It's not schredded tissue-- I've done that enough to recognize it.
I use TIDE liquid. But after this laundry cycle, 4-5 of my black pieces have white crap on them. So I'm rewashing with an extra rinse cycle, no detergent this time.
WTF?
I *DO* wear sunscreen. Mineral sunscreen. This would be a sunscreen-laden load, fresh back from a tropical vacation.... Could it be sunscreen?

Detergent. Happens every so often to me, mainly when I have heavier black items over lighter items.

Try washing your black stuff inside out.

Residue... And the 'cleaners' do not work on it. Just run your finger nails around the top sides of the drum and see the white stuff.
I have a soft brush/scratch less sponge that I periodically "scrub" the sides of the drum.

Try washing your black stuff inside out. Doesn't help mine.

Sounds like detergent residue. Make sure you're not using too much detergent with each load (my front loader manual says 2 TBS max per load which doesn't seem like enough but its working for me). I also use liquid Tide.
I also run regular tub cleaning cycles monthly and do a thorough cleaning of the gasket. The streaks used to happen to me occasionally with my LG front loader and I used more detergent back then. We bought a new Electrolux front loader last spring when the LG died and it hasn't happened.

Detergent. The most detergent I use is up to the first line on the cup and I was with extra water and an extra rinse. Havent had issues since

I will try cleaning the drum, and using less detergent. I haven't been measuring it, but feel like I don't use even the minimum suggested amount on the measuring cup. I thought only powdered and those sheet detergents would leave residue. Didn't realize liquids did.
Mine is a regular top loading machine.

You might have a build up somewhere that the clothes are either rubbing on or bits are breaking off. Try a good cleaning and see if that helps.

Maybe consider switching detergents? I really like one called Charlie's Soap that's supposed to be cleaner and not leave a residue. You can read about it here: charliessoap.com We've been using it for the past 4-5 years along with their Laundry Booster (that's made to be used with hard water) and it works extremely well. I used to order it but since we they now sell it in our local Whole Foods store I buy it there.

Undissolved detergent. My machine is only a few weeks old and I have had it recently so I don’t think it’s a build up in the drum.

I agree, it's laundry soap. These new HE machines often don't have enough water in the cycle to do a thorough rinse. I'd try less detergent and trying a different cycle.

I agree with the others that said "detergent residue". Wash the load again, without detergent.

I have an HE top loader. I my white residue on dark laundry has been lint. Usually it comes off (the clothing) in the dryer.

I get that residue too using liquid Persil. I almost always have to do two rinses if I'm washing a lot of black clothes.

Don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but I have multiple times had what looks like bleach stains on dark clothing, but I don't use bleach or even powder detergent. I was just thinking the other day I wondered if it was powder detergent from when I did use it that got stuck somewhere in the machine.

I think this happens particularly when using cooler temps as it des't dissolve the detergent as well. I use 30 degree washes a to these days and have to watch how much I use.

Not enough water.
I get this when I use my HE machine, that uses a very small amount of water.
I don't get this when I use my old school machine. My clothes are SO MUCH cleaner coming out of this machine than the HE machine.
Yes, I have two washing machines. LOL

Mine is a regular top loading machine. I stopped using liquid Tide and the issue has lessened. My front loader had the issue and my new top loader as well so I don't think it's an issue of which kind of washer it is. I have one pair of capris that I turn inside out and they still come out with white marks on them. I agree, it's laundry soap. These new HE machines often don't have enough water in the cycle to do a thorough rinse. I'd try less detergent and trying a different cycle. Instead of doing a regular wash, I put the dial on 'towels' and also 'Deep water'. The white streaking is gone for the most part but on occasion, I'll see it again .
