I used to do them 20 years ago before there was a name for them.
Facebook has been targeting me with junk journal supply ads and I finally ended up buying supplies- mostly Japanese stickers and ephemera. I figure I can also use my scrapbook supplies that I bought because they were pretty but didn't really fit in with the way I scrap. I'm kind of eager to get out all of the old stuff, like rubber stamps, from all of those years ago. I ordered a spiral bound drawing pad from Amazon and I can't wait to play.
Does anyone here do junk journals?

I did bullet journals for years, until everything shut down during covid and I started working from home. I found them super useful but I didn't decorate them like some people do. There were some great YouTubers I followed that did truly beautiful art in them.
I do get a lot of junk journal reels popping up in my Insta feed. Vicky Papaioannou does them now. I see lots of washi and ephemera being used in them. Tim Holtz' stuff would work well in them, he has that thin collage paper and his stamps would work well.

I have a scrapbook-mixed media style journal. It's for my thoughts, writing, other people written stuff (quotes, poems) that I like-found profound-etc.., my bucket list, a place to release some of my feelings, among other things, etc...
It is a three ring binder(no sheet protectors), I use scrapbook paper, cut in assortment of sizes (glued back to back, so I can write on both sides). I have watercolor crayons, stencils, stamp, stickers, to use in there. It's messy, random, hand written, not perfect, etc...
It started out about 20-ish years ago, as an organized scrapbook style journal, everything printed out - neat and orderly, sheet protectors, organized, etc...
I've always admired the messy mixed media style (way out of my comfort zone). Life is messy, life is not perfect, I am not perfect, etc.... My thoughts are a mixture of everything(normal, hot mess, and everything inbetween) and I wanted my journal to reflect that. In the fall of 2019, I took my organized journal apart, and began putting together a messy style journal (using various sizes pages of scrapbook paper). I copied my perfectly printed thoughts, writings, etc... as well as all rest (bucket list, things others wrote) and wrote them in my own hand writing. I have a lot of my writing in emails that I sent myself, and plan to write that down in my own handwriting. It's a work in progress. It's been very therapeutic and healing for me.
Re-doing my journal has prompted and lead me to begin (and it's in the very beginning stage) a new project. I've read other people books, and I love the thought provoking things that I get from them. I don't love reading someone's exact story in a book and more than once said, "I wish there was just a book of questions without someone's personal story in it". A book of journal prompts. There are books like that, and I've read through them...but I want to write my own book, with questions I want to ask(and answer) myself. So I decide to write my own book of journal questions.

Yes! I started about a year ago and have managed to fill up an IKEA cart with supplies. I have various different sizes of journals. It’s cathartic and easy. I can complete a page in less than 10 minutes or take longer if I want. I just love it!

I don't journal because I find it too stressful. I do love paper crafting and have done some form of "scrapbooking" and/or "junk journaling" most of my life. Mostly, I find that act of working with paper fun and relaxing and love to keep little journal/scrapbooks of memorabilia, ephemera or just anything I find visually pleasing. Recently I have discovered "glue books". I like being able to be creative, but enjoy the process without having any rhyme or reason, using what I find, from any source - with no rules. I have so many paper crafting supplies, that it's a pleasure to use them with no regard to a rigid intent or purpose. I'm enjoying being creative without having to worry about purpose, neatness or rules, because with glue books, there are no rules! www.creativefabrica.com/the-artistry/journaling/what-is-a-glue-book/

I do get a lot of junk journal reels popping up in my Insta feed. Vicky Papaioannou does them now She does beautiful pages that look completely doable. I love watching her little videos on IG and her full videos on YT. I have a little journal where I randomly add extra stickers/tapes/die cuts that I like that I'll never use in crafting along with other little bits of ephemera that I don't want to put in the trash. I don't spend much time or energy on it though.

i create junk journals and use them as “scrapbook/memory journals. i use lots of my scrapbook supplies and am endeavoring into more mixed media.
i don’t tend to journal/write a great deal on most pages unless i’m inspired by a certain subject.
i went from 12x12> project life> to 8x8> to mini albums> to binding my own junk journals. i love all the choices and plan to try some 12x12’s this year
