I was at book club last night and a discussion started about which version people have. I was surprised at how many people still used Windows 7. So what do the Peas use?

I was going to buy a new laptop about 6 months ago, but the repair guy told me to wait as his main source of income is Windows 11 issues.

I’m still on 8 but I’m buying a new computer shortly and am hoping to avoid 11.

I LOVED XP and 7 and used them way longer than I should have. I finally upgraded to 10. Many of my friends say the same thing. Why doesn't Microsoft realize that certain things shouldn't be *fixed* and just update the versions that are so popular? And why did they get rid of Free Cell on Windows 10?

Windows 10 both at home and at work. Though my Surface keeps wanting to "give" me Windows 11. I keep telling it no thank you.

I was going to buy a new laptop about 6 months ago, but the repair guy told me to wait as his main source of income is Windows 11 issues. My laptop is on 8.1, which causes Chrome to nag me every time I fire it up. I have a still-in-unopened-box replacement laptop across the room on the chair. I bought it because it was the last chance to get one with Windows 10, and I did not want 11. I generally like to keep expensive things for as long as they last, and I resent having to send electronics to the grave because of changes Bill Gates has made.

I use 10 Pro - my general rule of thumb is to upgrade every other time (so I went from 7 to 10 and hope to skip 11 and get whatever comes out afterwards).

I remember when 10 came out, and so many people (I'm sure it was a discussion here) said they were putting it off for as long as possible. I upgraded to 10 straight away, and I had no problems at all. If I still had a PC, I would upgrade to 11. And keep my fingers crossed I wasn't one of the unlucky ones who had problems haha!

I haven't used Windows since XP was the newest version. I have been Mac OS since 2004. However, my new place of work is switching all the existing Mac users to PC, so now I use Windows 10. And, because Windows feels so clunky and nonsensical to me, it took me 5 minutes to figure out where to find that information on the machine. lol

I really liked XP, too and was hesitant to go to 10. Finally gave in and I'm used to it now and hardly can remember why I liked XP - just habit, I guess. I hate when things change, but, life is a learning curve.

11 on my laptop, 10 on my desktop. They're both fine but I prefer 11.

My DD and DS bought me a new laptop for Christmas which came with 11. I’ve found it easy to use and haven’t had any issues with it so far.

I have windows 10. Just my personal opinion, I find it complicated and not user friendly. Specifically the photo storage and sorting photos into folders. I hate it! I miss windows xp. It was very user friendly. In a perfect world, after a new version is made....they should give it to a few "technology challenged" people, and ask them to do a few "what should be simple" tasks. Like >> organize the photos into folders. Cleanup the files and run the defrag. If they can't do these tasks, then make it simpler and more user friendly. or make two version. One version for the technology challenged and another version for those who know what they are doing. But it's not a perfect world, and a few years later....I still fight with windows 10. I hate it! Did I mention? >> I hate it!!

I was at book club last night and a discussion started about which version people have. I was surprised at how many people still used Windows 7. I loved Windows 7! I hated to have to give it up as my daily computer. I have: A desktop with 11 A laptop with 11 A Surface Pro with 10 A desktop with 7 - it's failing, but I hooked it up in the basement to use occasionally. A laptop with 7 A laptop with XP. DH has most of the laptops, and I am trying to condense everything down to the new one with 11. He runs some older software like Works that he loves. I found a way to get them installed onto the 11 laptop. I just need to get all the files moved over. He keeps using the old XP so I need to out to the shop and back up those files again. I did get all his GPS software on the new one, right before harvest, which is why we had to get it.

It's asked me more than once and I keep telling it later. I'm not necessarily opposed to updating, it just usually comes up when I'm in the middle of doing something and I know it'll take some time to download and install.

I'm not necessarily opposed to updating, it just usually comes up when I'm in the middle of doing something and I know it'll take some time to download and install. DH has 11, & he's complained that his day is interrupted by forced updates. I personally think that nobody should have to update unless choosing to do so, and on his own timeline. Dictators of all stripes call what they force upon the "ignorant masses" "help." If I want help from Microsoft, I'm a capable adult who can contact them. It's insulting, as if we don't know what they're doing--increasing their profit potential & slimming the scope of legacy program knowledge needed by their ever-younger (pronounced less costly) product support staff. . A quote: "Since Windows 10, we have been helping Windows users stay up to date and secure with supported versions of Windows through automatic updates. We are utilizing this same approach for Windows 11 to help you stay protected and productive." A link to the entire article, in case you want it. www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-starts-force-upgrading-windows-11-21h2-devices/#:~:text=Sergiu%20Gatlan&text=Microsoft%20has%20started%20the%20forced,date%20on%20October%2010%2C%202023.

I'm also on 11 after buying a new laptop and I have no issues. Having said that, I haven't yet converted my work laptop over from 10 to 11. I think many of the issues reported stem from the conversion from 10 to 11 for older computers. My new personal laptop was built with 11 and never ran on 10. Jen

I just got a new laptop. It has windows 11. So far, no problems. Granted I've only had it two months.
Laptop before this one has 10 on it. No issues. My issues of late were hardware related, not software.
