I started watching that Aussie fun-fold video, but quickly realized that she has something like three cards worth of materials in that ONE CARD! Seemed bonkers to me. IF I get it finished (looking doubtful), I will probably keep it. It might work well as a mini album page. It’s a display card, not a card I’d send to anyone. That card is a more elaborate version of one that was popular among card makers a few years ago. All she did was add an extra piece to each end, to make it look more impressive. I agree that it had about 3 times the card materials.

joblackford, what set (assuming you have a set) of Prismacolors do you have? I'm looking at the 48 or maybe trying to build a small custom set open stock.

don , they emailed me a new log-in link this morning and reminded me that I still have access. Did you get a similar message?

The classes are available for one additional day, Saturday, March 4th, from 9 a.m. Eastern time, for 24 hours. Because the storms caused access problems for some folks, they are giving everyone another opportunity to watch them.
Obviously, that doesn’t resolve the access issue for those who paid the full access fee. I hope all of those problems get resolved.

OK' I got a message this morning, I have until 3/24 to do whatever. I think I will put what I can on a flash drive.

Cool, thanks.
I have decided that I am annoyed by her pencil recommendations. It seems far too often she's recommending the odds when it's the even that are in the sets, if that makes sense. I'll make a note in my journal and move on for now. I can circle back some other time.

Don’s post startled me too. I reread that email message this morning. There is lifetime access to the video content. Discount codes and some downloadable content from the instructors will expire.

I actually think it was my own fault. I just didn't know how to handle the whole thing. Instructions were confusing to me. I have deleted the whole thing now and put it behind me. It's not the first $39 I have squandered in my life, and probably not the last. I'm over it.

If there were any classes you wanted to watch again, they are supposed to be available today, till 9 Easter time tomorrow. However, they were also supposed to send out a link, and I haven’t gotten the email. Correction: it was in Wednesday’s email, which had the schedule of classes. Here is a link: Card Making Summit schedule and class linksRegardless, I don’t think they handled this well.

IIRC, joblackford did say that it was a bit of cluster last time she attended, but she was sure they would have improved. Maybe not so much.

Just wanted to pop in and revive this thread. Given my newly unemployed status, I figured what the heck and paid the $10 for the upcoming Cardmaker's Success Challenge, billed as a four-day event where you make 40 cards (5 each of 8 designs). Having registered, it's two-hour classes in the afternoons for four days. Each class presents two projects and you're supposed to make five of each card. Improvements that I see over the previous summit events (not sure they will carry over into future summits): - The original fee grants access to the recordings in addition to the live classes.
- Classes will be on private FB rather than whatever the cluster <bleep> the summits have been on was.
- The projects and supplies/products used are all being posted ahead of time.
Issues I see or still see: - There's still a VIP upgrade that gives you access to an additional hour of virtual crafting together with the instructor and other students
- One project involves a patterned paper pack only available on Etsy; it seems like a small maker like that might have trouble with volume and shipping in time for the classes
- Even with the finished projects and supplies lists, I find it difficult to substitute items from my stash sometimes, even though it's encouraged here (except for that paper pad, of course).
I will say that the eight projects are not all holiday-themed, which is nice. At this point, I'm not sure how hard I'm going to try to participate. $10 is not that hard to just walk away from. But I did like some of the differences between how this one is being administered compared to the summits, so I thought it worth mentioning.

I do hope that participants are happier with this one. I’ve only done one free card summit, and that was the same one that Don paid for lifetime access, but couldn’t access it. I watched the sessions during the time I had access. I don’t think I would have gone back to watch the sessions again, even if I’d paid for them, but hopefully, things have gotten better since then.
Even assuming they have gotten better, would I pay $10? No, but I’d rather spend my money on supplies than classes.

Interesting… I haven’t seen anything about this new format. Do you have a link? Is the Etsy seller one of the teachers? That does seem like a strange choice. I hope they know they’re about to be dealing with a lot of orders. Besides that it does sound like an improvement, depending on who the teachers are. More focused. More is not always better and many of these summits are just overwhelming.

This makes me think that there is only one teacher, Brandi.
"Absolutely! Brandi will be guiding you through the creation of 8 unique card designs that are wonderfully replicable. The target is to craft 40 cards using these 8 designs, but feel free to make as many as your creative heart desires. The more, the merrier!"
I see that it says its for beginners too and not seeing any card examples I'm afraid this would be not for me.
I'll stick with the free YouTube videos.

And that would explain why I haven't heard about it from the usual suspects. I'm on a few mailing lists but I unsubbed from Brandi's. It sounds like it could be a fun time for crafting along, and $10 is a good price, but I'm more of a loner.

Project 7 and 8 haven't been posted yet, but there seem to be a good mix of techniques so far. The first project, with the Etsy paper pad, seems to be slapping sentiments onto the elaborate scenes already complete in the paper, but I think I read somewhere that there'll be more than one technique demoed with it. There are some layered die cuts, a bartered ink background, an alcohol ink background, embossing folders, coloring stencils, partial die cutting, stencil with butter. Nothing hugely advanced, but a little bit of everything. I don't think I watched any of Brandi's classes in any of the summits, so I don't know what I think of her as a teacher. Not sure how much I'll end up participating, as I said, but it still seems worth $10 to see what it's about.

Meant to add that one of the reasons I haven't unsubbed from Brandi's list is that she interests me in the same way Tasnim at Altenew does. This industry is so overwhelmingly white, Christian, and straight that when I notice other voices, like Muslim or queer, I feel a need to listen to them.

I didn't unsub from the Summit people b/c of the free classes: those I accepted as being free and often aimed at skill levels above or below me. I unsubbed because of the blizzard of emails that were flying into my inbox several times a day from each of several of the presenters.
And I laughed when I got one a while ago from Brandi (I think) that sounded like she had invented the on line message board... Wait. What?

So, the challenge was postponed to early January due to heath reasons.
I took a closer look at the Etsy paper pad for the first set of cards. Very beautiful winter woodland scenes — but with little anthropomorphized animals celebrating Christmas: little rabbits in blue coats a la Peter, little bears sleeping in hollow logs wearing little knit toques, little critters wielding wrapping paper or carrying wrapped gifts. And $16 delivered. I think not.
Did figure out it’s designed and sold by the same Erin Thompson who’s teaching at the next Altenew retreat; never heard of her before this month.
