So I’m looking into buying a pair possibly. I know they would come in handy when I fly not sure when else I would use them so just wondering if they’re worth the expense. And just curious when and how people use them.

I was just adding some to my cart on Amazon. I found a $30 pair with good ratings.. but I'll keep my eye out on this thread too. I have an Iphone and really don't want to spend a ton of money on them.
I would use mine at work mostly. We can pretty much stream stuff or listen to music while working.

I use mine to listen to music and podcasts while working out and around the house.
I also use them to talk on the phone. It allows me to be hands free.

I finally broke down and bought a pair almost 2 years ago. LOVE THEM. Really bummed that I waited so long to jump on the bandwagon. Mine are the pro version.
I primarily use them at home or out walking - when walking I just use one so I aware of what’s going on around me. At home I love them for listening to the news while moving around and doing chores, cooking, etc. without cranking the volume. I also have two children under the age of 3 next-door (I live in a condo). As is with children, the mid afternoon to early evening are particularly loud (what I used to call the witching hours when my son was that age), and I find it much nicer to listen to music or whatever without the kids’ screeching (totally normal small children noise) interrupting me.
I also use them when flying and I don't want to bring my larger noise cancelling headphones.
I do want to add that I had to replace the rubber part that goes in the ear to smaller rubber pieces that I purchased on Amazon. Apparently my ear canals are small. That said, I do need to remove them after a couple of hours because they start bugging my ears. Usually about 15-30 minutes after removing them I can out them back in without them bothering me.

I love mine! I have the AirPod Pro version. I mainly use mine to listen to audio books at work, but I also like to use them if I'm working outside in my garage or yard, or if I'm doing a project inside my house. Having all the other noises blocked out helps me concentrate.

I was of the same mind. I just wanted them for when we travel and I don’t want to carry my over the ear headphones. so I just got the first generation basic ones. Two years ago, they were on sale for $99 at Christmas and I picked up a pair.
I really like them and found myself wearing them when I’m vacuuming or using my stand mixer which is loud. When talking on the phone, it’s nice to walk around the house using them vs carrying my phone around with me. Then I started using them when DH was working from home or we were both listening to different audio books or podcasts. And then when i was working out in the garden. I’ve found that I still don’t use them everyday, but do use them a lot more than I thought that I would.

And just curious when and how people use them. I love my regular AirPods, but hate the Pros. The pro ones are too big for my ears. I love using mine for phone calls, listening to music & podcasts, even recording instructional videos (the mic is pretty good) when I need to have some noise canceling but don't want to hook up a bigger mic.

I've had a few pairs of AirPods but my go-to headphones for travel now are Beats Fit Pro. They are more comfortable for me and have active noise cancellation (the AirPods Pro have ANC, regular AirPods do not). Since Apple owns Beats, they work just as seamlessly with an iPhone as AirPods do. Sound is good and I use them for everything except calls. I cannot wear regular AirPods for an extended period of time because they're too hard and my ears get sore. And I think the Fit Pros are more comfortable than the AirPods Pro. Plus, I find AirPods (both styles) relatively easy to knock out of my ears because of the longer stem. However, I don't love noise cancelling headphones for calls, so I use my Powerbeats Pro then. I also use these for especially vigorous workouts because they're so secure on my ears.

I lost my Air Pods and when I got a replacement pair, I just bought the base model rather than the Pro. I use them every day. Listening to podcasts or music while walking the dog or watering the garden Watching Netflix etc on my phone on the train to work Watching Netflix etc in bed on my MacBook or phone without disturbing DSO if he is asleep Watching You Tube videos on my MacBook while the rest of the family are watching TV Listening to podcasts or music at work Listening to podcasts while cooking, so others can still watch TV without me disturbing them I love that if a call comes through, Siri asks if I want to answer, and I can just say "yes" and can answer hands free. I have set mine up so that a double tap on the right pod will pause the music/podcast, and a tap on the left will skip ahead. I like that if you misplace them, you can use the Find My app to locate them. (But not my first pair, because they were flat.) I love that I no longer have to try and untangle cords.
I'm sure the Pro version can do lots more stuff than my base model.

DS was looking for a Christmas gift for me and was at Costco. Right in front of him were Air Pods Pro and that’s what he got me. I like them a lot and use them to listen to music when I exercise. They are great.

This might sound odd, but I hate being out in public sometimes. I find it easier to run errands like shop at target if i can drown out the chaos around me by losing myself in a podcast/music while I shop. I also bring them with me to Disneyland for the same reasons (I like tuning out others).

My kid has them and she uses them all.the.time. She originally had a base model pair that she used until one died. For Christmas she asked for the pro version and since that was pretty much the only thing on her list (and they were more expensive), that was what she got. She mostly just listens to music but she also has them in when she’s watching YouTube videos or when she is FaceTiming with her friends.

I love my AirPods Pro. I bought them during Covid teaching when I had to attend a million online professional developments and meetings. Now I mostly use them for audio books or music when exercising or cleaning the house, or for music and videos while traveling. Periodically I pop them in if I want to watch a YouTube video at home with out disturbing DH.
I have tiny ear canals, and the regular AirPods didn’t work for me. The Pro version comes with differently sized silicone tips, and the smallest ones were just right.

I have the long stemmed version 2 (I think) AirPods. They don’t have noise cancellation so I don’t find them useful for walking outside as I would need them turned up too high to drown out traffic noise but I love them for listening to my iPad in bed without disturbing DH, wearing when travelling, Zoom calls and for listening to podcasts and answering calls when I’m at home.
I don’t find them super comfortable after an hour or two of wearing them.

All of that. My AirPod Pros are a cold dead hands item. For me the number one feature is noise cancellation. When I ride the subway the last thing I want to do is listen to 5 different conversations going on around me. The feature also comes in handy when my upstairs neighbors forget that there is anyone living downstairs.
Totally worth the expense. I got the first generation and as soon as the second generation was out I bought those too.

I have both the original Apple AirPods and the AirPod Pro's. Love them both, but the originals do make my ears hurt if I wear them for a long time. Love the Pro's! I have a couple (cheap) off-brand's and they do not compare to the Apple ones. I also have an iPhone, so the ease in using them with the iPhone is so simple! The pro ones are too big for my ears. Have you tried all the different size tips? I use the smallest tip size and those work great for me. I had a different size on for a long time, and couldn't believe how much better I liked them when I switched to a small tip.

I got some regular air pods for dog walking today. I have good-quality noise cancelling headphones, so that wasn't important to me; it was $99 for regular ones and $250 for pros, so that was what I did .

I have the regular AirPods that came free when we bought DD her Macbook. I love them! I never used to listen to podcasts. but now that I don't have to be tethered to my phone, I love podcasts while I'm in the laundry room or when my walking partner bails and I have to walk by myself (gym or streets).
There is a big difference between having a cord and not having a cord. That surprised me! I'm not a tech connoisseur.

When my son bought some, I thought he'd gone mental for spending so much money on tiny earbuds. Then I tried them.
Now everyone in our family has them. I use mine for Zoom calls, YouTube, workouts. I'm not sure they're the best for flying because they don't work with seatback screens.
For flying, DH and I bought the big magilla Bose noise cancelling headphones a few years ago. Now there are no crying babies, loud conversations or chatty seatmates. It's nirvana. It seemed like a stupid amount of money at the time, but worth every cent.

They were on sale at Best Buy, the AirPods Pro, second generation, and I forgot that I had about $75 in gift cards from there. So I went ahead and ordered them and they’ll be here on Tuesday.

I got the pros and have only used them a few times. They fall out if I lean over. I have tried both tips. I prefer the older corded version and they don’t fall out. I guess I should try them but am afraid they will fall out into water or something. I do like not having to carry my phone around with them. I also was surprised how quickly they need to recharge.

I saw someone with a little device that plugged into the headphone jack on the screen that made it Bluetooth - so the airpods could hook up. The Bose headphones sound awesome! I am always paranoid about loosing an earbud on a plane, and it is so tight quarters, it's hard to hunt them up. You can buy a silicone band that hooks to the tips of the earbuds and goes around your neck, so if it falls out, it stays on you. One of my friends' son lost an earbud on a plane. The person behind him picked it up and would not give it back. The young man finally used the Find My app and made the missing bud play a sound, so the person who had it finally handed it over. People now days... Sigh..
