small Cutter Bee scissors, If you don't plan on checking a bag, I would recommend buying some scissors that have a round tip. I once had a brand new pair of cutter bees confiscated through security because I had forgotten they were in my crafty pouch in my carryon. Oh no, sorry that happened to you! Thanks for the warning blemon!my Instax printer and extra film How do you feel this prints? Is it better than the photos look? I'd love to buy a small printer but I'm just so on the fence about them. I've been making notes in my pages then batch printing when I get home. Also, thanks for the video! Otherwise your kit sounds a lot like mine. I don't bring stamps but I sometimes bring a date stamp and one small ink pad. I just love date roller stamps. The Instax printer is not the greatest, but I read and watched many reviews and comparisons of all the small printers, and decided on this one. At home I have an Epson PM400 and a Canon TS9521C, which are both fantastic, so I won't worry the small photos in my travel journal not being perfect. I'll try to post a couple of sample shots.Love all of this talk about supplies. Gets me excited! Me too!!

Enjoying all of these ideas because I finally convinced DH we need a vacation this summer - even if it is just an overnight! (We've not been on a trip of more than one night since 2017.)
Here's my question for the group: We are going to be going to mostly museums for this trip. Thoughts on small captions for photos? I don't do journaling on my pages, but am thinking small captions made on my Cricut might be fun.

This is very similar to what I did for a month long trip to Colorado last year and it worked well. I had a dotted traveler notebook, small sticker HP printer, double sided tape, stamp block and shammy, a 3x4 alpha stamp set, 2-3 travel stamp sets, black stamp ink and maybe 3-4 distress ink pads, a small bag of travel embellishments from Ali Edwards and some coordinating Heidi Swapp stop the blur items (her stuff is small so a good size for a TN), a few washi tapes, journal pens, mild liners. I may have had small scissors and or a paper cutter, but you don’t need both. I think I may have had a small rolling date stamp and corner rounder also. I did not do it every day, but I loved having it and being able to document while there. I recently found a TN notebook that has a month long calendar and weekly spreads and next trip I plan to bring one of those along with the dotted notebook so I can capture the schedule as well. we are headed to Spain this summer so definitely helpful to read this thread and start planning. I’m going to make a big trip album also, so the TN will help me capture moments. I am planning to use 49 and Market Everywhere, a bit of HS set sail + new travel stamps, and then see what Ali E’s travel collection look like. I will definitely pull out coordinating stop the blur products again because they are perfect for these smaller spaces. I still need to add an ink pad, journaling pens, a glue stick, a few colored pencils, a Mildliner, and whatever else I can think of in the next few months. I'm trying to keep everything in one medium pouch, so I really need to think about what I'm taking.

margieThank you for the comparisons. The Instax printer looks just fine. And better than bringing the instax camera around. I am seriously considering this purchase.

Confession time...or what I learned on my summer vacation. I just returned from two weeks in Alaska and Vancouver (cruise and land tour). I took my Instax printer and a medium Delfonics Multi Pouch stuffed with all the things (including 4 extra printer cartridges, pens, mildliners, colored pencils, carefully curated stickers and die cuts, scissors, adhesives, and a brand-spankin'-new Boho Designs Wanderlust Passport). I never opened the pouch. There was just so much to do and see, and I was enjoying myself so much that all my good intentions went right down the drain. On a positive note, I did collect ephemera and took hundreds of pictures. I posted a few pictures with descriptions in Facebook every day, so I will type up a few paragraphs for each day now while my memories are fresh (which will be very helpful when I create a Shutterfly-type book of the trip). Then I'll fill my travel journal with all the goodies. I've learned that there's no point in taking all my stuff on vacation because I won't use them until I've returned home. But it was fun planning on what to take and it should be a fairly simple process to put the journal together because I will only use the products that are in the pouch instead of wasting time going through all my stash trying to decide what to use. How are you all finding the travel journal process? ETA: I forgot to mention: I decided not to take any stamps and ink. Before the trip, I stamped phrases and images I thought I might use on clear sticker paper and cut them down to size.

I never opened the pouch. This was me when I went to Germany & France for 3 weeks. I took all kinds of documenting stuff and ended up just writing down travel notes on my notes app on my phone. By the end of the day I was so spent I didn't feel like doing anything except relaxing and not doing anything that would engage my brain. Now when I travel I take a pouch to hold all the ephemera and a backup notebook with a couple of pens in case I feel the spirit move to physically write something. I mostly keep all notes in my notes app or in the Day One app. I love seeing everyone's "on the road" documenting and I aspire to want to do that, but that's just not me. And also, that's why I have so many trips I've taken that I've never scrapbooked or documented beyond the notes/Day One apps. 🤦🏼♀️

I can't wait to see everyone's albums now that people are coming home from their trips!
I brought a small kit with me and I did do some scrapbooking (if you can call it that) while I was away. So my trip was one month. I was teaching in the Netherlands for the first 3 weeks. 2.5 weeks in, my family joined me for the last couple of days, then we went to The Hague, Delft, then Belgium (Blankenberge for some beach time, a day trip to Bruges, then 4 days in Brussels).
I gathered up ephemera and took 1141 photos.
I took with me: page protectors in various sizes, paper cut to the size of the page protector, some die cuts and stickers, one small ink pad, one date stamp, scissors, double sided tape, glue stick, a few journal cards. I bought a small stapler while I was there. I just needed it and it was cute. I will actually probably travel with one slightly larger (still a mini) next time.
Every day I would make a pile of the stuff from that day. Every week I made an album (week 1, week 2, week 3, week 3 part 2). Then I made an album for the cities after that because it was easier to keep track. At the end of the day I'd go through my pics and put the ones I wanted to use in albums. Once my peeps arrived I had them air drop me their good pics and I put them in the albums too.
When I had time (and I kept up with this the whole time. Every couple of days I'd take an hour and sort through ephemera, cut it up for the pockets. I'd make notes about what photos would go where.
So I used up most of the pocket pages, most of the paper cut to size. I didn't really use any of the journal cards or do any of the fun embellishing (stickers or die cuts). I didn't once use the stamp or the pad.
Once I got home I had all but the last day in Brussels ready to go and we were out of ink. So I finished up the last day while waiting for that to show up.
I had to buy a second album because it's so big. Album 1 is done. I'm a day or two into Album 2. Just printing pics to size and adding embellishments as I go.
Now, when I went to Disney I brought a small kit with a TN and didn't touch a thing. I was just too done at the end of the day.
But being gone a month meant I had an apartment for 3 weeks and my own space to spread out on the bed to play around when I had time. Then in the various VRBOs that we had, I had a table. I made the time in the evenings after we had already walked like 18,000 steps and were eating in.
We have a camper and have taken trips that are 2-3 weeks long. I also bring a kit (with a bit more stuff than I did for flying) and do the same thing with similar success. But that's because we will stay at each campsite a couple - 3 nights so I usually have an evening to catch up. Or I can mess around while we are driving from place to place. And that is really just choosing pics, putting notes in pockets, etc. I keep a bag for each day with ephemera and chop it up later.
If anyone has any good links or pics, please share! I'd love to see your projects or your favorite projects.

blemon I am so impressed by your organisation! Wow! If only I could have kept something going during our road trip - this time, I did hardly anything but collect ephemera and think I'd put it all together once home. Since then, life at home is chaotic because we have a huge building project ongoing and my space is covered in dust. One day I will *start* my 2023 road trip journal! I have all the material (and all the excuses!) but in the meantime, I need to go travelling again margie thanks for posting those comparison pics which are really interesting. My Canon Selphy just bit the dust and I was wondering about replacing it. I'm not sure I will.

margie thanks for posting those comparison pics which are really interesting. My Canon Selphy just bit the dust and I was wondering about replacing it. I'm not sure I will. You're welcome elegantsufficiency. I don't know if I'd compare the Canon Selphy to the Instax printer. The Instax photos are pretty small - approximately 2-1/2 x 1-3/4 (although the paper itself is a little larger...making them look like small Polaroids. Quality-wise, I'm not sure how they compare. A while back, I ordered both the Canon Selphy and the Epson PM-400 and did a side-by-side comparison. Not only is the picture quality better on the PM-400...both color and sharpness, but the PM-400 prints true 4x6 as well as 5x7 photos, and you can use any brand of photo paper. Hope that helps!

margie thank you for the heads up re the Epson. I ought to explain the circumstances (and apologies for taking this off subject) Our son and dil are expecting their first baby (our first grandchild!) and wanted to print some pics for their pregnancy diary (the apple didn't fall far from the tree!) so I gave them my Selphy which printed one photo and broke! I knew those photos would be long lasting (I know none of them will last forever, but in a book, I thought they'd be ok) but reading reviews, I think they'd be better getting such precious pictures printed professionally - and I'll explore other alternatives at leisure...including the Epson, which might be the answer for me if not for them. After all, Grandma might have lots of pix to print out come January!! Bringing this back on track...we are off on a cruise on Tuesday and yet again, I'll take my journal stuff with me. I know from experience that I will have time to get it going, at least, but also know that my problem will be the opposite of my road trip trouble. On a road trip, I have too much ephemera and not enough time, but whilst on a cruise with time to get on with it, there will be hardly any ephemera to use! Oh my. Yet again, I have all the excuses!! I will take watercolours...
