I bought two albums that are not my usual type. They're not leather or cloth, and were shrink wrapped with a large sticker stuck to the cover (from the photo online, I thought it was a piece of paper, not a sticker... When I went to peel the stupid sticker off with my very dull fingernails and my Cricut spatula tool, it left gouges in the album cover and I was not digging hard, it did not take much to put scratches in the cover. I was trying to get the edge of the sticker up so I could peel it off... The sticker won't peel off in one piece Any tips about how to get a large sticker off an album cover without damaging the album? So annoying!

Goo Gone?
I hate those damn stickers. Especially on books!

Can you put a warm wet cloth over the sticker area until the paper gets wet enough and the glue warm enough to come off? Or will that damage the surface of the cover?

I’d try Goo Gone or Undu.

Heat it very gently with a hair dryer, if you don't think that will damage the album. It should soften the glue and the sticker should peel right off.

Another vote for undu…that stuff is awesome! (I’ve heard that it is just lighter fluid, but have never tested)

Hair dryer (NOT YOUR HEAT GUN!) is the first way, most of the time it's all you need. If some residue is left, apply Undo to a rag and dab at it, then follow up with alcohol to remove the Undo residue. I use this method on everything. I have a hair dryer in my studio just for that reason. I remove shipping labels off small boxes so I can paint them and use for storing cards and pencils, etc.

blow dryer to peel off the sticker and then Goo Gone for any residual adhesive that's left.

I'd start with a hair dryer and then try Undo.

No advice, but I will join you in being frustrated and/or infuriated and wish you luck...

My hair dryer is currently MIA and the kid who probably knows where it is, won't be home until tomorrow, but I will try the hair dryer trick, when I get a chance.
Thanks!

Another vote for undu…that stuff is awesome! (I’ve heard that it is just lighter fluid, but have never tested) I have used lighter fluid and I do not think it is the same. Undo leaves the sticker still sticky and useable after it dries and lighter fluid doesn't seem to do that. I have never had items damaged from undo but I can't say the same for lighter fluid.

Undu is Butanone; lighter fluid is Butane. So, not the same. I would not try lighter fluid.
