Thank you admin for giving us the option to label bumped threads " OLD THREAD". So useful for those of us wanting to avoid encouraging bot interaction or just those of us who have not noticed the thread is old and have waded through a number of pages. I know the label can't be seen on all platforms but I am pleased we have it.

That’s a great addition- doesn’t mean we can’t re-discuss stuff but at least we will be aware we’re doing it! 😊

I love the new thread label. I often do enjoy reading back through old threads, but it's nice to be alerted to the fact that it IS old.

Oh that's great! How did we find out we got it? Was there an annoucement?

That helps so much! Now I can tell and see if it’s a real update or a one post wonder.

Great idea. I don't always check dates so this is a great one. Thanks!

I’m usually well into a thread before I realize it’s old. Much like I get halfway through a movie before it dawns on me I’ve already watched it! This will be useful for people like me.

I love it! I find the label very helpful. Of course, with that said, (and because we *are* “the Peas”), I am waiting for the inevitable question of “ what constitutes a thread being old? How “old” is “old” to be considered an “old thread”.

Let's see how it goes. Doesn't stop the need to report spam posts (and even with restricted registration, spammers can still get through, sometimes there are none of the usual "tells" to give them away before they start to post), but I don't really see any downside to having it. There used to be a warning or banner on a thread that was over 3 months old... There still is, but it is based on the most recent post on the thread, so obviously as soon as a spammer bumps a thread it no longer gets the warning banner - they're the ones who see it before they post and they don't care... If I delete the spam post before anyone else posts after it the thread will drop back down, but of course I don't delete regular members' posts even if they're after a spam post, which then keeps the thread 'current'. That's where the old thread label will be most useful I think.

Love it! Hurrah! I’ve gotten to the point of checking the date of the first post of threads if they are several pages long and I don't recall seeing them the last time I was on the board. Thanks much for taking care of this admin

Thanks much for taking care of this admin I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to, but the "Created by" column that shows the post's origin shows the date the thread was started and by whom. I don't see anyone using the label. It doesn't show up on phones or mobile. Actually, and this has only just occurred to me, if you are on a phone and switch to the desktop version (scroll right to the bottom of the page and hit desktop on the right in the blue bar) you will see the labels for politics and old thread. The three old thread ones from yesterday are currently on page two. Then, if you wish, you switch back to the mobile version by the link at the very bottom of whatever page you are on.

For me, I find the mobile version easier to read on my phone; the desktop has smaller text that I would need to enlarge and it has avatars to the side of posts and signatures as you would expect on a lap top or computer. The mobile version, for me, is more streamlined for a small screen, avatars are at the top of the post, there are no signatures and the text doesn’t need to be enlarged so there is no scrolling from side to side.

Please can I just ask, what is this label intended to be used for? Where a spammer has posted rubbish on an old thread, and we're trying to ignore it so it can drop off the first page? Or for legitimately reopened old threads, just so that people are aware?
I thought it was for threads that have been spammed, so I haven't been opening anything with the label. But if it's a Pea resurrecting an old thread legitimately, then I will. Thanks!

But if it's a Pea resurrecting an old thread legitimately, then I will. Thanks! I would suggest both. Firstly to alert people that a spammer/bot may have maliciously bumped the thread. Secondly so those of us who were familiar with the thread the first time round do not go reading through, sometimes pages, an entire thread when really all they need to do is go to the end.

Yeah, I use it as a "jump to the last post" identifier.
