I might stamp a few blossoms myself, come to think of it. |

I know that the disadvantage of The Container Store is price, but I have got to say, the fact that they list every outside AND inside diameter of the containers on the web site is worth every penny. You can tell if it's going to hold what you want to put in it AND if it's going to fit in the space where you want to store it...ALL before stepping foot in the store! |

The pads fit perfectly without bending and it takes up the least amount of space in your craft space because the bin itself is just slightly wider than the pads. I love it and highly recommend! I’m the pea in the shops with a bag full of random items I stick into all the containers to really make sure they fit - dvds, paper pads, thickers, stamp sleeves… then out comes the measuring tape to make sure it fits into my shelves 😂
I’ve had many a weird look but I don’t care - I hate having to go through the returns/refunds/finding a replacement process!

I'm not sure how many of you watch decluttering videos for fun but this lady, Mira, could be one of us. She's been struggling to "peel away the clutter" after dealing with a lot of grief, major depression, and health issues, and she's just started on the room she cares about the most - her scrapbook room. She has a couple of people (YT cleaners) helping her but she's had quite a lot of practice in sorting by now, thank goodness, because only she can make decisions about what stays and goes in this room - and there are so many decisions.
I actually asked in the comments if she's ever been a Pea or if she'd like to join us, since she could really enjoy the challenges and community here. But anyway, thought y'all might enjoy watching this. It's long! I'm watching while doing some crafting and tidying myself.

BTW Natasha replied on YT that she uses "a little writing desk, so my work space is about 28 inches by about 16 inches I think. And I'm in the corner of my bedroom." So she can definitely teach us something about small space organizing!!

I keep my 6 x 6 pads in bright room containers as well. Love them and they are less expensive than the CS (love that store). I have ladder shelves in my room that hold these bings well. I also us Target's Brightroom clear circular turntable for all of my pen and small tool storage. The three 12 x 12 drawers that fit in a shelf are also favorites. So much good stuff at Target. ETA: I have a small Hobby Lobby tape measure in my purse and one in my vehicle. An eighth of an inch matters in some cases with storage. I keep one in my vehicle as well.
