You can grab a free ticket here cardmakersuccesssummit.com/Its on the same weekend with the Pinkfresh event, so probably I won't catch most of it. Alicia from callmecraftyal will be on it with a SheetLoad of cards sketch.

I would like to catch Alicia's exclusive Sheetload and Ardyth seems to be making a set of coordinating stenciled cards suitable for gifting. Besides those two I haven't seen anything I'm especially interested in and the one year I watched about a dozen videos it distracted me from my own style and priorities and wasn't great (for me).

I've attended a few of these, and they just aren't my thing. Many of the classes usually aren't of interest to me, and the instructors go so fast that you are practically forced to purchase the All Access VIP pass so that you can re-play the videos to follow them. It's not worth the price for a video or 2, plus a few SVG files or patterns. And some of the instructors just aren't very good teachers. JMHO.

I watched for free last year and found it definitely wasn't worth paying for. Ardyth was a good teacher and I liked her cards, and I think Juliana Edwards was there, too? I like her. But otherwise not impressive. Totally not interested this year. I wouldn't mind checking out the sheet load of cards class, but not enough to sign up for the event.

I "attended" the free version last year and I agree with riversong1963 and marg. I wasn't impressed and so glad I didn't pay for it.

Having put myself on Cards for Cubs email list, I received an email about the summit without having see this thread. I got the all-access pass for $39, which seems not totally unreasonable. The “list” price for it is definitely bonkers.
So far, I have access to a completely bizarre 378-page PDF “workbook”. It has a photo (supposedly) of each card, “instructions” (not illustrated?!?), supplies used, place to list your substitutions from your stash, and, most useless of all, transcripts of the videos. It’s not at all clear to me of you could actually use this to recreate anything.
Mostly it’s allowing me to cross more of the classes off my agenda.
wait! I hadn’t checked this morning— looks like I have access to all the recorded videos now.

So, I'm well aware that I'm nearly the only one here who loves coloring, but I've just watched three videos on that subject from the CMSS and I'm pretty happy.
Two were on alcohol markers -- very different styles of using them -- and the third was on colored pencil over watercolor.

What's with the 378-page booklet, though? Imagine having to put that together, what a huge task!

It's just a PDF and most of it isn't worth printing. No real usable step-by-step instructions or anything that I've noticed so far. I'm finding it useful mostly for figuring out what to skip.
Just watched Justine Hovey'd Q&A on stenciling and looking at her website's free resources. Those look worthwhile as well. I have enjoyed the stencils I've used and have more to experiment with. I'm ooking forward to going back to watch her recorded demo.
Yes, I think that I've gotten my money's worth. I'm thinking of it more as a technique-learning/tips kind of thing, not really an actual card-making kind of thing.

I watched Ardyth’s video today. I’ve watched all her other Stencils360 videos and I’m doing my best not to buy the tool. I appreciated that she showed another couple of options including one that doesn’t use the tool at all. She kind of apologized for showing so many cards but that’s what I like about her videos. I watched a wee bit of her love Q&A but she seemed pretty uncomfortable which made me uncomfortable, stupid 2nd hand embarrassment, and since I already knew the answers to the questions I watched I stopped when I hit an ad break.

I had never seen her before and watched all of both. I think she settled in and got more comfortable in the Q&A later. The Q&As weren’t all that visual, so I listened to them instead of the radio for much of work@home day. Then occasionally scrambled to find where I’d put that window when it sounded like I wanted to see something.

I signed up for this one. Each of the classes are available for free for 24 hours. I don’t see the time limit as an issue, because I can always pause the video to catch up, take notes, etc.
Edited to add: I just watched the interactive card by My Favorite Things. It was definitely worth watching. I was able to download the instructions, supply list, etc. I’m going to watch it again and take a few screen shots, then make the card. I already own the stamp set she used, and I need to make a birthday card for one of my grandkids, anyway.

If you like interactive pop up cards, Karen Burniston is doing a live demo today at 1:20 Eastern time. I have some of her dies. I found her at a convention once, and she does some fun things. Her pop up designs are very clever, but she has an engineering background.
I definitely won’t be watching everything for the summit. I missed yesterday’s classes and live demos, but I don’t feel I missed anything that I wanted to see. A lot depends on what your style is. I think there is something for most, but not everyone will want to watch every presentation.

I have the pop-up and shaker cards on my "maybe" list". I'll see how the weekend goes.
I did mean to pop in here yesterday to say that the instructor downloadable worksheets are where it's at -- that "workbook" is definitely useless.

I downloaded the worksheets from the two classes I’ve watched. I love interactive cards. The MFT interactive shaker card was super cute. I even have the stamp set and cloud template that she used. I think I need to make that one this evening. It didn’t get me to do any shopping, though.
I also really enjoyed the Live Demo by Karen Burniston. I thought it would only be available live, but it looks like it can be viewed again. I love her pop up/interactive dies and cards. It was a great presentation. I think I’ll watch it a couple more times tonight. I have several of her dies.
I also watched part of the castle pop up card presentation, and I downloaded the free SVG cutting file, but that instructor didn’t seem as professional. She provided a castle die cut for the card front in the free file, which was nice. If I make the card, I will probably add more to the card, both inside and out. If I do, I have some stamps that should work well with it.

I watched a couple yesterday. Meh. I watched 1 today which was OK. I'm on the fence about a couple of the discounts from yesterday. It's the dang sipping that says no.

Thanks for the link to this, azcrafty. Signed up for free access. I just watched Tiffany Solorio's alcohol inks class and I already have a plan to use these techniques on a birthday card I need to make this weekend. Hoping to use my reinker for the Tim Holtz Alcohol Lift Ink pad. Never could get that pad to work well for me for stamping, but thinking it might be fun to stencil with it. I did not pay for any extra access. And I am thinking I will have to figure out how to unsubscribe or something so my email doesn't get as flooded with the CMSS emails as it has been since I signed up yesterday.

The Live presentations are apparently going to live forever on Brandi’s YT channel. The recorded presentations expire after 24 hrs if you don’t pay for full access so Brandi recommended prioritizing the prerecorded presentations if you have limited time to watch. I have enjoyed a few of the videos. Some I’m skipping that are definitely not my style and that’s fine. When I paid for access that first year I watched a lot of videos that I had very little interest in, just to feel like I got my money’s worth - I don’t recommend doing that! It just muddied up my brain making me think I should try things I don’t like. I’m easily influenced! I don’t have anything nice to say about some people so I’m going to shut my mouth (I’m just over here rolling my eyes at a few things) but the people who I know do great videos regularly on YT have lived up to my expectations so I’m happy

Actually it says SPONSOR livestreams will stay on the YT channel, so maybe the Q&A sessions will disappear. Not sure about that.

I wasn’t really interested in today’s classes (sorry, I know a lot of you here love Crafty Al and her sheetload of cards), but yesterday’s Live demo by Karen Burniston prompted me to get out my pop up dies that I bought from her booth at convention a few years or more ago. I’m planning to use them for birthday cards for a couple of my grandkids.
I have used at least some of them before, but it’s been long enough that I’m having to watch the tutorials again. Karen Burniston’s video from yesterday is still up, and looks like it may continue to be available on YouTube.
I think that is the main reason that I feel this free summit has been worthwhile. The few tutorials that were of interest to me have gotten me to get out stamps, dies, and papers that i already own. While I did buy a few things from Karen Burniston, I have been hoping for the last few years that she would come back to a convention here. Since she hasn’t, and since I am not sure I want to attend any of this year’s conventions, I don’t feel bad about making the purchase, especially since I got 20% off,, and one of the die sets is something I have wanted to buy for a long time.

The mix your coloring media (watercolor and colored pencil) video has me lusting for Prismacolors. Which is a little weird since I don’t have a watercolor set (though I could probably borrow DK’s. Her free download was her blending recommendations; i might take a closer look at that, see how the list overlaps with available sets, and start my 2023 Christmas wish list.
I was more impressed/intrigued by the two shaker cards than I expected to be. I don’t have and don’t want an electronic cutting machine, so I turn off any video at soon as Cricut or SVG file is mentioned. I don’t have and don’t want to be tempted by a hot foil machine, so once it clear the foiling was that kind of foil, I stopped that one.
Karen Burniston I started to watch. I really appreciated the thought that goes into these sets — ensuring that you don’t need extra parts or multiple sets to make a card, but also designing them so they can work together. But it seemed way too fiddley for me. I got a little anxious and decide to turn it all off and get to my crafting.

I wasn’t going to watch the mix your coloring media class since it didn’t specify which media and I didn’t know the presenter, but since you recommended it I took a look. She had a nice voice and it’s making me think I should try out my Prismacolors and watercolors together instead of leaving them in a drawer. My initial reaction was NOPE, don’t want to do that kind of coloring… but I have the supplies already, I even have some stamped and embossed panels ready to color, so I should at least try it out and see. I’m avoiding anything that mentions foiling, cricut/cutters, shakers, etc. I’m not keen on making any of that stuff. I looked at the examples for a couple of cards and didn’t feel inspired to watch. I suspect the KB die cutting might be too much trouble for me but if I have time I might check it out. Maybe I can learn something. I watched the Penguin Palace livestream but didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know from other videos. Ditto with the Taylored Expressions Create in Quads. At least I was able to fast forward them a bit.

I have a Cameo, so I wasn’t interested in the Cricut classes, but I did download three of the free designs used on cards during the summit. They were all SVG files, so I can use them with my Cameo.
The Karen Burniston pop up mechanisms are a bit more involved to make. The die cutting isn’t bad, but I have to watch the video to create the pop up mechanism, at least if it is a new one, or if it has been awhile since I have made the pop up. However, I love making and giving cards that have a “WOW!” factor. Karen Burniston is a civil engineer. I married a civil engineer. Our oldest son is a civil engineer. So I find things like that interesting and cool, and I like the resulting cards, even if they take more time to make. KB’s pop up cards are fun to give because they usually impress the receiver. Not everyone appreciates a hand made card, but KB pop up cards usually impress everyone.
I have never taken any Copic classes, so I got a lot out of the class on Sunday that showed how to create dimension with your Copics.
The Fun Fold card class on Sunday was a more elaborate version of a card that I already knew how to make. She used a 6” paper pad that was from some company I have never heard of before. It sounds like she is Australian, so maybe it is only paper sold there. It was gorgeous paper, and I’d love to find it, but I will probably have to use something else to finish the card, but I doubt it will be as lovely as what she used.
At the very least, since I paid nothing for the summit, I got a lot more than my money’s worth.

So I paid $39, and I can't find what I paid for. In order to get anything useful I have to pay again. That is not what I was led to believe.

I emailed their support/customer service address and they sent me a new link!
